Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2 episode 8 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime!  NOOOOOOOOOOO I KNEW IT!!!!!  Guys, I knew they wouldn't gloss over Shion's status unless there was A HORRIBLE REASON!!!!!  And Gobzo!!!!  :O  Gobta's scream was earth shattering and soul crushing.  But, there'sa twist!!!!  And it involves....Milim?!?!  Or at least something that has to do with her very interesting origins?!?!  Also, our adventurers' true identities are revealed!  So Rimuru is gonna be a demon lord with the ability to undo death.  If it were anyone but Rimuru, I'd say that's a scary and unholy amount of power.  But I mean, this is Rimuru!  And Shion and Gobzo....and all those kids....I think it might be worth it!
I'm no longer mad at the show now that I've seen this ep :P Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Hi Hime :) Thank great sage for calming Rimuru down, otherwise Mjurran wouldn't be with us anymore. I think I said you were going to see new sides of Rimuru this season, let's start with the anger and the urge to kill... yeah. Let's also thank Mjurran by the way, because if she hadn't wanted to take the blame for everyone, it's Rimuru who would have felt guilty and wanted to completely eradicate humanity, losing his own in the process. Afterwards, given how rotten some humans are rotten to the core, I wouldn't even have blamed him... I was like you for Shion's death, first denial, then sadness and finally hope. Yes this is the origin story of Milim, remember it was said that she is the oldest demon lord and Eren says this tale has been shared in his country for centuries. Milim is so old that its origin story has become a fairy tale (it reminds some Ozma and Salem that lol). For the mask, when it cracks, it's because it can no longer contain and reduce Rimuru's energy, in other words, it has really let a lot of aura come out to be calmer, without that, as we could see, his aura would surely have enveloped the city and hurt the weakest... But hey, for the rest, now that you've seen Rimuru pissed off, you'll be able to see him without pity while he's going to collect human souls. They really chose their opponent badly, all because it's a slime. Ah and also, slight spoiler, but just to prove you right and to make you want to see the sequel, the Clayman case will be settled in this season. I'm not telling you why, I'm not telling you how, but you're going to take greeeeeeeeeeat pleasure in seeing it, I can assure you ^^.

I had to laugh when you said your heart was broken but restored but didn't say "like Mjurran". I also had to laugh about the word "mercy". You'll see! Ironically, Rimuru would never have wanted to become a Demon Lord if all this didn't happen. Maybe it had to be this way? So why did Clayman want to start a war? I don't think actually he started it, but is taking advantage. So Rimuru has been thwarting Clayman's plans for a while now. He's still trying for the same goals, but he's changed his approach, and now it's more complex. Several external influences have come to bear. As for the Church, I mentioned a couple of episodes ago that it was planning to move against Tempest, but Reyheim jumped the gun because of his ambition.

A bit of Mjurran's backstory. She had spent her life devoted to the study of magic, and she was nearing the end of her life when she met Clayman. He offered her a longer life by making her a Majin if she would give him her heart. She's been regretting it ever since.....Eren and her guards knew that her time adventuring was coming to an end for political and personal reasons, so she asked Rimuru if she could live in Tempest. I don't know if this is relevant to the anime but the three of them had limited their magic with a seal while they were traveling. This is due to a promise they made back home. They can undo the seal themselves.....The story of the girl and the dragon happened 2000 years ago. Again, Milim is not the oldest demon lord. In the story there are 2 people standing over Milim. (Yes, it's Milim, it's pretty obvious. Remember when Milim first introduced herself to Rimuru? "I am the one and only Dragonoid, Milim Nava.") On the left is Ramiris when she still hadn't "fallen". I won't get into who was on the right.

The scene where Rimuru learns of Shion's death is one of the most starkly moving and tragic scenes in all anime (that I've seen!), imo. You can really feel the anguish and hopelessness Rimuru feels. Asking those questions while Great Sage emotionlessly tries but fails to answer really shows the difference between the two. Notice they go out in the darkness. When Gobta screams his anguish, I feel like he's expressing the emotions Rimuru can't express. Then when Eren gives Rimuru hope, the sun rises and there is light. Actually it's not clear, but Rimuru spends 3 days there. He tries to preserve the bodies while searching for a way out of this reality. He also does things to preserve the souls when he realizes that the souls might still be there. He doesn't want them to dissipate within the barriers either.-------- The episode itself is entitled "Hope". In the course of this episode we are at our lowest point. During that 10 minutes between the time we learn about Shion and we find out we can possibly save her, was the most dangerous time for the series itself. If that hope had not appeared before the end of the episode, who knows how many viewers would not have come back for the next one?

You know, there’s a quote that anime does like to make use of in its medium quite often: “it’s always darkest before dawn…” So here’s the things I noticed, first you mentioned Clayman literally pulling the strings as a “Marionette Master,” but I don’t think you realized just how pun-ny you were being since he also controls the Harlequin force. It’s good to see Hakuro and Gobta haven’t lost any of their usual swagger, but what isn’t discussed in detail, mostly because Rimuru remedied it almost immediately - is the spatial-type wounding. Now I am unclear exactly what this is, but it seems that Falmuth soldiers have access to it, and that might be a problem. Also, Shuna is a gem of a person the way she’s working tirelessly to heal everyone even considering everything that’s happened to her personally. You know, I think we should probably start nicknaming you Cleopatra, because there’s been a lot of cases lately, where you’re the Queen of Denial. I do gotta ask if your equipment is okay, because I recall you saying that you would break everything if Shion died… well, she DID… even Shuna, her biggest rival for Rimuru’s attention, was sad about it. Rimuru asking Great Sage all the questions he’s got going on in his mind and her not being able to answer is really depressing, but it’s also understandable m. After things go this wrong, you start to wonder if you did anything right to begin with. Others would definitely say yes, but there’s a heavy burden on anyone with that kind of responsibility and Rimuru isn’t any different. The reason that Rimuru conjured up a replica of Shizu’s mask is because his emotions at Shion’s death let his power spike uncontrollably and he needed to suppress it before he did any accidental damage. It seems that the fairy tale involving the dragon and the Demon Lord is definitely Milim because by the end of the story, I can’t think of anyone else who’d be caught dead wearing that outfit… Also, leave it to Rimuru to take a problem and turn it into a solution with the whole double barrier prison which turns out to be a soul container for the deceased. I am only up to where you are but something just occurred to me - the reason Clayman is orchestrating all this is because of the Demon Lord seed. He planned for it to go to Geld - but now Rimuru has it, and that’s why he’s been undermining Tempest. I think Falmuth was already going to attack, but he gave them an extra nudge for this reason. That’s my working theory at the moment. Okay. I’m gonna stop here and point out there’s two very ironic things that tie into two other shows you’re current on… one is working on plans based on fairy tales. You know. The other is a character who happens to be named Eren telling someone a lot of people need to be wiped out. Take your time, I’m sure your mind will get them eventually. 😅 I think, however, that you are wrong. Rimuru’s trait is not mercy. If it was simply mercy, he wouldn’t be able to do what he’s planning and kill 20,000 soldiers. Now given what we know, they’re probably deserving. But a merciful ruler would give them a chance to surrender, even though he really has no choice now. Rimuru’s trait is actually forgiveness. He tends to see the best in everyone. Think about how he corralled the Kijin, the Orcs, and even what he does with Mjurran in this chapter. Although he’s definitely ticked, and probably shattering the heart was part of his release valve. But you kinda know, he’s not gonna do anything like that without a good reason behind it. This all SOUNDS like a good plan, but if Rimuru goes through with it and is responsible for this many deaths - however justified he is in doing so - what is that going to do to JTF’s reputation in the other kingdoms? And regarding his transformation into a Demon Lord, it was mentioned that they aren’t supposed to interfere with each other. Obviously it seems Clayman is breaking that rule, but is it just a rule is there something more to it, because we clearly will need to interfere with him at some point. More answers always lead to more questions, don’t they… 😂 Oh right, it’s an anime.

Tyler gave me a lot of food for thought. I like the concept of forgiveness as a candidate for Rimuru's trait. I feel I have to think about it but, as I hinted somewhere in one of my comments, mercy might not be the best description of Rimuru....The spatial attribute that was in the wound is because of the Unique Skill Severer that Kyoya the Otherworlder has. Spatial in this world can sometimes be equated with the air element, and it has to do with transport, connecting and separating spaces, dimensions, barriers. I can't be sure exactly how it works in wounds or why Rimuru can Predate it, but I'm thinking maybe it's like a barrier in the wound?....Taking responsibility is a big part of why and how Rimuru will take action. .....I'm not sure what a seed is really. Is it a thing that can be taken or is it just that all the prerequisite boxes have been checked? And if it's the latter, is it simply that Rimuru just got strong enough when he absorbed the Orc Lord?.....The aftermath? We will wait until later.

Oh see see that’s why the ENDING THEME! First off you are right Gobzo did not deserve that and it broke me down hearing Gobta’s screaming like that. Then Shion ugh it killed me for 3 seconds 😩 Any other show I’d say it’s impossible to revive but this was such a well thought out story. Like it just makes sense cause of all the stuff we went through. And the requirements met for the slim chance of reviving others is amazingly good cause it’s rimuru idk how to put into words. He’s the perfect chance we have if trying to accomplish this huge feat. They were not scared to scare us. They actually went there and then still VERY EMOTIONALLY tell us through the story that there is a chance we can bring them back because of what was placed around them. It’s just so brilliantly written! Plus the whole thing with Youm being appointed King in the future because he’s just the right man for the job haha. I needed this. The last episode was too much and this one too but we pulled through to the more optimistic ending. I’m rambling on different things but I’m just so happy after being so rattled. And the adventurers I was flabbergasted at when Eren told Rimuru she was a princess and that those two were her guards just off wanting to seek thrills. But after a second I thought knowing them and their usual routine with danger that actually makes sense lol 😅 But I liked that cause it shows how things can come back around. You treat people really well and one day they’ll help you right back.

Hi Spadeas! :) Oof, yeah, Rimuru was about to get way more serious there! I mean, you really can't blame him for having this kind of anger/feeling but...he is a super powered up being, which means there's a lot more extreme consequence if his emotions get out of check! It's a good thing Mjurran took that responsibility, it definitely helped snap Rimuru out of it. There were many stages of grief for Shion's death right!! Oh yes it's definitely an Ozma/Salem situation!!! Wow, so Milim is WAY more important to this story than I thought originally haha. Oof, yeah, that's how intense that aura was, wow. Ohhhhh I will take great pleasure in seeing Clayman get what's coming to him! And wow, gotta say, they truly made the wrong decision going after Rimuru, particularly after he's been through all this. Can't wait for more!

kamenriderhime

Ohhhhh missed opportunity there right!!! >.< Something tells me Rimuru will be more selective with mercy after this though. It's sad/ironic that it had to go this way, because Rimuru really had no interest in being a demon lord otherwise. Yeah it feels like Clayman is at least cashing in on this somehow. Yes, you did mention that about the church, good note. I can't wait for what's next!

kamenriderhime

Oh wow! I didn't realize that was her back story. Ohhh interesting about the magic as well. I knew it was Milim! I had forgotten she called herself a dragonoid but I happened to edit that ep right after seeing this lol. So there are older demon lords, makes sense, they've probably been going on a looong time. I didn't realize that was Ramiris! Hmm, who could the other be....

kamenriderhime

Oh it was devastating! Great Sage being helpless, Gobta's screams....! Oh wow, that's an interesting detail that there was some time that passed too, I didn't realize it. And Rimuru was just trying desperately to figure something out that whole time. Oof, such a good point about that 10 minutes...had hope not arrived, who knows if viewers would come back, OR what Rimuru what have done afterwards, story-wise lol.

2022-08-26 23:00:37 RIGHT!!!!! Now it makes sense! Omg, right?! It was awful!! Yes there was almost no possible way until there suddenly was, because we have built up so much of it already. If anyone could do it, it's Rimuru! YES, like they still DID it, and went through all the motions we would if it were going to be permanent. They had no chill with us! It was so well done! And King Youm is quite the development haha. We for sure needed this!!! And all of this is well said btw! Yeah after a little bit it kinda starts to make sense about the adventurers right?! Such a good point, Rimuru has done right by EVERYONE and didn't deserve this, now the folks he's helped are there for him and I can't because that's just so beautiful <33333

That quote definitely applies here!!! Oh I was even punnier than I intended!!! Shuna is amazing and I wasn't quite clear on the spatial type wounds either. Hahahah the equipment is safe for now....but boy if it had stuck....!!!! I might need to rename my channel to Cleopatra for sure hahaha. Shuna being sad at Shion's death, just goes to show how deep their bond went, when all was sad and done. Oof, asking Great Sage was a rough scene to get through. And yeah, it makes you question everything from the start....it's so hard to say what could/couldn't have led to this! Oh good call on the mask! That's how upset he was, understandably so. Hahaha that's one way to know it's Milim...for me it was the pigtails, but yeah, the outfit was a giveaway as well! RIGHT?! Like Rimuru just took a major thwart from the enemy and turned it into a soul-saving device, pretty impressive. OHHHHHHHHHHHH the demon lord seed....that's....that's actually quite a theory!!! It makes total sense! Yeah I think Falmuth and the Church had their reasons, but Clayman is manipulating/perpetuating according to his agenda. Hahaha fairy tales? Eren? This all seems vaguely familiar...!! Well, we don't know he won't give the soldiers a chance but yeah, it didn't sound like he was planning on showing mercy sooo....probably not then :P Forgiveness is a better way to put it. Clayman is for sure breaking the interference rule! And I have no clue what this will do for JTF's standing/reputation but....it would definitely affect it, good point. Ah yes, that should be the definition of anime right!!!! Guess we'll find out....!!

kamenriderhime

Yes!! Mercy probably isn't the best term in light of all this. Oh thanks for clearing that up about the spatial type wound! A barrier would make sense. Good question about the seed. I can't wait for more info!

Youm sorta indirectly mentioned this but the entire group he led, including Youm, before he met with Rimuru and gang, are criminals. They were let out for the purpose of exploration and as a vanguard. I perceived him to be a little more 'wild' of a man but he seemed to be the opposite in the anime.
