Hey everyone!!!  I'm back with episode 4 of Andor!  Wow, we're really digging deep now!!!  We work through some stuff with Cassian's new crew, Mon Mothma is having a hard time at home, and Luthen is nervous?!?!  That's a new look for him!
Oh yeah, and let's not forget that we're dealing that one guy and his mom, which I honestly don't know what to expect now lol, and this new Imperial officer who's getting dangerously close to being onto us.  I really felt invested in everyone's story in this one, even moreso than before.  Can't wait to see more!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

“Wow, the production value is really good on this show!” There’s a reason: at this point Disney knows Star Wars stuff sells - so they have no issue putting their full financial backing into it. So far, I’d say it’s working pretty well. This is a setup episode, where you’re moving a lot of pieces into their final positions before the big game, but there’s one major underlying theme and that’s trust. Karn’s gone home after his colossal screwup, and there’s not really anything more demeaning to a guy than having your mom call in a favor for you. Now the real question here is who’s this Uncle Harlo character, and can he be trusted by him? Also he really doesn’t seem to like that cereal… maybe Pumpkin Pete’s would be more to his liking? Also he’s not forgotten about Cassian. You just KNOW this story isn’t over. Mon Mothma’s got problems of her own as both Perrin and Leida seem to feel estranged by her. It’s really unclear just how much her family knows about her dealings. I think what might have caused the argument in the first place was she intended to do things covertly while taking her daughter. There’s also a weight that’s borne by people like her: you may not be doing it intentionally but with everything else going on, it can be super hard to balance a personal life and that might be why the dynamic is how it is. Also… I don’t think we see either her husband or child later, so that’s not a great sign. Blevin is up to his own agenda on Morlana One, establishing a new order of sorts? It might also be distracting him so Dedra can investigate more. The Empire might not trust intuition but she is trusting her instincts. The Empire’s biggest flaw is that it doesn’t think about the little people, not even their own. Gorn’s got a lot of trust in the mercenary crew but he has to keep up appearances, so he keeps snapping at officers to stay on schedule. I think he was upset because soldiers were using the old temple for target practice - and that’s where the natives are coming. There’s also his reaction when the one soldier said he couldn’t imagine a couple thousand in one place and he could. Sometimes it’s better to just let an actor’s face tell the story. If they’re good, you’ll get it. He also smirked a little after threatening the soldiers that they couldn’t see the Eye unless they finished painting as he was walking off. Being a double agent is stressful. Speaking of trust, the rebels don’t have much m. Vel’s under siege for inviting Cassian, Cassian’s under siege just for being there, and nobody really trusts him. Skeen keeps taking his stuff for inspection on top of the crystal incident, Nemik seems fairly hurt that someone would be in this just for the money, and Tamaryn isn’t sure about any suggestions Cassian has without putting him through twenty questions. Also, he was told Tamaryn was completely in charge, you know that’s gonna get tested somehow. Luthan’s just hanging out by the radio. He also felt he was careless and if not careful, he knows Cassian could be traced back to him. So like it or not: he has to put trust in them as well. But the waiting is the hardest part. The axe forgets, but the tree remembers. While there’s a personal application to it, everyone in this mission has been affected by the Empire in some way. And the Empire probably doesn’t even realize it. Anyway since you said it’s taking a while, here’s a character’s name list for ya, maybe it’ll help you out for some of the players. Also, subtitles do that too. :) Cassian Luthan Mon Mothma Rebels Vel - Leader Ciinta - other female Skeen - the guy with the markings and knife Nemik - the idealist who’s all in on the cause Tamaryn - the African American individual in charge Lieutenant Gorn - The imperial double agent Syril Karn - the corporate police officer who was fired and has a bead on Cassian Dedra - the imperial officer who’s putting the pieces together Blevin - her superior, who’s in charge of the cleanup Karn was responsible for Perrin - Mon Mothma’s husband Leida - her daughter

I'll be honest I'm not sure where else to comment this but, there is another show on Disney+ that I think that you would love. It's called "The Orville" and it is currently nominated for "Best Sci-Fi show" for the Saturn Awards. There are 3 seasons and if you are looking for a funny, more light hearted action show that has A LOT of Star Trek cameos then you will love The Orville.

Lol the back and forth banter talk was amusingly cute in a way. Gotta love moms

Oh I've heard of The Orville!!! It's popped up on my polls a few times! I'd like to check it out in the future!!

First off thank you so much for all the name info!!! Yeah Disney knows their cash cows for sure! Oh yeah, the Karn stuff is definitely not over! He seems to be at his lowest which means he has nothing to lose. I'm so curious about Uncle Harlo. Also Pumpkin Pete's hahaha!!! It's not very good for you you know :P Yeah I agree with your thoughts on Mon Mothma, that position in and of itself can be really tough on family life, and she's got the added stress of all the covert dealings. Good call that they're not seen later...oof!! Such a great point that the Empire really does not trust any individual or their thoughts/perceptions, a big part of their ultimate downfall, even when it comes to their own members. Gorn has a big part to play for sure! Yeah it seems the rebels are pretty low on trust. Good point about the quote and how it relates to everyone involved here being affected by the Empire. Sorry it took me so long to get back to you! Looking forward to more of this show - thanks again for the info!

Whilst this is a 'slower' episode, its setting things in motion expertly. We get more background on our heist crew, why they are fighting and their distrust of Cassian helping cover up their natural fears; especially when they can see he is clearly capable of doing this, probably far better than any of them. "The axe forgets but the tree remembers" - what a great line, showing the damage the Empire is doing out there across the galaxy, but its such a monstrous machine, it doesn't stop to consider the hate thats developing out there for it. There are still billions of people who support the Empire, and who have vested interests in it, but those who have been hurt, remember that pain and are on the cusp of beginning the fight back. All the characters showing doubts here, even outside our heist crew, with Luthen needing support and knowing that tomorrow will either bring joy or total anarchy. Even the imperial ISB agent who seems to be on the right path, needing her colleague to tell her to keep at it and results will come. Then there is Mon Mothma who feels she doesn't have support in her own family; her hubby looks like an imperial sympathiser, and their daughter definitely sides with him. This makes Mothma feel even more isolated and doubtful whether to go along the course of rebellion soon. And of course we have Syril getting an earful from his mother, and in the end he flicks on the holo of Cassian to show his failure all the more, and will incentivise him to get back on the hunt to capture him. This heist will have a lot of repurcussions.

kamenriderhime

Yes, very true! And it's such a great line! The Empire is so massive that they don't stop to think about the consequences of their actions. Doubt does seem to be a central theme here. Poor Mon! Yeah I think Syril (that's his name, sorry I keep forgetting lol) is definitely gonna pick up where he left off at some point. You can say that again!!!!!!
