Hey everyone!  Here I am with Red vs. Blue, season 12, eps 17 - 19!  WOW!!!!  What a finale!  I'm so proud of our crew for all the twists and turns they planned, and most of all, for not just abandoning everyone on Chorus.  Dang, that was one intense back and forth battle!  I love that as soon as both sides of the armies get talking, things start to crumble quickly....only for the entire thing to be revealed by Tucker, Church, and Felix's monologue!!!  It won't be a smooth road to peace, but at least we're on the road!!!  And WHOA!!! That reveal of who Control is at the end, WOW!!!  That has like, some MAJOR implications, does it not?!  I loved the letter-style dialogue from Church at the end!!!!  Complete with a very mature and appropriate PS :P  Wow guys, what a season, and there's still more to look forward to with this arc too!  I'm really loving the ride!!!  Especially now that I can see what they're laying out a bit more!  Great eps!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Zen Reacts

Boy Chairman Hargrove mus REALLY be getting tired of Project Freelancer

Tyler Stobbe

I will just say from the start, you’re still threatening Rooster Teeth over your favorite characters? Have you learned nothing? 😂 So let’s try to unpack this, shall we? First, the choices that are given to the crew aren’t great… as Church said, they have a range. But Emily (Dr. Gray) gives them an out to go do their own thing… they don’t have to stay and fight. (Also they were just using Arryn to do the voice filter it has nothing to do with the doctor.) But it’s kind of like the concept of Huntsmen in RWBY here - they don’t have to do it, but they do anyway, because it’s their job and they want to do it. Caboose is the wild card in the whole situation, and now you’ve given him a loaded gun. Boy it’s a good thing Church can’t take physical damage anymore… I want to point out something you should notice… when Locus is fighting Washington his comments aren’t so much meant to agitate or goad (like his partner) as they are deliberately trying to understand him. Washington used to be just like Locus and follow his orders. To Locus, an order is ironclad, so they weren’t lying when they said if they took the ship they would be allowed to leave. Felix even said he really hoped they wouldn’t do it. He’s a bit more of a… loose cannon. “Good soldiers follow orders.” You’ve heard that somewhere before, right? Along with “It’s a trap!” Also when Kimball starts yelling to Doyle about a broken system run by a corrupt government… CLONE WARS ANYONE? The Force is strong with these references. 😂 Remember a few weeks ago when Grif said even the smallest details were important? Like Felix constantly making fools out of them on helmet cam training montage day? Well… congratulations, he just evil villain monologued his way into another mess. That’s twice his mouth has cost Control their plan. Speaking of Control… yep. That’s the Chairman, alright. The one who was on the letters. If you recall it was said he hired a portion of the UNSC Soldiers to act as his own private security force. When South infiltrated the Antarctic base in S9 and got found out because she didn’t follow orders, the soldier who found her was carrying coffee mugs with the Charon Industries logo on it. This whole time, the space pirates have been interested in space and alien weaponry, acquisition of technology and defunct Freelancer equipment. This means the whole bloody time the Chairman had that back and forth with the Director, Project Freelancer was taking stuff from a clandestine government corporation that was trying to fulfill its own agenda. And while Malcolm Hargrove (that’s his name) is doing all this, he’s putting on the holier-than-thou act and pretending to be the voice of reason and Justice. The Director did a lot of shady things, but this is on a whole different level of shadiness. So what better way to bring that full circle than to have Epsilon, who is the Director’s memories, fire off one last letter in response? Complete with a rather colorful post script. In the end, after all this time, Church really did get the last laugh and the last word in on the ongoing argument. 😎

Freaking owned boom! 👊🖐

Hahah you'd think I'd know better by now! Oh thanks for clearing that up about Arryn, I had a feeling it was just a coincidence. Right, they're just trying to do the right thing. Hahaha it's a good thing Church can't die again, because here comes Caboose with firepower :P That's interesting that Locus' intentions weren't to goad but to understand, and how he holds an order in such high regard. Especially compared to Felix, who's much more into twists/deception/manipulation. HAHAHA I came SO close to make a Star Wars reference but refrained!!! Whoa, who knew that would come back in such a big way! Felix really did monologue the mission right into failure. Ohhhh I didn't remember that that the Chairman hired some UNSC soldiers as his own security force. Wow!!! Gotcha, that's where I saw the mug!!! That's wild, that this whole time the Chairman was so high and mighty in the letters, he was running a secret group that did even shadier stuff and is now trying to get freelancer tech that was left behind. Sheesh! I mean, the Director was bad but this, this is a whole new level of bad! OMG, it occurred to me after that this was basically another Director/Chairman letter, kinda :P He really did get the last word/laugh, wow!!!!!!!!!

Chase Lazration

The only thing I can say about the Chairman's face is that it was modeled after his voice actor. Also, there is an after credits scene!!! I don't know why it wasn't in the video you watched, but you can search it up since it has its own standalone video on YouTube.

Pinkandahalf

It's slightly nonsensical, but Caboose's Lieutenant being named Andersmith is a reference to memory unit Caboose mourning the fictional soldier that Church invented in Season 9 to keep Tex around. His name was a portmanteau of Anderson and Smith. After Season 11 and the first half of Season 12, I was really losing interest in the Chorus storyline, but this finale did turn that around for me. Sure, the animated fight scenes are mostly Carolina and Wash falling over and getting back up, but everything else worked really well. The resolution was both set up and perfectly within character for both the heroes and the villains. It was the first time I really engaged with Chorus as a story, and I think it really sets up season 13 to be the star of the trilogy.

kamenriderhime

Oh wow, no kidding! And omg, I don't know why it wasn't in the one I watched!!! If anyone has the link to it, I'll try to go ahead and throw it onto next week's reaction!!!

kamenriderhime

Ohhhhh hahahahaha yes!!! I'd forgotten! Yeah they really tie it together here. I agree, it was a bit of a slower build than usual perhaps, but it starts to pay off here, and I can't wait for season 13!!!! So glad they got your attention back with this one!! Looking forward to next time!

Chase Lazration

You can find it at https://youtu.be/ZOpPEAXiS7M Upon some investigation, it looks like they included the scene on the Rooster Teeth website's version, but not on the YouTube version. (though, it seems like now it's only included on the "Red vs Blue Complete" version, where the whole season is uploaded in one video

kamenriderhime

Ohhhh okay! Thanks so much! I'll try to go ahead and throw this on before I watch the new season in my next reaction! :)

2023-06-16 11:15:41 I love this set of episodes so much. The offer Locus & Felix gives them is hard to believe but even if it was a lie Control probably expected them to accept because of the really bad spot they were in at this point. I didn’t trust Felix but Locus was what got me to believe it was genuine because of the type of person he is. Also from a business standpoint it does make sense that Malcolm Hargrove would not want to waste precious resources on the Reds and Blues is if he didn’t have to but I understand why you would think it was the enemy trying to tie up loose ends & if it wasn’t someone like Hargrove you might have been right. Of course Felix would want them to fight when he thinks they stand no chance he’s just sadistic that way. And once again Miles has such a great presence as Felix in all these episodes. Considering the situation and what they were up against it makes sense why the plans Church had were all pretty bad. I love that all the plans have good and bad sides & there was strategy involved. I think it shows the type of people they are that they were thinking of how best to help the planet or at least making sure they would have justice even with the shrinking pool of options. Also the names/categories of the plans were hilarious in a dark way. I love Dr. Grey’s speech here. I think it’s great that even though she would be sad for her people and planet she doesn’t try to guilt them into helping because she doesn’t want them to die when they were basically forced into this. And she has come to like them a lot so that’s another factor. And even though they try to pretend otherwise a lot the Reds & Blues are good people and we knew they weren’t going to turn their backs on the planet even if we didn’t know how they were going to get out of this when episode 17 came out. I really like the 4 main soldiers we get to know from the New Republic their conversations are fun. Love the Star Wars reference from the show LOL. Also this episode had a wonderful and I say that sarcastically cliffhanger. The penultimate episode is so good. Felix is very observant but I love that the group was using that against him as part of the plan. The action may be different but I love it because I think it’s a great thing that the animators didn’t try to poorly copy the way Monty did the action which could have happened and did their own thing while still making it dynamic and exciting. The conversation between Washington & Locus is so interesting. The way he tries to understand Washington really points towards there being more to Locus. I love the way Wash rights down his mentality/philosophy because of how obvious it is that Locus’s whole persona is a way to avoid responsibility for what he has done. And I like that it’s because of the mistakes Washington has made that he knows. And it seems like Washington is right since the only response Locus has is to start punching him. The 2 sides meeting was a good thing since the false narrative started to fall apart, You can also see the preconceived notions they have about each other with what Kimball & Doyle say to each other. Felix’s monologue is amazing it really shows his mindset/philosophy as well as how vile he really is. Like for Locus it’s a job and for Malcolm it’s to make money but Felix really enjoys and relishes in what he does which is so messed up. Miles voice acting really sells the sleazy nature of this character as well as his rage later on. I love the trick with the helmet camera that allowed the Red & Blues to turn the entire situation around and save the armies. It feels really good to see Felix in shock and completely lose it after everything he has done. Good thing Locust follows orders no matter what I guess? And it seems like there is finally a truce or at least cease fire. Also at lease this feels like a good cliffhanger right? I love the revelations the finale has as well as it being a calm down after everything & being a rise for our crew. I’m glad the 2 sides know the truth and are trying to find compromises. Also the Col. Sarge bit is amazingly funny. I always like the dynamic of Church and Carolina. I think it’s interesting to know the very small hints about what the chairman was all about that was then written to come together here and how it was a newspaper article of all things that was how it was discovered. I love the call back to the back and forth between the Chairman and the Director here with Church telling Malcolm just how badly he messed up and to go to hell. The more colorful language was a treat LOL. Malcolm is an extreme hypocrite with what he was doing while talking to the director the way he was but he’s a businessman so I guess we couldn’t expect better. Also his voice is still great. I love how awesome our group was at the end. The development of the characters is indeed great. Nice onion analogy there at the end of the reaction. Awesome reaction & thoughts. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

Such a great batch!! Yeah, I didn't trust Hargrove at all with the offer but Locus' standpoint does lend it some credibility! Miles is just killing it hear, and I agree that their assessment of the options is really telling of how they are as people. The names were great too lol! I know, getting to know all these new characters, I really like them and want them to be okay! It's sweet that Dr. Grey didn't want to overtly talk them into fighting too. LOL the Star Wars reference!! I agree about the animation for sure. And the conversation between Wash and Locus was great. Yeah we definitely get some depth from Locus here. And I love that we see that Wash is aware/regretful about his past mistakes. The two sides meeting was such a great idea!! I know, Felix's motivations are like the worst of anyone's!!! Miles does SUCH a great job selling the ickiness, it makes me wonder how on earth he's so wholesome in other roles like Jaune lol. He's a great actor! I know, watching Felix come unraveled was great! Hahah yeah Locus always follows orders I guess! :P It was a pretty epic cliffhanger! Colonel Sarge LOL!! I'm so glad the two sides have met and can start to break down these barriers now. Church and Carolina are so fun! The callback to the letters was SO epic! Including the, erm, more vernacular that Church uses as opposed to the Director :P I was so proud of our crew too!!! Thanks so much about the onion analogy lol, I'm glad you liked it! And I'm happy you enjoyed my reaction/review!!! Thank you so much for all the kindness and support!!! ^_^
