Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 1 episode 20 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime!  WHOA, I had no idea we were taking the series in a totally different direction now!!!!!!  Rimuru's a teacher, has a dorm, and everything!  I also LOVED catching up Yuuki on all the, erm, important matters that have occurred while he was gone :P  LOL!!!  Priorities!!  So now it's up to us to save these kids that Shizu obviously cared for....and....it looks like they're gonna keep us on our toes!!!  Can't wait for more!
Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Hi Hime :) Milim demonstrates in a few moments that if she had wanted to, she would have already razed the village... Luckily Rimuru managed to coax her. And with Carrion, it's a second Demon Lord on good terms with Rimuru. Yuuki and Rimuru, the meeting of two otaku lol A lot of the shows they both mention are actually real series, like Five Star Stories which is a manga that has been going on since 1986. As you're a fan of Kamen Rider, I loved the moment you saw the "Henshin" with the famous pose and suddenly, Melissa had nothing to say lol. Yes, without too much spoiler, the end of the season is dedicated to Rimuru as a teacher and trying to find a way to save the children. That's why I said on Sunday that you were going to like this new arc. Children to save/protect, a connection with Shizu, a more slime of life aspect, perfect for you.

Hi, I am glad you are excited about this arc, it's fun, and this is not just some random episodic side story. It's only the children under 10 who face this fate of being destroyed by the power they have. Adults get Skills, as Veldora mentioned, but the children don't. The skills are a way to channel the power, but they won't get them until they are more mature. Summons' and all Otherworlders' bodies are remade during the transition to be more magical than in this world. That world is a magical world so they need that to exist there. Can they or any Otherworlder go back??? It's something to speculate on. The reason children are summoned is that you don't have all the restrictions of a full-fledged Summons, so it's like they are hoping for a random "good result", and the Summoners don't care about the consequences. Yuuki and Hinata were not summoned, they came spontaneously, as he said. Yuuki looks younger than his age but he's super-strong, both of these as a result of the transfer......Must be nice to be able to live in a town where you can sleep on the streets and still be safe! And that little Japanese house is Rimuru's house. He did his best to learn to sleep since everyone else in town has to, and he somewhat succeeded, kinda....... Historically and to this day, large panes of glass were really expensive. It's why you always see old houses with small windows until they developed the technology, and rich people's houses had them first. One thing is, some of this technology is brought by Otherworlders. Some of the spontaneously isekai'd have no powers at all, and make their living doing other things....Most cities in the human world have anti-monster barriers.

Before I forget from the last episode , I don’t think the M. Harlequin Alliance are Demon Lords, they’re just working for one (Clayman.) Regarding this episode, first, Rimuru wasn’t waking up in a cold sweat, I think he was actually crying. Shizu’s feelings are seeping through here. The scene in the bath is hilarious, because Rimuru is aware of the fourth wall especially when Milim starts to stand up. He might want to be around women, but he’s still a gentleman: Notice the “strategic” ways he keeps stretching his slime form to keep this series from getting a… more mature rating. 😂 Meanwhile, the JTF has become stable enough that Rimuru feels secure letting them handle things for a while. While he might be the glue holding that nation together, it’s going to be up to each of them to learn how to manage and get along with the others. Also, I caught that “one nation under Rimuru” poke. Are you trying to Jaune a new Pledge of Allegiance? We got not one, but TWO Henshins in this episode. (See my comment about Milim being female Ryuutaros in the previous ep!) So, based on what Rimuru said, I am gathering this is a little bit in the future. Because he said they’re up to 19 FFs (Final Fantasy games). They’re currently at 15 going on 16. Also it’s a nice callback because there is a TON of stuff going on in this show that feels like it’s been ripped directly out of that gaming franchise. (I think you would like it quite a bit btw, it’s interactive but very story focused for the most part.) Speaking of cool things, Rimuru’s watched all the anime and read all the manga from his previous life? He must’ve really been a recluse. (What did Simmons say yesterday… “My digital life is so much better than my stupid real life…”) Also, Rimuru printing off manga just like that? So… when you’re done here, my address is… [REDACTED]. It seems that these kids were summoned by accident and unfortunate casualties of war. While summoning is intended to call a hero, it doesn’t always work out the way the kingdoms planned, and now they’re stuck here. So it’s just another puzzle to solve. Veldora seemed to react to the last child, Chloe. I wonder what that’s about, because we know in this world, something isn’t nothing. So now we’ve got references to Final Fantasy, Kamen Rider and My Hero Academia. Because on top of everything else Rimuru is done, now he’s gonna teach powerful kids. Because WHY NOT? And one last question to think about; even if there was indeed a way to return to the previous world, would Rimuru even WANT to? So far he seems to have a pretty good thing going here, if you ask me. Unlike Shizu, I think he’s feeling a lot more at home in this world so far.

Hi Spadeas! :) Oh yeah, Milim is super overpowered!! Thankfully Rimuru has a pretty good handle on her behavior lol. Yes we are really racking up these friendships with demon lords, aren't we! Hahahha I loved Yuuki and Rimuru's discussion of the finer things in life :D Hahahaha I loved the henshin scene for sure! Ooohhh how exciting that we get a whole new arc! LOL slime of life, can't wait!!!!

Manny

I had no idea Rimuru could do that. That was like the greatest ability of all time. Imagine if the demon lords got a hold of this unique skill. There'd be no stopping them :0 📚

kamenriderhime

I am excited!! Oh thank you for explaining why they're in danger and how the process works! That's messed up about the way that children are summoned. Interesting that Rimuru has kinda learned how to sleep now! And that's really cool about the glass, I didn't realize that. Makes total sense that otherworlders brought knowledge and invention with them in some cases! And good call on the anti-monster barriers, although that's really sad considering we've seen so many awesome individuals who are classified as monsters!!

kamenriderhime

Oh thanks for clarifying about the Moderate Harlequin Alliance! HAHAHAHA I'm totally Jauning a new Pledge of Allegiance :P Omg the evidence for Milim/Ryuutaros is really stacking up! Ohhh I was wondering about the accuracy of stuff they were discussing, like FF!! That definitely helps give an idea of the timeline. I'm dying to play FF!!! Do you think it's a good game for someone who's not the greatest at using a controller yet? I'm very new to games but am trying to figure out something to play on my channel! Yeah he put some serious time into his fandoms in his past life lol. Hahahaha omg who wouldn't want that reprinting ability?! I think we all need to sign up for Rimuru's subscription service! Ah ok, that makes sense about the kids. It's so sad! Yeah, what was the reaction from Veldora about? Hahaha I mean why not have Rimuru be a teacher? He can pretty much do anything!!!!! Yeah, that's the thing - at this rate it's a downgrade in every way for Rimuru. He definitely seems to be having a better life so far!

I think the anime they talked about in the beginning with Belldandy is from the Romcom Oh! My Goddness A nice anime, with some culture inspired from Norse Mythology. I think Belldandy is the name of one of the 3 norns (kinda witches), that guard a sacred pool and overwatch fate. If i remember correctly, Odin got his wisdom from that. The Sagrada Família, is a church in Spain, that is being build since 1882. Very beautyfull, i can recommend to look up some pictures. I am not that pious, but i can respect that this architecture is something great.

myst0dreamer

One of the things Rimuru was catching Yuuki up on was "Belldandy". That's a reference to an anime from no later than the mid-2000's called Oh! My Goddess! The goddess's name was Belldandy. Glass Ma- might be Glass Mask, a shoujo manga and anime about acting, which by the late 2000's had a remake already. One of the covers showed Land of the Lustrous. If you look closely, all the manga were issues of the same magazine, Monthly Shounen Sirius. So maybe this dates Yuuki's arrival to the other world...Btw, what was the reference to My Hero Academia?

myst0dreamer

I looked up the Sagrada Familia, and the single most famous thing about it, besides its architecture, is that it is still unfinished. This is not a medieval cathedral, but it kinda looks like one.

Tyler Stobbe

Oh, the MHA reference is a little more subtle it’s just that Rimuru has to teach kids with powerful abilities and volatile personalities. Although if he starts sleeping in class like Eraser Head, I’m gonna have questions… As far as FFs go, Melissa, I’d say the first ones are pretty user friendly and allow you to take your time getting them down. But the downside to that, is, they can also be a little bit grindy. By that I mean you might be spending a few hours just doing the same thing on order to make more funds for better equipment… wait, did I just describe real life? 👀 Anyway! As they go they get more complicated storylines and become more hands-on, but I don’t see how a beginning gamer would have too much trouble with the first one, since it’s more turn based and you’re allowed to think between turns when fighting battles. Biggest complications would be retaining information and clues about what to do next, and the aforementioned grinding.

kamenriderhime

Ohhh gotcha! Thanks for clearing it up! The Sagrada Familia sounds beautiful!!! I appreciate all the info, thanks to both of you!

kamenriderhime

Donna, thanks for all the info! Tyler, hahahaha life is totally one big grind isn't it :P But yeah, I'm ok at grinding, just not sure if folks wanna see me do that? I'm having such a hard time deciding what to do for my video game reactions because I'm simply so bad at games at the moment!!! :P I'm leaning towards something that literally anyone could play, like Detroit Become Human. And then just "grinding" on some classic games in my own time to try and get better on the controls.

myst0dreamer

When I played old-school games, I did something revolutionary--I took notes! I actually enjoyed making my own maps, too. So memory can be assisted.

kamenriderhime

That's a great idea! I'm sure it helped a lot. I'm not as concerned for my memory as I am for the fact that I can't figure out controls in most games. I want to do video game reactions so badly but most of it would be me trying to figure out how to move, shoot, etc. :P I'm not terribly coordinated....!

myst0dreamer

I was talking about old-school games where I used a mouse to navigate, and the battles were all turn-based. I'm not into controller (i.e. high-speed) games. There were some indie developers who purposely were making these games, even after they were old tech, but I have been away from them long enough that I can't tell you who they are or if they're still doing it.

darkchaos125

When Milim pounced off the ground to fly off, she went "Duwa!" and flew like superman. This is a reference to the tokusatsu "Ultraman". The character Belldandy is from Ah! My Goddess! (Sometimes its also called Oh! My Goddess!). There's a couple other references to other anime in this conversation/scene in the episode.

kamenriderhime

Hahahaha omg that's amazing!!! I just started watching an Ultraman series (on my own time) so that's perfect. And interesting about the Belldandy reference too! Thanks for the info!
