Hey everyone!!!  I'm back with episode 12 of Andor!  WOW!!!  What a finale!!!  Even in death, Marva gave one heck of an inspiring speech!!!  Cassian's fully on board with the rebellion now, to the point he was willing to take a chance and stand in front of Luthen, whoa.  Glad that all the friends, including Bix and Bee, got off to safety!!!  Poor Mon had to follow through with some of those less desirable arrangements, oof.  And it looks like we're setting up a possible team-up between Dedra and Syril, hmm!!!  So psyched for season 2!!  What a great show!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Haha I'm glad you didn't miss the post-credit thingymajig. The parts the robots were putting in place, were the pieces they were making in prison. Someone I saw theorised this a few weeks back and I rechecked Rogue One when the dish was getting installed, and it indeed looked like those pieces; so good to get a callback on them, and to note that Andor was building part of something that would cause his death, but that he'd also have a part in bringing down. Will watch the rest of your reaction tomorrow Mel and post my full comments then. Great finale though to a great season.

It seems that the manifesto anemic gave Cassian is something he’s been listening to and considering. But it’s right: the Empire’s oppression is built on fear. Not just fear of being opposed, but fear of losing. Palpatine himself is an example of fear - both the way he projects to others to scare them and the way he acts to crush any revolt. So it’s only natural that everything the Empire has reflects the same motives. But at the end of the day, the Empire squeezed too hard: and there was a breaking point. And we all know what happened next. The whole funeral procession is kind of a reflection of that entire thing. It started with mournful reflection which might indicate the “sleeping” Maarva was talking about. Then it turned spunky, and hopeful - then the speech was kind of an “open your eyes” moment for everyone. As far as the ISB, Blevin did seem to address that one individual as Kreegyr so I am slightly confused - could it be that he sold out his own squad if that’s the case? I might be misinterpreting that scene. But either way, one thing is certain: Saw listened to what Luthen had to say… and decided that fifty lives were a price worth paying. Dedra isn’t so pleased, but she’s also been shaken by the events of this episode - she looks like someone who’s never had to deal with being in the middle of chaos like that… perhaps her and Syril can share notes. Also if she did get shot… that was unclear… I don’t think it’s serious. Mon is playing the long game with her gambling accusation to Perrin. See, you need to remember she not only has to fix the banking accounts… she has to make HIM believe the accounts are being fixed… and she knows that the Empire’s listening. She also needs him on board with Leida’s “introduction” to Davo Sculdun’s son, and this is how she’s arranging it. Cassian isn’t going to let this slide, but I think hearing what Maarva said - both from Brasso (his friend with the brick) and her speech in the square) is what led him to search out Luthen - because at the heart of the matter, Cassian knows Luthen would much rather make an ally of him than eliminate him. Well, now we know what they were building in Nirvana Five. So that’s where they got all the manual labor for the Death Star. It’s starting to make sense. Given this shows is confirmed to be pre-Rebels I wonder if we will have any tie ins? The Empire constantly has to work to suppress - and they finally squeezed too tight - and the response was more than they bargained for. The moral of this story is that the only way evil thrives is when good men choose to do nothing and let it happen. But you can only push a people… or indeed, a Galaxy… so far. Very interesting series, but very well crafted. Here’s hoping they can get all the actors back because the entire cast did a stellar job and it’s be a shame if they didn’t get any recognition - not just as a Star Wars franchise, but overall. I’d need to think about it but this MIGHT be the best acting ensemble we’ve had in a Star Wars series to date and they need to get some kudos… all of them! So, now you have to decide what to do next! :)

That was incredible. The speech was wonderful. :,) And the riot was terrifying but yeah can’t sleep. ✊

Whilst the last two episodes have felt slightly contrived, to get us all in one place at the funeral for everything to come together; the pieces to arrange it in this way have been placed so well, that we care about what is going to happen to the characters here - even Dedra! It was an emotive finale and one in which we see everything that Cassian has learnt over this past year, come to fruition. When we first meet him, he is a parasitic selfish worm. One who can charm credits and favours out of those around him, but he is only in it for himself. Over the course of the season though, those around him have inspired him to start to become selfless and make him start to believe in the cause to rid everyone of this 'rust', 'darkness' and corruption of what the Empire is to the galaxy. Nemik, Maarva, Kino, Melshi, Braso and Bix, have all helped him open his eyes and seek to join the fight, instead of running away with his head down - just like what Jyn tells him in Rogue One. Its been a believable journey and we can start to see the seeds of the fervent rebel he will become in a few years. I do like the 'try' line from Nemik's manifesto that Cassian listens to. These people aren't Jedi, they are just ordinary folk who will find that if they rise up, they will be strong enough to take on the Empire if they have the will to do so. The Jedi that are remaining may be able to help them, but it is the general populus that must take the fight to the Empire, if they are to rid the galaxy of this tyranny. I love the look on Luthen's face, who is deep in thought when listening to Maarva's speech. He sees that there are other ways that people will rise up against this tyranny - that the spark of rebellion is upon us, and that it won't be long before there is fire across the galaxy, as more join the cause. Mon Mothma putting her husband under the bus to give the Empire an explanation for the missing funds in her account, is well done; but she realises she has to become adaptable and bend her ideals, so that the funding for the rebellion gets underway. Now that she is linked with Davo as well, this should become easier. Lets see if her daughter's marriage is a better one than hers and Perrin's. I wonder where the Dedra and Syril story will go. I'm kind of repelled by both, and at the same time, can't take my eyes off either! This has been an excellent - near faultless - season, one that will be able to hold its own against the better Star Wars movies, Mando, TCW and Rebels. Season 2 has begun filming this week, lets hope that when it arrives in two years, that it will be equally as good.

Yeah me too!! That's why I always check haha. Whoa, it's really eerie to think that the pieces Cassian was building would contribute to his own death! Great way to bring it full circle though. Yes, it's been awesome to see Cassian's transformation over the course of this series - between the influence of his friends and family, and the experiences he's endured, he's definitely changed into more of the Andor we know from Rogue One! That's such a good point about the manifesto - the majority of the rebels are just ordinary people, not Jedi or force users, and the rebellion is mostly all on them. Luthen's expression was great! You can see him really internalizing Marva's words. Mon had to make some tough choices for sure, but it's true that we won't be able to make this rebellion work without being flexible like you said. I felt really bad about the daughter - even though she and Mon don't have a good relationship, it's still sad to see the lengths Mon had to go to! That's such a great way to word it regarding Dedra and Syril!!! I agree haha. Whoa, so awesome that season 2 has begun filming!!! I agree that this holds up really well! Can't wait for more!

kamenriderhime

Yes!!!! So inspiring!!! The riot was scary for sure but I suppose it's better than just letting the Empire have their way!!

kamenriderhime

Yeah, I love that they brought the manifesto back into it! And so true - the Empire isn't just about eliciting fear, it's about fear of losing. So true about Palpatine - you can see that same sense of desperation to squash any opposition in the way the Empire carries out all its policies. But yeah, you can only squeeze so much before people just can't take any more! And although the Empire is massive, it's still small compared to every single individual EVERYWHERE in the galaxy who has been hurt by the Empire. The speech was great!!! Loved how triumphant it got. Yeah I was confused about that too, I thought for sure I'd messed up when he said Kreiger lol. Yup, Saw got on board apparently. Yeah I think Dedra's wound is fine if she did get one, but they way she was shaken up actually kinda reminded me of Syril when he got totally toasted in battle earlier in the season. So maybe they will have that in common and put their heads together. Mon had to move some serious pieces around the board to make this work, but I get it! Good point about Cassian's view of Luthen - and fortunately it turns out he was right! Yup, kinda eerie to think that's what they were building, but it makes sense! Oooohhh I'd love a Rebels tie in! That's so well said, about the only way that evil thrives!!!! I couldn't agree more about the cast - so many of these actors deserve awards for their performances!! Serious kudos!!! So, since I'm a bit overbooked on shows at the moment (I like to keep it close to 5 and I'm currently at 8), I think I'll go ahead and replace both Andor and Rebels with Mando season 3 when it comes out in Feb! For now, I won't be replacing Andor / Mob / Spy x Family as they end, to try and get back down to a more manageable schedule!!!! :D

This was definitely my favorite episode. It was just beautiful. The slow build with the town marching and the music was so emotional, and the fact that Bee getting knocked over is what started the riot is great! And Cassian’s friend smacking that Imperial with Marva’s brick is just amazing, it’s what she would’ve wanted! XD

Only just seen this. I thought it was a solid season finale - no massive surprises but it was well done. My favourite bits included: Maarva's funeral procession (if that's what it should be called) BEFORE her holographic call to action: it reminded me of a New Orleans style Jazz funeral. Maarva's speech/ call to action. I know I've said this before but the actress Fiona Shaw is such a great actress, with a really strong screen presence, and I think that speech worked so well very much in part because of that. The after credits end scene showing the Death Star construction: neatly confirming what we were all suspecting: that the parts Cassian and the other inmates were building, with their slave labour, were parts for the death star - Cassian was contributing to the construction of the very thing that will eventually kill him. Even more ironic, he was directly contributing to the weapon the Death Star uses. Question: over what planet was the Death Star being constructed?

kamenriderhime

Glad you enjoyed it! That's a great point about the New Orleans style funeral too. Loved the speech and couldn't agree more about the actress! Yikes, that's a pretty scary thought that Cassian helped build the thing that would kill him. The weapon specifically!!! Wasn't it over Geonosis?? Or am I remembering that wrong??

Nick

I was wondering if the Death Star was over Scarif when we saw it?
