Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction to episode 131!  OKAY NOW I HAVE SEEN EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!  WOW you guys, I can't believe I started out this ep worried that Gon might be vulnerable right now.  Turns out Gon has, out of sheer grief and rage, turned himself into something else.  If I'm understanding this correctly, he's sacrificed many years, and perhaps even the rest of his life, in exchange for this power.  Pitou never stood a chance, sheesh.  But if they think for ONE SECOND that they're gonna somehow kill Gon right now, let me tell you that I'm going into FULL ON DENIAL MODE!!!!  I have no idea what's gonna happen next, but great ep!  Enjoy!!  ~ MH

This is one of my favorite episodes of anime PERIOD. We have heard since *episode 6* how this kid is a monster/will grow to be a monster, and now we finally see the full effect. He is selfless to a fault, he doesn’t care if he could lose his Nen, if he could die, all that matters is wiping any trace of Pitou from existence. He’s selfishly selfless. And everything else just adds onto the writing. Megumi Han’s voice acting, the music, the animation, everything throughout the episode makes it an absolute masterpiece. The animation of Gon transforming is unbelievable! As long of a journey as it is to get here, it makes the previous 130 episodes absolutely worth it.

kamenriderhime

It's such a great one! Selfishly selfless is a great way to put it!! Couldn't agree more about how on point everything is here! And the animation!!! It was a long road for sure but totally worth it!

Cody

It’s funny cause I’d technically been spoiled on Gon’s transformation several times but I hadn’t known it. I’d seen several gifs on Twitter of when his face was black and white at the end of his transformation (right before Pitou tried her initial attack) & when he cried in front of Killua. But I either didn’t put together they were from HxH or didn’t realize they were both Gon. XD

kamenriderhime

Oh wow no kidding! Hahah well that's good in a way, you weren't totally spoiled then! It was still quite a surprise when you saw the actual scene in its entirety, I'm sure!!

Cody

I’m not positive cause it’s been a few years, but I think my brain didn’t fully process having seen those before until the episode ended cause I was so immersed in everything lol

Spadeas

Hi Hime :) For the whole Kite things, I'm just saying, without saying too much, that you still have surprises to come. I had gently tried to show you the direction that Gon took, comparing him to Killua and I think I did well, because you immediately understood that it was a nen contract. Gon had to sacrifice everything he had to achieve this form and this power and we already know that he already has a lot of power. He has already been called a monster more than once and now even real monsters like Pitou recognize him as such, a power comparable to the king, knowing that Netero hasn't done so much damage to him, it puts Gon at this moment there, as one of the most powerful beings. Despite all that is happening, we can still appreciate the staging of this transformation, which sublimates the whole thing. The music, the animation, the acting, everything is done so that this scene shocks you and leaves you speechless while you watch it. Without saying too much, I hope you still have some tears in store, because there is still an emotional moment to come before the end of this arc. Just to end on a lighter note, this form of Gon with his incredibly long hair got a lot of memes to mock the ridiculousness of his hair length. There is a figurine for example, where 3/4 are just his hair. It's pretty funny to see.

Manny

Yeah just for confirmation, I think in Pitou mind she was looking for an opening to kill Gon. This was not even satisfying when one watches it because taking down something like Pitou should have been an awesome sight. But this was just a sad scene to witness. It’s a win but something special like Gon was lost.

kamenriderhime

Oh okay, thanks for clarifying! Exactly!!!!!!!! This would have been an awesome triumphant moment in any other series, but the emphasis here is not on finally destroying Pitou, it's on destroying Gon :((((( Also how are you feeling Manny?!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Ohhhh I'm not sure if I dare have any hope left in my heart, but I'll look forward to seeing what happens next! You definitely did well nudging me in the right direction!!! I'm so glad I understood! That's crazy to think that Gon is far more powerful than even Netero here, he truly has lived up to being a monster. Oh yes, the setup is amazing in every way!!!!!!! Ughh lol, I always have more tears :(((( Hahaha! Also I definitely wanna check out the hair memes!! And the figure lol!!!!!!!!

Manny

Yes for sure! :,( Also I’m an honorable feeling was coming from Pitou and same time I think they were grateful that THAT power was not going to be used on the king. And yea thank you so much. There’s still pain, a lot has gone down since yesterday. I’m not sure if that intense pain will come back again but I’m doing alright for now. A bit embarrassed, cause I was told I said a lot of silly things from the looniness of that laughing gas or whatever. I was told I kept asking the doctor none stop if I could have ice cream. And now I get to eat ice cream for breakfast 😏 😮‍💨 😷

Spadeas

To reassure you, the moment of which I speak is sad, but beautiful, rather than sad and devastating like this one, and that in itself is quite ironic, but I'll talk about it when you reach it.

kamenriderhime

Ohhh that's a good point too, that power can only be used for so long, so in a way Pitou was taking one for the team I guess. Aw you're so welcome! I'm glad the pain is getting better! Haha I'm sure you're not the first one to have that happen with the laughing gas though! YAY ice cream for breakfast!!! Hope you keep feeling better!

The-Buddyguard

Sooo, much like you, I have no words about the episode, which is uncommon. But seeing you break down like that, just made me want to hug you like you wanted to hug Gon 😅😥 I probably won't have anything to say until next week, or whenever I comment next. But I would like to say I never thought a year ago that you'd be one of my favorite reactors, and I'm really enjoying this "trip back to Disneyland" with you. Stay strong, my girl. Stay strong 🙏 😂🙏

Headmaster

Pitou’s power is absolutely insane. In the manga Pitou is referred to as the top Royal Guard and is still the strongest aside from Gon and the King. If Netero didn’t have the bomb in his chest, it’s likely Pitou would have killed him the same way the king could have, just with more effort. When Netero attacked Pitou she didn’t take any damage or even Bleed, but the king did at first. Also when the king hit all the Royal guard, the only one who wasn’t launched back was Pitou and he was trying to kill her. All in all I think this is the best episode of the series and it deserves applause.

kamenriderhime

It just leaves you in shock, right?! AWWWWWW thank you for wanting to hug me :D I'll look forward to your thoughts next week! And oh my gosh, I'm so happy to hear I've become one of your faves!!! That means a lot <3 Thanks for the encouragement, I'm gonna need it!!!!!! Have a great weekend :D

kamenriderhime

It is! Pitou is scary strong. Makes sense that they're almost right on par with the King! I do remember that Pitou stood their ground, literally, when the king attacked! This was a great ep for sure, even if it was hard to get through!

The-Buddyguard

OK, I'm good lol. I gotta say, it's been a while since I felt the full emotional brunt of these two eps, and I blame you for that, haha. Does Togashi have the pure unbridled nerve to kill Gon off? I believe so, though that doesn't appear to be the case. That said, if the repercussions of Kurapika are considerably extensive, we can only imagine how much worse off Gon is. It's all so terriying, Gon's resolve for revenge, Pitou to Meruem, Killua to Gon. It's tragically unhealthy, yet undeniably has admirable elements too--if only they had the chance to channel it in healthier ways 😔

kamenriderhime

Hahaha sorry!!! :P I do believe he has the nerve, although that's not what happened here. Seriously, these feelings are rooted in somewhat good intentions but dang, they are really pushed to the worst extreme here!!! And yeah, I can't imagine Gon will have any kind of life like he used to after this, I honestly don't know what will happen to him!!! Guess we'll find out....
