Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 1 episode 9 of The Bad Batch!!!  Wow, what a battle in this one!!!  Seeing Fennec vs. Cad Bane was pretty sweet, and WOW, that's some info we got on Omega!!!  So THAT'S what sets her apart in the eyes of the Kaminoans.  I have to say though, it does seem that Nala Se is acting more out of some sense of caring for her and wanting to protect her.  I'm so glad everyone's reunited, but something tells me we've got plenty of stuff ahead to tackle!!!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Haha love Ahsoka-bear, so cute! :) The guitar riff and the western vibes notes for Cad Bane are appropriate, as the inspiration for his character was from the Sergio Leone "Man with no name" trilogy that made a star of Clint Eastwood; but it wasn't Eastwood in those films that he was modelled from, it was Lee Van Cleef in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Here is a reference image for comparison : https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/aacAAOSwc0Zgnb9-/s-l1600.jpg As you can see the hat is pretty much the same, and though Bane doesn't wear the duster jacket here in Bad Batch, he wore one in Clone Wars, and later in Book Of Boba Fett. Very cool character, and the fastest gun draw in Star Wars - Cassian Andor, Han Solo, Hunter and Mando don't stand a chance against that. Fett took him down (but is he dead?), but it wasn't by outdrawing him. Speaking of Boba Fett, he is referenced by Tech here when speaking about Omega. As you now know, she is a pure clone from Jango with no manipulations and would represent the future for the Kaminoan clone army. And Fett is the only other pure unaltered clone, and so yes, Omega is a kind of sister to him, much more of a relation to him anyway, than the rest of the clones are. And yes, Jango wouldn't have known about Omega I don't think, as she wouldn't have been created when he was still alive, so the Kaminoans must've created Omega and kept her hidden a few years later as an insurance policy, especially when Boba ran off to do his own thing. Toto saying his treatment from Bane is perfectly adequate, he must have forgotten about the time Bane put a hidden bomb in him when they were stealing the holocron from the Jedi Temple! I kind of like that Omega doesn't have - so far - any real superheroic abilities. When I watched the pilot episode, I speculated she may be force-sensitive, as the reflection in her eyes when jumping into hyperspace, was a direct comparison to when we saw the same with Ezra when he was communicating with the Purgil and Loth-wolves. And so to me, this makes her something that must be protected at all costs, as she is just a normal kid. In saying that, Boba Fett clearly has a lot of the warrior traits of his father, and perhaps thats in Omega too (and she does do well here); and if she does get older, she'll be able to look after herself like Fennec Shand does here. It would have been cool to see a standoff with Fennec Shand (especially as Ming-Na Wen can do the fighting stuff well) and Bane in BoBF, but as he also has history with Boba, it made sense that the big showdown, would be between those two. And yes this came out in '21, with BoBF first up in '22. Eugh, some of those other abandoned cloning experiments show the more nefarious nature of the Kaminoans, and how they don't appreciate life for lifes sake, just use these creatures as ways to forward their cloning techniques. Having that horrid thing fall on you like what happens with Shand here though, would give you nightmares. Nala Se may have other priorities for Omega, or maybe she just developed a heart, as if you remember how she was with Fives and Tupp in the Order 66 conspiracy arc, she was cold as ice towards them. That last scene always brings the tears, I hate seeing Omega upset.

Regarding you holding any kind of plushie in a reaction, I will just point out: we all remember what happened the LAST time you did that… 😬 This episode kinda went from 0 to 100 really quickly: first it was just our guys, the Kaminoans and the Empire… now all of a sudden the different “interested parties” have grown exponentially. This whole thing just turned into a free for all. Todo (the droid) seems to be in kind of an abusive relationship with Cad Bane (now that I think about it, he hasn’t ever been given great treatment), yet he remains super loyal. I wonder if there’s some sort of commentary being made there? Yes, this came out before Boba Fett. Ironically I just got to the first appearance of Boba Fett in Clone Wars this week so timing, right? Maybe there is something specific to the DNA that is only achieved by not altering it? Either way, it’s hard to keep an intelligent lab rat in one place so the termination order is probably more for security. Nala Se (you’re getting her name right) was the Kaminoan who left the door open so Omega could escape initially. So she’s been undermining Lama Su (the prime minister) for a while now. I had a feeling when someone showed up it would be Fennec. It was too early for it to be the clones, and she’s the only other one with resources. Oh, speaking of resources: where do bounty hunters shop for all their different gear, because I kinda want to see that place now! 😂 Oh, and Crosshair is still looking for everyone. Let’s not forget about that. Hey, hey, WATCH THE HAT! FUNCTIONALITY REPORT: After trying this method, the video in the native player seems to work okay for AirPlay and such (I usually cast your videos from my phone), only drawback is there’s no way of downloading if you’re going to be away from an internet connection for a while. But for the most part it seems to work alright.

Yay!!! So glad you like the Ahsoka Bear!!! Isn't she adorable!!! :D Ohhhh I actually just got to watch the Man with No Name movies not too long ago, I can see the similarities for sure! Good point that he's the quickest draw in the galaxy - and while Boba defeated him, it wasn't because of the draw. I'm not sure if he's really dead, I thought so, but who knows! I'm glad I was sort of on the right track about Omega being Boba's sister, since he's the only other unaltered clone. Good point that Jango wasn't alive when she would have been created though. Oh I know, poor Toto!!! I remember that!!! Oh, it would be interesting if Omega was force sensitive! But I agree that it's interesting that she doesn't have any superpowers as we'd think of them. It does make her even more vulnerable and protectable!!! I'm sure she'll grow and learn how to defend herself as she gets older though, like you said. Right, as cool as a live action Cad Bane / Fennec Shand fight would be, I get that the focus had to be on him and Boba! Oh I know, that was pretty creepy to see the things the Kaminoans were doing, they definitely don't value life in the way we think of it! Ick, Fennec will sleep with one eye open after that! Yeah, that's what I remembered, is that Nala Se was no softie. Did she develop a soft spot for Omega? That's how it seems, but maybe it's something else like you said! Oh I know, I never ever wanna see her crying!!!!!!!! Someone comfort the baby ASAP!!!!!!! :O

kamenriderhime

Hahahahaha true, I don't have a great track record with the plushies :P Yeah as if we didn't have enough problems with the Empire, now we've got the Kaminoans to worry about too! Yeah it is an abusive relationship, poor Todo!!! I'm sure there's some high level commentary going on there. Oh wow, great timing!!! Hope you're enjoying Clone Wars! Hmm, interesting point about maybe the DNA has to be un-harvested to remain useful or something. Gotcha, I thought she left the door open! LOL I'd love to see the bounty hunter shop! :P Hahaha no one messes with the hat! Glad it worked well, I'll post some Google Drive links on them as well from now on. I think the downloading might be taking up some bandwidth, but hopefully it will balance out if all the streaming is going through Patreon! Thanks for the feedback!

One thing that I noticed that I feel I should bring up, is that Jango did have a Sister, like Omega, she had blonde hair. Jango's sister's appearance was based on Temura Morrison's sister which I think is pretty cool. I wonder if Omega gets the blonde hair from her side of the family lol

kamenriderhime

Oh wow! That's really interesting! And I love that she was based on the actor's sister. That would actually make a lot of sense that it runs in the family, since she's a pure / unaltered clone, there has to be some explanation for it!

I used to have the Dollars trilogy on VHS along with the original Star Wars trilogy of course, Rocky and another Lee van Cleef film, Escape From New York. Watched them all hundreds of times as a kid! When Bane is on the ground after Boba stabs him with the Tusken spear, he looks dead, but there are lights emitting on his armour, so perhaps he isn't. I hope he is though, as it would be a fitting end for him, to show how he was the top dog for decades, but that Boba is now the new king, as Jango was before him. Funnily enough was just watching your reaction to that episode with Toto and Bane in the Jedi Temple the other day as I'm rewatching Clone Wars again! Thats a great thing about these series, they are so rewatchable! As for Nala Se and Omega's relationship, perhaps there is some kind of relationship there, with Omega given that head-jewel that connects both of them, which must have been a gift from Nala Se; though Omega has since removed it.

Saltire

Thats a cool detail, never knew that. I wonder if they'll put Temura in drag if Omega makes it to live action! I think he'd be up for it, he's a pretty sound guy! :D

Hi Melissa, just letting you know this reaction is one that is missing a Google Drive download link (1/2.) :)

Cody

A really cool detail shown several times in this episode is that Bane has a big metal plate in his head. In an arc of Clone Wars that unfortunately never got animated, there was an old fashioned dual between Bane and Boba, wherein Bane gives Boba that dent in his helmet and Boba shoots Bane in the head at the same moment. So Bane having this plate in his head suggests that the dual did still happen even though those episodes were never fully animated.

kamenriderhime

Ohhhhh I'm not sure if that even stood out to me, that's actually amazing! I love that they included that from a story that didn't even get animated!

Cody

The only other time I can think of something like that happening is s3 when they bring back you know who. Someone must’ve figured “eh most of you have probably heard the stories from Dave of these episodes that never got finished or seen the animatics, so we’re just going to act like that still happened.”

kamenriderhime

OMG yes!! I know what you mean! Lol at this point I'm sure they're sure we know what they're getting at :P
