Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 3, episode 9 of REBELS!!!!  HONDOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!  YES!!!!  I know he's not a "good" guy, as Ezra sadly had to learn here, but dang if I don't love being entertained by the man.  This was a great episode in showing that while Ezra has grown a lot, he still has some hard lessons to learn.  And also, he learned who he can really count on!!  This was such a fun ep, I'm so grateful we got another blessed Hondo appearance haha.  Great ep!  Enjoy!!!  ~ MH

Never mind Hondo returning, Melch!! He is a bit of a legend that 'fragrant' little pirate Ugnaught! Love the door joke returning later in the episode when they need cover and Ezra had bored out the centre with his lightsabre! He is indeed learning that Hondo cannot be trusted for anything, though that loveable rapscallion does really like Ezra to be fair. One of the background treasures is the ark of the covenant from Indiana Jones, which also featured in a Clone Wars episode where it was stolen from Ryloth; so this was where it ended up! Chopper making a run for it at the end, to hell with bothering about Ezra and Zeb, haha! Love Zeb's line that he hopes his fuel runs out though! :D

This episode is one of my favourite of the whole series, despite it only being a one off. Hugely entertaining in all sorts of ways. The dialogue is especially great! My favourite line, for some reason, is when Azmorigan says "She hit me with a tray" with that tone of voice he has: it cracks me up every time :-D On Ezra's blind spot with regards Hondo, I think part of it is based upon a nice quality in Ezra: loyalty. I also wonder if Ezra to some extent hasn't let go of his more care free past - and Hondo perhaps reminds Ezra of this; although, alternatively, you could argue it is just scripted like this not because Ezras seeming trust is believable but just because of the entertainment value the audience gets from it :-)

I think with a lot of the stuff going on elsewhere, we probably needed a Hondo episode to brighten things up. Also, I don’t think “delightful” is the term I would use for Hondo - I’d say… entertaining? Maybe? There are certain lessons you can only learn from firsthand experience no matter how much your “elders” want to impart them to you. Also, while Ezra has gotten a lot more capable, I don’t know what it is, but some of his emotions seem to have… Im-matured a little? He pretty much flat out had no regard for Zeb during the entire episode, after Hera put him in charge. I get you’re miffed, but this is a team effort. “I hope nothing goes wrong” is about as bad to say in this show as “I have a really bad feeling about this…” 😅 Oh, and you knew as soon as there was a time limit that they were going to end up right at the deadline escaping the ship. It’s Rebels 101, weren’t you paying attention in class? 😃 “Every man for himself!? You’re a droid!” I calculate that Chopper has 38.5% more personality than most humans. 🙃

It's super entertaining for sure! HAHAHAH that was a great line and so well delivered!! Yes, Ezra's loyalty is a big part of this. I can definitely see how a lot of factors of Ezra's past could be at play here. But yeah, the entertainment value has gotta be right up there in terms of reasons!!!!

Oh yes, I couldn't agree more about the much needed joy that Hondo has brought! Lol he's entertaining alright, I do also find him delightful :P That's the thing, some lessons just have to be learned that way. Hmmm, good call about his emotions here. That's an interesting point. Yeah by now we should totally know it's a team effort! OMG so true, the tropes are there for a reason people, I should really know this all by now haha. Oh yeah in terms of personality, Chopper might be more human than anyone :O
