Hey everyone!  Here's my next reaction to MHA!  Oh dang guys....seeing the ease with which All for One reclaimed his body, demolished the prison, went on to wreck and let loose other prison, etc. - I guess it's not surprising at this point, but wow is it devastating.  I can already tell the League is not gonna be on board!!!  I guess we'll see what happens there.  Seeing all the heroes in recovery trying to make sense of this was tough, and watching the Todorokis have to deal with the public outcry is heartbreaking.  But guys, nothing, NOTHING prepared me for what happened to Izuku....!!!  TELL ME THEY DIDN'T END THE EPISODE THERE!!!!  What on earth....I'm not gonna be able to handle this season, am I?  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

2023-02-10 21:50:32 I love this episode and reaction even though it’s dark & bleak. I thought your discussion at the start about the whole situation, state of hero society and what the villains want to do was very poignant and well said. I was 1 of the people commenting about the opening/ending visuals so it was awesome to hear you talking about our comments <3. Now onto Tartarus this “prison” another thing that is a flaw of hero society. I hate to tell you but based on the wording they not only imprison criminals but people with quirks that the government decides are too dangerous. So in this world you can be thrown in this terrible prison just because of the power you were born with something you can’t control which is some dystopian shit. Although there are also dangerous or crazy criminals here as well. The heroes guarding the front gate design wise and their names are actually based on giants with many arms from Greek mythology called Hecatoncheires or the hundred handed ones. These heroes just having miniguns is kind of crazy. This place also has the same kind of robots as UA although I imagine they are more heavy duty and are built to kill. Of course there was a Nomu with a shield. All for one attacking immediately when his body is damaged and he should be resting was really smart because they wouldn’t expect it and so many heroes are down or close to death right now. This guy talking about how these villains are monsters definitely has a discrimination angle to it but I also think it’s a commentary on how many people view criminals in real life. I personally believe jail should be for rehabilitation except in the case where mental illness makes rehabilitation impossible but in hero society at this point most people view villains as irredeemable which through Gentle Criminal we know is not true. On the monitors all for one, Muscular, Stain and moon fish are shown. It’s not that obvious in the anime but Muscular is literally bolted to the wall with big metal restraints. It’s interesting to think about the different reasons they are imprisoned muscular and moon fish are here because of their strong powers & because they are psychopathic murderers, stain is here not because of his power but his ideology and all for one is there because of his power and his ideology. The weaponized drones this place has are crazy because in real life drones can cause a lot damage. The fact that the Nomu’s seem to be handling the drones with ease is terrifying but something to keep in mind is that the drones and other defenses are keeping the Nomu occupied which is impressive. I love the conversation between All for One & Shigaraki because of the voice acting, visuals and all the meaning it has. When there is a possession or multiple personality situation going on going from one side of the face to the other to represent the different personalities with either person talking is a classic which I love. Great detail when Shigaraki is talking they show his eye and when AFO is talking they don’t. I unfortunately don’t remember where I saw this comment or I would post it but from someone who understands Japanese when all for one refers to himself it’s in a formal way and when Shigaraki does it’s in a casual way and sometimes it’s weirdly combined when they both are in control. I think it says a lot about Shigaraki’s character, determination, strength and resolve that he is resisting all for one so much. It’s so messed up that AFO is like you asked for this so why are you complaining. The visual of Shigaraki being metaphorically & literally tied down by his master is so impactful and really shows what AFO wanted all along a new body to take over. Which makes it more twisted that all for one gave Shigaraki his own last name. Nice symbolism that all for one has darkness behind him trying to take over the light behind Tomura. It’s awesome that Shigaraki is still smiling in the face of this. I noticed that during this conversation there are no sound effects which is cool. All for one using decay is horrifying because of how much more experience he has using quirks. Him admitting that Tartarus is almost impossible to take down/break into even with exceedingly powerful people shows how well defended & secure it is. They even have safeguards In case of EMP’s. It sucks that they almost got the security system back up but because of the weird shared consciousness thing going on with all for one and his vestige. Maybe this place could have had more contingencies but I don’t think the guards can be blamed because no one could have guessed or thought of the shared consciousness thing. I hate the way he mockingly thinks to himself as he remembers All Might saying he would not escape. Once the breakout really begins it’s like a best hits of the villains and even if I hated some of them as people I think they are all great villains. I think it shows how much of a psychopath and why moon fish is 1 of the only people here we know who is on death row that he kills other inmates to also kill guards. The black haired man that is shown is Stain but on a 1st view I didn’t recognize him without his iconic outfit. It’s interesting that the purple haired woman seems to want to help the person who can’t open his cell door. I like that the 1st thing Overhaul thinks about is his father since he is the reason for everything he has done. The scene of all for one meeting himself is terrifying especially the split screen of half of each face. Also saying this is the story of how I become the demon lord is definitely a reflection of the VoiceOver of Izuku saying this is the story of how I become the greatest hero. All for one being able to casually mind control someone to help his escape is disturbing. And once again all for one is really smart by causing a lot of chaos by freeing a lot of prisoners making things more dangerous and giving the heroes even more than they can handle. I love the whole connection the snow slowly has been/is building between Shigaraki & Spinner and this scene between him and AFO is great because of it. I think it’s so great to see him worrying about his friend and speaking up against all for one it shows real bravery. And honestly he is the only one who would do this right now since Skeptic has his own agenda & Toya will go along with things as long as it aligns with his desires. Shigaraki’s eyes being white and glassy/blank really shows how much he is not there. Spinner’s horrified expression says it all I did not sign up for this. The most messed up part of this is that all for one actually believes what he’s saying because the dream to take over the world and take one for all is also Shigaraki’s dream so why should it matter if he’s trapped inside his own body. Although it is technically true that all for one cares about his emotions but only because it gives him more power. I love that when Bakugo 1st wakes up his immediate thoughts are what happened to everyone else and if they are okay it really shows his development. Other people compared the doctor talking to Aizawa & Mic to Yoshi from the Mario series LOL. Their conversation is really sad but very well written for how they would be selling after everything. The heroes really did everything they possibly could but you can’t blame the public for being angry & not able to understand everything they want through. The way Mic calls Midnight senpai is devastating since it shows that they were very close since their school days I can’t imagine the grief. I think Aizawa is saying they have to focus on what they can do which right now is making sure the students are doing okay. I feel so bad for the kids having to see all these protesters & hear about all the criminals on the loose and be unable to do anything about it. It’s probably the worst for Shoto with a lot of the hate directed towards Endeavor. I love how Momo is acting as a rock while she is going through stuff as well. I think it’s great to see Shoto realize his similarities to Toya from early in the show. It’s interesting to think that he could have easily gone down a dark path. And the change is thanks to his decision but also very much because of Izuku. I can’t imagine not being able to talk about or say anything about this thanks to his burns. I immediately realized the mom was shown entering the hospital & it got me so excited. It sucks that the public is asking Endeavor to speak when he is in surgery. Bakugo worrying so much about Izuku is heartwarming. It does make me sad that he probably would just be yelling at him because while he has had a lot of development but his relationship/friendship with Izuku still needs a lot of development and not being able to talk to him is why Bakugo is so angry. If he dies I will kill him is a classic line that works well for him and I love it. I can’t even imagine what all might must be thinking/going through unable to have helped while sitting next to the hospital bed. I felt bad for you having to worry about Izuku. Also right now when thinking about Izuku in a full body cast my mind came up with “here is the Izuku in its natural habitat” like a nature documentary and I could not help but laugh LOL. Awesome reaction & discussion. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

Hey!!! I'm so sorry I haven't gotten back to you sooner! I just wanted to let you know I see your comments and have been waiting for a chance when I can really read through them and reply! Sorry it's taking so long! Just wanted you to know I do see them and will be in touch soon :D

kamenriderhime

Hey, sorry it took me forever to write back! Omg of course, I love hearing what you guys think!!! It helps me understand and enjoy everything a lot more. I'm happy you enjoyed my discussion! Yikes, that's even darker than I thought about the government!!! There's so much coming to the surface, as it slowly has been over the whole series, when it comes to control over the heroes, discrimination against the looks/types of certain heroes, etc.! I don't think I really picked up on Muscular being bolted to the wall, good call! Yeah the voice acting was so on point here. That's so interesting about the nuances of their speech when they're both in control too!!! Yeah AFO has no concept of right or wrong at this point, but Shigaraki's will is pretty darn strong. Oh wow I never thought of that with giving him his last name but wow, that does drive it home even more!! Oh I know, AFO with decay is terrifying! I don't think anyone could have been really prepared for this, for sure. It was interesting to see everyone in the prison too, like Stain and that's crazy about Moon Fish! Yeah now that we're learning more about the purple haired woman, that makes sense! Oh yes, they did such a good job of slowly building the Spinner stuff, it pays off in this moment when he really realizes what's going on. It really shows how far gone AFO is that he just doesn't see the issue with taking Shigaraki's body by force, just because they share similar goals. I know, I love that Bakugo thinks of everyone else first! And omg I can see the Yoshi vibes with the doctor for sure haha. It's so sad to see how everyone is dealing with Midnight, including her closest friends! The heroes really did everything they could, there's no possible way they could have been prepared for this or known how bad it would be. I hate it too that the kids have to see all this, especially after all Shoto's been through like you said. Momo's working so hard to keep it together! And so true about Shoto, I'm glad he made changes in his life early on, thanks in a large part to Izuku's influence. Oh that's so cool you noticed the mom right away! I'm sure Bakugo would do a lot of yelling lol but it's his way, it does go to show how far they've come that he's so concerned. The line was perfect! Aww thanks, it was hard seeing Izuku that way! LOL!!!!!! Hahahhaha the documentary voice is so wrong but not inaccurate lol!!! Thank you so much for all your appreciation and support!!!!!!!!! ^_^

That episode was... In not even 2 minutes apart, we have Shoto at his worst, seeing his mom, and right after it's Bakugo injured as hell, worried sick about Midoriya...I'm gonna die of dehydratation. And the future looks great! We now have freed Overhaul, Muscular, Stain, and 2 All for One....Great indeed \(O_o)/ Loved your reaction, and I'll await your next ones :) See you soon

Hi Hime :) Yes, the guard who says that criminals are different from him, says it more in the racist sense. As we could see in the flashback where the league attacks a racist cult that is against mutants, this guard is also against it. Which shows once again that the heroic society still has a lot of problems within it. In the prison escapees, we see Muscular, Moonfish, Stain and Overhaul. Muscular is the one who killed Kota's parents and was beaten by Izuku wanting to protect Kota. Moonfish is the one who was also with Muscular during the attack on the training camp. Stain and Overhaul need no introduction. When Present Mic says "even Kayama", he is referring to Midnight's sacrifice, Kayama was Midnight's civil name and was their friend. We see it in the manga "Vigilante" which returns for a moment to the past of Aizawa, Mic and Shirakumo, Midnight was a year older but hung out with them, they were longtime friends... I said in the last episode that All Might keeping the peace made the heroes too complacent, but the same can be said of the civilians. As we can see, they put all the responsibility for the events on the backs of the heroes. So yes, we know that their own inactions by saying "a hero or a policeman will come to help", their judgment about the aspect or the negative points of a quirk, are all as responsible as the heroes themselves. They may not know it, but by relying entirely on the heroes, failing to take their destiny into their own hands, they have broken these same heroes. It is not for nothing that some had joined the league out of sympathy. Suffice to say that the future is far from bright for this world which needs reconstruction, but whose darkness has never been stronger. I said that this episode was not going to make you happy, I was thinking of this end when I said that. Deku in a coma with his body completely destroyed is a hell of a picture to finish.

These last two episodes have me so interested in where we go from here. Cause we’ve had two episodes of aftermath, and on top of that the purple lady from the intro was in Tartarus?! I know her name and I’ve seen a tiny bit of art but don’t know anything about her beyond that, so seeing her in there was a shock! Now I have even less of a clue about how she’s going to factor in. And now we got all these freaking powerhouses running amuck again, all while Deku’s seemingly been in a coma for a few days! The Bakugo stuff really got me “If he dies, I’ll kill him.” 😭 And then there’s the sad but expected backlash against Endeavor, at least he isn’t awake to hear it right now. Of course he needs to face it and move forward, but not when he’s just evaded death *again*.

kamenriderhime

OMG I know, what the heck! Yeah it's not looking good considering all the villains who are free, yikes! Thank you so much, hope you love my future reactions!!!

kamenriderhime

Yeah I'm not sure about her either! But we have some idea now like you said. OMG Bakugo's line was so on brand and perfect lol, but I'm wrecked at the thought of him in a coma. Yeah Endeavor will definitely have to answer for everything at some point, but right now he seems pretty out for the count, sheesh. Can't wait to see what happens next!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) That's kinda how it felt to me too, like almost discriminatory. Ohhh I didn't realize it was the same guard! Yeah, hero society has some problems for sure. OMG I totally forgot that Muscular killed Kota's parents!!! Ohhhhh that's what Present Mic meant, wow. Yeah All Might kinda made everyone complacent, not really a bad thing that he was so strong, but sort of a side effect I guess. But the inaction is certainly negative, and the whole concept of just leaving it to someone else is also. Yeah, I think things are gonna get darker before they get better, but I do believe they'll get better. UGGGHHHH yes you were totally right! I cannot believe they ended the ep that way!!!!!

I really love how they keep flipping quotes around, like AfO mocking All Might’s “I am here” during their fight, AfO thinking towards Shigaraki “Now it’s your turn” like All Might said to Deku, and now this episode. “I won’t give them a moment to rest. From now on, it will keep being MY turn” showing more how he’s dropped all illusions of actually caring about Shigaraki beyond using his body. Also, thank god Overhaul doesn’t have his arms, cause he would’ve been a huge problem during that break out. Just imagine if he’d combined himself with some of the prisoners like Muscular, that would be a nightmare.

Yeah that was a really great twist/irony! Also yeah, he's totally just using him. OMG I know, when I saw him my heart sank, at least he doesn't have his arms though. OOF, I don't wanna imagine that actually! Yikes!!!
