Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 2 episode 12 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime!  Okay, looks like I was worried over nothing!  Rimuru's totally still just Rimuru!!!  We get some much needed comic relief in this one, what with the whole Shion's cooking joke setup!!!  We also a whole lot of info on what the heck has been going on with this whole Milim attacking the Beast Kingdom thing.......and wow, it is NOT good!  Could have told ya it had to do with Clayman though!  Fingers crossed Carrion's still alive.  Diablo is now an established part of our crew, and last but not least....VELDORA!!!!!!!!!!!!  OMG!!!!  The family dragon is back, and in a jacked human form no less!!!!  XD XD XD  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Hi Hime :) I was as concerned as you watching this episode, especially when Rimuru acquires Merciless... Fortunately, this skill was sacrificed for Beelzebub, which is an evolution of Glutony and therefore more reassuring. But it's funny that now Rimuru is made evolved Great sage (which is something sacred in a sense) into Raphael (the name of an angel) and Glutony (a deadly sin) into Beelzebub (the name of a Devil). It keeps leaving Rimuru at the border, leaving him "gray" in a way. The king really didn't know who he was talking to... He found out quickly. The 12 is lighter and we needed it with all that happened just before. I also liked the running joke with Raphael being more fluent. She really doesn't want to admit it. But you will see that it has gained even more personality now. Well, I said it, you were going to scream at the end of the episode with Veldora making her comeback. And now that you see him, knowing that he shares his voice with Sun in the Japanese version of RWBY, you can easily imagine them both being friends. Two hot blonde dudes who can't hide their abs lol.

The reason there wasn't a next time on slime was because this was the end of the first cour and there was a break for a few months so they didn't want to seem like the next time was soon and leave you hanging.

About the demonic and the angelic, nice point about putting Rimuru into a gray area. It's strange in this story that good and evil are not as clear-cut a distinction. I thought the opposite of you, I wondered what about the two skills allowed them to coexist in the same person, and particularly why a demon lord could have angelic skills.

Hello again! One thing the JTF didn't account for in Rimuru's becoming a DL is that no one realized everyone would fall asleep. Benimaru and other top leaders were to stand by in case Rimuru were to go out of control and destroy him if he did become dangerous. But everyone was out of it.---- Everyone received gifts. The ones that died and came back to life all gained a Skill called Perfect Memory. It means you can kill them and even destroy the brain and they will still come back to life, all because all their memories are written on their souls, not just their physical brains. Basically they are immortal. Part of the wish-fulfillment aspect of becoming a Demon Lord. A couple of eps ago (Ep 10?), I said not all Official, recognized Demon Lords are True DL's. This means some never underwent an evolution, so there's no before-and-after personality. And as I pointed out last ep, there could be different reasons for a personality change.

Rimuru has 10 times more magicules. Back when Great Sage assessed Milim's level she said it was at least 10 times more. I explained some of this back then. I think I said that GS couldn't fully assess this because the difference was too great. Magicules aren't the only indicator of strength. Also battle experience, and especially Skills, Skill levels (e.g. Unique vs. Ultimate) and willpower contribute a lot. I never understood what gave Rimuru the impression that Carrion was still alive. Because something seemed fishy?

Here you get to see the kind of relationship Benimaru and Rimuru have outside of work. Benimaru is apparently the kind of guy who won't hesitate to slip in a practical joke into something serious like this. Diablo is fascinated by Rimuru. He doesn't want to miss a second of his master's development. He's got the most deviously analytical mind of all Rimuru's subordinates, and Rimuru needs someone like that. However much he's dedicated to his master, he's another one Rimuru has to herd. They all tend to go overboard in their zeal. Diablo has now gained a permanent physical body, so he never has to go back to the demon realm. (Rimuru offered all the bodies to Diablo when he summoned him.) This is what Razen was referring to when he said, "What kind of monstrosity has he unleashed on the world?". If Rimuru (just a hypothetical) were to die, these people would be out of control. Another thing, Diablo would later say that the moment Rimuru asked, "Who are you again?" was the first time he felt such intense fear in his life. Veldora picked the most suitable human form for his personality he could have chosen. He never had a human form before. Finally, the LN says Rimuru now looks to be 11-12 years old. What age did he look before? I think the slime form is supposed to be bigger too.

It seems that Benimaru had a great plan to put Rimuru on the spot… until Rimuru used Raphael to turn the literal tables on him. I think one of two things happen here: either Poison Resistance will evolve… or Benimaru is about to die a slow, painful, food-laden death… Meanwhile, what’s Shuna making for lunch, everyone? 😋 They did mention that the monsters tied to Rimuru all evolved but they haven’t really expanded more on that yet. It’ll be interesting to see how much of that they decide to cover in upcoming episodes. I think some of Rimuru’s empathy is rubbing off on his subjects, as Rigurd was unsure if he should set up spots for Eurazania refugees but he did it anyway. During the fight with Milim and Carrion, two things become clear: Milim is excessively strong, as all she needed was one power move to wipe out the entire kingdom - not, it’s a good thing they evacuated already… and something’s not right with her. Also, I’m pretty sure we all had the same reaction when we found out her and Frey went toward Clayman’s domain. (Insert mock shocked face here.) Btw, just so you’re aware, in the dialogue, Clayman’s last syllable is mon, like you hear in money. Clay Man sounds like a video game :P Rimuru’s turn to not read the room with Diablo, he doesn’t realize just how much his ignorance is wounding him - but he did just evolve so his memory is probably a little hazy. Speaking of which, naming Diablo took half of his magicules as a Demon Lord… which means it took five times as much as he originally had. Diablo was already super powerful… what is he now with a name!? And is this at all concerning? By the way, I wonder how a rematch with Hinata would go now…. I don’t know what to make of Veldora yet, he does say he’ll slaughter any who oppose him however… Now Rimuru’s been pretty good about picking his allies up to this point, but these latest two… I have a little concern and it’s not unfounded. Can Rimuru keep them in line with what he wants or are they going to be more wild cards? Also every time Rimuru asks Raphael if she’s speaking better, the text keeps getting bigger on screen. The running gag is on. Oh, before I forget, I’ll probably be in and out the next couple of weekends so I may be a little later putting comments down than usual. Prior RL obligations, you know how it is. Can’t always live in fictional land. :) I’m not speaking more eloquently. IT’S YOUR IMAGINATION.

Manny

It’s nice to get some time with our people. Shion is baaaaaack!!! Squeeee I can’t get over it 😃 😤

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Oh yeah, it was scary! Thanks for being concerned! Yes I agree it's a great way to emphasize the gray area Rimuru is in!! Donna, interesting that you had the opposite feeling. Oh yeah, the king should have been more careful lol. Hahahah the fluency joke was great and I was happy that 12 was lighter! OMG NO WAY!!!! You know what's funny, I was gonna mention he was giving me total Sun vibes. Now I know why!!!!!!!

kamenriderhime

Hi ! Oh interesting that they didn't account for falling asleep. WHOA, that is quite a power! Ohhhh so that's what it means to be a true DL - to undergo the evolution. Good to know the personality doesn't change like that.

kamenriderhime

Okay thanks for clearing that up, I couldn't remember! It makes sense that there's more to power than just magicules. Also yeah, I can't tell if it's hopefulness or there's an actual reason!

kamenriderhime

Hahaha I love the joke! It is nice to have someone as analytical as Diablo, but yeah, seems like this will be another case where Rimuru has to reign someone in a bit. Oh interesting about the physical body! Oof, that's a morbid but good point that if Rimuru went out of control, there would be lots of chaos! Aww that's kinda sad that he felt such fear when Rimuru didn't know him! That form definitely suits Veldora! Oh I didn't realize the slime form was bigger! And I would have guessed Rimuru looked 11-12 before, so I'm not sure how much younger than that he was supposed to look!

kamenriderhime

Hahaha the joke was so amazing!!! Yeah if anything was gonna push poison resistance to evolve, this would be it. :P Whatever Shuna's cooking, I'm guessing it's slightly more palatable! I'll look forward to learning more about the monsters' evolution! Aw yes, that was a nice touch with Rigurd, it could be proof that Rimuru's subjects are learning empathy more and more. Yes it was for sure evident that Milim is not right and also waaayyy too strong! Lol yeah I could have told you this had to do with Clayman! Oops, I keep saying "man" in his name don't I. I'm also trying to get out of the habit of saying "Carrion" like "carry on", as in a carry-on bag, or Carry on My Wayward Son. :P I mean, Rimuru's been through a lot so I guess it's okay to let the not remembering thing side haha. Oh yeah, Diablo was WAY powerful without a name, and that did take a lot of magicules (although we have so many more now)....so yeah, we should probably all be afraid! That's just what I was thinking about the rematch with Hinata! Hmm, I mean, Veldora's choice of phrasing is concerning, and the last few companions Rimuru has chosen are also concerning. Could we be a little out of our depths here? Guess we'll find out! Hahaha the running gag is pretty good! Oh my gosh, please take as long as you need with comments, there's no deadline or rush whatsoever, and we all have real-life stuff!!! Even I do every once in a while, despite doing my best to live inside fictional land nonstop :P Hope you enjoy your weekend!!! Also, to address your last line of text: (despondent Rimuru voice): "......ok...." :P

myst0dreamer

I just remembered that Perfect Memory protects against mind control too, because any alterations to the mind can be restored from the soul memories. This includes Shion.

myst0dreamer

I was just reminded that another key aspect of strength is that they have to understand their Skill, and practice it. Rimuru has Raphael to explain things, but many don't know how to use their Skill or what it's capable of. The higher the level of the Skill, the more this is true.

ABHB Ya-iba

I kinda like Milim in her combat form. It is kinda cool and... elegant, wait, wrong anime. One thing that the anime might missed, Veldora, the dragon, is the considered as spiritual being like Ifrit and fairies. They don't have their actual body, unless a medium is used. In Veldora's case, he seems to think that his body has no use since he's in Rimuru's stomach, so he just digested it away and return to a spiritual form which need a body. In Rimuru's stomach, he has no problem, but as he come out, he needs a body or else he will vanished. That's why Rimuru created a body double for him to posessed. Fun fact: In novel, or might it be in the manga. Raphael is not the one who come up with the idea of sending Benimaru's prank back to himself. The one who came up with that idea is Ifrit! The very same Ifrit that tied to Shizu's soul and make her suffer. He is now... in Kamen Rider terms, gained Singularity and came up with this idea when Raphael asked both who are in Rimuru stomach.

ABHB Ya-iba

More to that, if I'm understanding correctly, Rimuru's now described in the novel that he's so beautiful that people would really and seriously admire him. If he present at the noble's or famous one's meeting, one might think that he is that noble's secret wife. Once, Rimuru just walk in straight to his target unaware that they has important meeting, because the one who suppose to tell him that his target is busy is surprised and bemused by his beauty. And that one is not punished, because his boss clearly see that why he make that mistake, and he almost fall for Rimuru charm to.

kamenriderhime

Yeah it's cool! HAHAHA oops, wrong series! Ohhhh thanks for clarifying about the bodies! WHOA, that changes a lot that Ifrit came up with the prank! Wow! And whoa, that's some intense beauty!!!!

myst0dreamer

Gee, I don't remember Ifrit came up with that answer.

myst0dreamer

Mjollmile for one. He tries to hide it, but he thinks of Rimuru as 'my goddess', and he has a portrait on his wall with Rimuru wearing the outfit he wore when he saved Mjollmile's life, except he has angel's wings. There are some other people who feel this way. Incidentally they say his hair is silvery with water-blue tones in it.

myst0dreamer

Only thing I want to mention is that there are different types of spiritual beings. Some differences are, for example, some are actually from another realm, like demons, and they have different degrees of dependence on the physical body, and more.

myst0dreamer

I didn't notice that the text for "It's your imagination" gets bigger each time, thanks for pointing that out. Also, Merciless doesn't completely disappear, it just becomes a little harder to use, absorbed into the subskill of Beelzebub called "Soul Consume". Raphael has a subskill also called Ability Adjust which can analyze Skills (from just observing the effects in the Stomach), reorganizing them, and optimizing them. Raphael acted on the former Receive and Provide which has become Food Chain (a part of Beelzebub), where all the new Skills of his connected subordinates have been collected, and Raphael then organized and optimized them into four or five subskills, only the ones that fit Rimuru, and placed them in the new Uriel, Lord of Vows. Raphael used Unlimited Imprisonment as a basis. Raphael's Ability Adjust subkill also enables him (he actually lets Raphael handle this) to assign Skills to his underlings, according to their abilities, although some want to earn them completely by their own efforts. Rimuru feels a sense of peace and connection through the Uriel Skill. It is the Lord of Vows, aka Lord of Covenant, after all.

kamenriderhime

That's so fun!! Ohhh interesting, so it is still in there somewhere. Thanks for explaining how all the skills work! That makes sense about the peace and connection he'd feel through that skill. It's nice to have it laid out here to look over instead of it flashing quickly on the screen, thanks!

kamenriderhime

Oh wow, the portrait says it all! Also thanks for clarifying about the varying levels of spiritual beings!

myst0dreamer

It's this that really makes Rimuru OP. In fact, now I think about it, you can add it to that list I made where I talk about where Rimuru's potential comes from (Ep. 10). And, once again they never tell you that all the Kijin evolve into Oni. The sleep they fell into is called "the sleep of evolution", but a few people have been able to resist it; Diablo is a case in point due to his great self-control.

kamenriderhime

I definitely see what you mean! Also good note about the evolution into Oni. Hmm, interesting about the resistance. Thanks for the info!
