Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to episode 4 of Moon Knight!  WHAAATTTT!!!  Guys, I seriously am starting to wonder what's real and what isn't!!!  Steven's adventure was quite cute and fun, and DANG is Layla a boss!!!
We finally get the truth about what happened with her dad, and I've gotta be honest, I thought it would be worse - like Mark was the one who killed him or something.  Still though, and entire marriage built on him finding her after watching her dad get killed...ooof!  And finally, we end not only with our hero getting shot and killed, but with that HECK OF A SCENE that made me question EVERYTHING!!!!  Fortunately, I think they got me back on track by the end there, but dang!!!  Also the screaming at the alligator/hippo god was pretty amazing and a great way to end the ep haha.  Cannot wait to see what the heck is going on!  Great stuff!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

What is very interesting about this "afterlife", is the fact that both Marc and Steven are there. Which almost pays homage to what we in the DID community call the "inner world". It is where alters can interact in the mind. Similar to a sort of hub where all alters can actually see each other and talk freely without any barrier in the way. The inner world also takes the form of whatever the system decides it looks like. From as complex as a fantasy world to as simple as a office building with different floors. Seems theirs is a mental hospital. Not the best choice in my opinion but this could change depending on how they develop as a system. The inner world is also a sort of gateway to healing as a system. Forcing the system to explore together and uncover things hidden in the mind. Quite mysterious but also important. It's where alters go and do things while someone else has control of the body. And you can possibly visit it through dreams or even intense focus.

One thing I approve of. Is when Marc finds Steven and gets him out. He immediately asks him, "what do you remember." This is very important to how systems work. Because there can be times when you have a hard time realizing if you are awake or asleep. And another alter remembering the same events usually confirms reality. Alters help each other navigate through themselves in order to be more grounded. If the host feels out of sorts and needs help figuring out where they are or what happened. This is what is handy about inner trust and communication. So Steven being so honest is really good for Marc. He knows Steven wouldn't lie to him. So the moment Steven says, "Harrow shot us..." That reaction from Marc says it all. He trusts Steven to know what happened. He doesn't trust himself to know what is real but he trusts Steven. I really hope they explain if this is an afterlife thing or if this is their inner world. And why it looks this way. The inner world reflects the system. The host has alot of sway as well to how it looks. So... maybe Marc struggles with the idea that he isn't normal. And so he is projecting this facility as a means to rationalize. Key point, systems and mental institution have a bad relationship. Alot of mental hospitals don't educate on DID. They see it as psychosis instead of a disorder. Something that needs medication. And yes while basic depression meds and anxiety pills work. Systems need therapists to help guide them to a healthy lifestyle. But! If the goal of the doctor is to silence the other alters. Like put a cap on them. That is very hurtful and wrong. And they need a new doctor. Because it will make things worse. As you've learned the alters have feelings, wants, needs. How would you feel if people kept insisting you don't matter or exist. Wouldn't that hurt? Possibly make you angry? It can lead to harming the body in frustration. And this is why having a healthy communication and relationship with your alters and system is important. You all want to live. They tend to over medicate which can hurt a system. Confuse alters. It's not great. So sadly my system are hoping we get an explanation for the mental hospital because it isn't something we are fond of. Though with the appearance of the hippo goddess. We are wondering if Marc and Steven are in some sort of limbo where they are going to the afterlife. But the limbo is their inner world maybe? Theorizing is hard when it ended right then and there.

The first thing to point out here is that while Steven and Marc are at odds they are actually contributing to the problems in different ways. Marc, as has already been established, has street and strength smarts. Steven is everything he’s not, he’s book smart, more intelligent, and far more open with his own personal feelings towards others. So, I know the topic of shipping has come up in this channel before, but I am kinda curious: how many times have you started shipping a love triangle where the girl was in a relationship with two different people: and yet they’re the same person? Check that one off the to do list! 😅 You certainly did a lot of squirming in this episode, bet you weren’t expecting us to go horror movie on you - but hey, putting a good scare into people is healthy from time to time. (On a side note, I’m not really sure you can do anything about it but the OBS capture in really dark night scenes is sometimes hard to see. It’s probably kind of difficult for you i too since you have to film with the lights on). I want to point out something g interesting I picked upon with Arthur: he has a way with words, but he doesn’t actually lie. If he gives you a matter-of-fact statement he truly believes what he’s saying. Now if you tell me what about Layla’s conclusion regarding her father, she said that out loud first and all he said was, “YOU said it.” He never confirmed anything for her. You kinda gotta keep your ear open when he talks and figure out what’s a truth and what’s an inference. So remember you spent most of the episode saying “Layla better not die?” Well, she didn’t. You said nothing about anyone else, so I’m gonna pull my RT card and say, you probably should be careful what you ask for. 🙃 Remember when you started this show I said things were going to get weird and you hadn’t even scratched the surface yet? Well, consider it scratched. :D Between the mental institution, with all the different things that fit in the last arc of the story, Arthur being the head psychiatrist, Marc and Steven both being in the same physical space, and the last ten seconds of the episode, my psychological evaluation is that your brain is efficiently scrambled by now. Now you have to wait a week! Like the rest of us… I mean, especially between Chapter 4 of Ice Queendom, and what’s happening over here, safe to say you’re having a weird week reaction wise over here? 😂

The whole sequence with Layla had my heart pumping. The cliffs, the hunt, the jump scare mm. 😱 Lol the one bright side was Steven being like a little kid at a candy store in there. 😄 🍬

Same!!! It was so tense and adventure-action-heavy!!! OMG seriously, watching Steven be in total childlike wonder and awe was amazing haha!

Ohhh that's interesting, I was wondering if there was something like that involved in DID. Fascinating that it can vary in terms of the "place" like an office or fantasy world. Hmm, I guess we'll see if maybe the setting changes or is explained at some point! It makes total sense that that's the mind's way of forcing cooperation and healing. Wow, that's really interesting that the alters can meet there while another has control of the body. Thank you so much for explaining this!!!

kamenriderhime

That's a pivotal moment for Steven and Mark then!!! I love how it all ties into actual established facts regarding DID. Steven's honesty here is a very good thing then, since Mark knows he can rely on him. Yes I hope they explain what exactly these surroundings are too! Interesting thought that this might reflect how Mark views himself. That's so sad that mental facilities don't view or treat DID in a more healthy, efficient way. I can totally see how trying to "silence" the alters as a form of treatment would be disastrous! Ugh, hearing about the over medicating and other destructive forms of treatment is just devastating. The mental hospital probably isn't the greatest choice then, unless it's better explained later in the story. Ohhhh good call that maybe this really is some kind of supernatural limbo relating to the afterlife?? It's very hard to theorize in this case, for sure!!! I guess we'll find out in the next ep!!!

2022-08-26 23:28:24 That's an excellent point, they both have a lot to contribute here! Lol that's a good point about the love triangle! Oh yeah, I can try to adjust the brightness a bit next time - it's something I run into especially often with Disney Plus for some reason. That's how it looks on my screen and I do have lots of lights on when I film so it's difficult haha. A bit of horror is good from time to time for sure! After all, it's almost spooky season! That's actually a good point about Arthur, his way of stating things could be brought into question but still. And yes, he almost kind of made Layla confirm that didn't he? Hahahaha yeah I guess I should have learned by now to be more specific when it comes to my wishes, shoot!!! Oh, we have scratched it now lol. Oof, that ending left me feeling pretty woozy alright!!! Hahahaha it's been a weird week for sure, good call on having Ch. 4 all in the same week!!!! >.< Maybe things will calm down for my shows this week? Nah, I doubt it!

I’m so glad my family wasn’t home when this episode premiered cause I was screaming at that last scene! My mind was freaking blown! Love how much this show makes you question what’s real, cause from the sound of it that’s what the comics kinda do.

kamenriderhime

Hahahahaha!!!! I get it, my neighbors got an ear full :P Right?! It's mind-blowing for sure and it totally made me not know what was real lol.

Cody

The last like ten minutes pretty much all I said was “Wtf is going on?!” I might’ve freaked my cats out, I don’t know. XD

kamenriderhime

Hahahahha I hear you, they say animals pick up on the energy and my dog has many times gotten alarmed when I freak out over a show!!! :P
