EDIT: Does anyone have info on episode 24.9 / s2 ep 0?  Trying not to read anything spoilery online and the best I could find was that it's "mostly" a recap.  Not sure if there's something I need to know tucked in there or not!  Thanks!

Hey everyone!  I'm going to try to film what comes next for Slime before the holiday weekend, in an effort to take a few days off!  I was wondering, could someone break down for me what I'm supposed to watch between seasons 1 and 2?  As in, MUST watch or I won't understand what's going on in season 2?  I would love to watch all extra content but might hold off on anything more extraneous until after I'm caught up on the main series!  Thank you so much in advance!!!!  ^_^  ~ MH

Ova's 3, 4 and 5 are a must. Again. They are not typical ova's. They really are episodes. I think they may have been 1 movie originally and just broken down to 3 ova's or Oad's on Crunchyroll. Timeline wise it would be the Ova's, Slime Diaries, then season 2. They did not stream Diaries until after they gave us the first half of season 2. The events of the show happen before season 2 and most likely happen during season 1 or at least some of it does but we just didn't get to see it then. The scene at the end of season 1 where he says goodbye to his students doesn't happen until a few episodes into season 2.They gave us the 12 week run of Diaries between the 12 week break of season 2. If you choose to watch Diaries it can wait. It won't cause you any confusion during season 2 other than knowing who a couple of minor characters are.

Thanks for the info! So, I can film OVAs 3 and 4 now. But that will put me on a schedule of OVA 5 + 2x01, 2x02 + 2x03, etc.....is that going to be an issue? I usually like to do even numbers because a typical season is like 12-24 eps. Unfortunately I can't do all 3 OVAs in a day because I'm filming some other things too :(

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

Yes, you can skip the first 2 ova's and the Veldora recap episode. Iforget how many episodes are in season 2. There is a recap episode in season 2 that you can skip though.

kamenriderhime

Will I be confused in season 2 if I jump into season 2 and skip all the OVAs? I can always go back and watch them after. I'd love to not be doing OVA 5 & 2x01, 2x02 & 2x03, etc.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

The 3 ovas are actually 1 story. Watch all 3 or none of them, but like I said they really are not ova's. They are definitely cannan to the show . I don't want to say why because of spoilers

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

They should be looked at like 3 episodes that could have been at the end of season 1 or the beginning of season 2. That's why I think it was a movie in Japan and broken down to 3 episodes for Streaming services. I could definitely be wrong about it

Thanks for all the info! I’m super conflicted because I can’t watch all 3 at once and it sounds like that’s how they’re meant to be seen. I’m leaning towards just jumping into season 2 but of course I don’t want to disappoint anyone! From the other comments it sounds like it wouldn’t be totally out of the question for me to do that but I’m still conflicted lol.

Don't watch season 2 episode 0. It's a recap of season 2 part 1 basically like 24.9 is for season 1 but the first part of season 2 instead so it's way ahead.

The OVA story actually is not part of the main plotline of the LN. I went back and checked to make certain. It does squarely fit into the plot, but it is not the plot. Nothing in it directly affects the main story, although there is one spot you could argue is intriguing in reference to the main plot. It is canon, but it is a side story. However, I wouldn't say to skip it if I didn't want to rescue you from your conflicted state.

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

To be honest this show does not have a main plot. It is mostly side stories put together. You can argue that because Rimiru wants to live in a place with friends and not have any problems or issues that fulfilling Shizu's wishes diverts completely from what he wants, so him taking care of her students and going to find Demon Lord Leon for her is the main plot. I don't want to spoil too much but those 3 episodes that are incorrectly listed as ovas are more important to his main plot than most of season 1.

kamenriderhime

Thank you Donna and James! Honestly, I didn't end up filming any Slime yesterday because I couldn't decide lol. If there's that much evidence for it being relatively important, I'd rather not take the chance of skipping it, so I think I'll just try to film all three on Tuesday. Thanks for all your input!

JAMES D'ALESSANDRO

I really recommend you do. I have watched a few reactions where the creator would say...who is that? .at the same time not watching them wouldn't hurt your enjoyment of season 2

kamenriderhime

Thanks! Yeah, I get confused enough as it is, so why not help myself wherever I can lol???

myst0dreamer

I am not going to argue anymore about what you should or shouldn't see, but I am rather taken aback about the idea that Slime does not have a main plot or that specifically finding Demon Lord Leon is the main plot because it diverts from what Rimuru really would like to do or that Season 1 has less to do with the main plot than these OVA's. It makes me wonder why James came to this conclusion. That said, I suppose it would be way too spoiler-y to discuss it.

kamenriderhime

I haven't seen it yet (watching it Tuesday) so I really can't offer any perspective on it yet, and as always, I truly appreciate that spoilery comments are avoided!! :) It could be a matter of perspective on what the "main" aspect of the story is, I suppose - but at the end of the day, I truly just want everyone to have fun with my reactions and as a part of this little community. :) I'm sorry if I dragged out my decision and made more of this than it needed to be. My reaction to the 3 episodes/OVAs will be out on Weds and I hope we can all have a fun discussion then :D
