Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to episode 6 of the third season of The Mandalorian!!!!  WOW!!!!  You guys, they killed it with the cameos in this one!  I love the plot and I love what they did to expand not only the story of crew, but kind of tease the larger overarching plot in the galaxy too.  This may have even made a dent in Din's feelings about droids!  And last but not least, omg, Bo Katan with the darksaber!!!!  What a thing of beauty!!!!  Sound reasoning too, Mando really helped there!  They make a great team!  Oh yeah, and Grogu is Sir Grogu now!!!!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

I’m not sure if the first scene is supposed to be a tie-in for later or it was just meant to establish the other Mandalorian crew - but it does seem that Axe’s “mercenaries” will take any job for the right price and complete it. You know where I’m going with this, right? Moff Gideon is missing and there was beskar remnants on his prison shuttle. You can’t think this is a coincidence… Oh, something that keeps being broached this season is the subject of “rehabilitation,” particularly regarding former Imperial employees. It was brought up with the doctor and G68, earlier, and now it’s being brought up here again… So if they keep coming back to it that much, are the story writers going somewhere with this…? There’s like a rather unnerving social commentary in this episode when you think about it: the fact that despite how much trouble the droids are causing, the citizens want them to do everything so they don’t have to. Now compare that in real life to technology and how people would function if they couldn’t use it anymore. Maybe we’re all spending too much time relying on computers? Guilty! 😅 There’s a flip side to this which is ironic, and that’s the droids are worried their jobs are going to be replaced by humans. In real life it’s quite the opposite - but it’s a really interesting commentary on the mindset of how people think and what’s convenient for them. Hey, we saw a battle droid, but we can’t get a Roger, Roger? Well, anyway, I’ve wondered for a few weeks if there’s something going on between Din and Bo, but there’s definitely a little bit of hilarity to their “good cop, bad cop” routine in this episode. The problem is, neither one of them knows which role they’re playing at a given time. Hearing them squabble sounds like when two people are arguing over which way they need to go when driving. 😂 All it took for Grogu to get knighthood was to help a Royal with her version of the golf game… If you’d lived through the Clone Wars, the Empire, and saw all this, I couldn’t Blake you for being a little jaded about society in general, but reverting battle droids to their original state is going a little too far. Thank goodness he couldn’t escape in the Delorian, right? Bo’s definitely sick of all the infighting in her people, which might be why she was deemed the right person for this job - that whole combat sequence had kind of a wrestling match feel to it, didn’t it? But I think it could’ve been a death battle but she chose to subjugate instead. We’re finding a lot of loopholes to crawl through this week… political and dark saber wise. We still haven’t gotten any closer to figuring out just what the whole side story with G68 and Gideon is up to, but it feels like we’re about to find out. Oh, and finally… I have to do it… Bo-Karan now wields the Pick of Destiny. I have spoken. 👀 Only two episodes left!

I loved seeing Jack Black he’s my favorite! That’s my huge take away from this episode 😆

Ohhhhhh that is an awfully big coincidence about Bo's friends and Moff Gideon...!!! I have a feeling they are going somewhere with the rehabilitation thing! I know, that's quite the social commentary on reliance on technology!!! So true too, about the concern for job replacement being flipped. Hahaha yup, they take their golf seriously on this planet apparently! Oh yeah, it was way too far, but I do get some of the reasoning at least, like you said. LOL have you seen the memes online of Doc Brown, on a mock-poster for The Mandalorian, but it just says "The Delorean"?!?! I just about spit out my drink when I saw it! It did feel a bit like a wrestling match lol. The loopholes were interesting for sure. I feel like things are starting to come together. Hahaha!!!! I have spoken :P Wow only 2 eps!!!! I'm gonna miss this show, this season has been great!

Sorry I’m not sure this is the right place for this but I hope you don’t mind the comment here about info coming out of Star Wars celebration. So, Dave Filoni has confirmed there WILL be a second season of Tales if the Jedi. Hooray! 😎😎😁😁 And Kathleen Kennedy I think it was that said there were no current plans for a second season of Kenobi, although she did perhaps intimate it wasn’t ruled out but that for the moment everyone had their hands full with all the other Star Wars projects. Ewan McGregor is up for it! Oh, and without knowing any details at all, the next Mandalorian episode (this coming Wednesday) is apparently a very good one! It was shown at the Star Wars convention. Not too much of a spoiler I hope!

kamenriderhime

That's okay, thanks for letting me know - I just saw the news about it, YAYYYY!!!!! Hmm, interesting about Obi-Wan, it's good to know that Ewan is up for it at least! Hey did you know that Ewan and Hera's new actress are married?! Isn't that wild?! Ohhhh that's definitely not a spoiler but something to really look forward to!!! XD Can't wait!

Nick

I only found out about Ewan and Mary being married the same time as you! So, now that’s the two of them, as well as Ewan’s daughter Esther Rose (drug dealer in Kenobi) and Ewan’s uncle Denis Lawson (Wedge Antiles) all acting in some part of the Star Wars universe. That’s quite a family coup! 😀

Cody

The cameos this episode were awesome! My jaw dropped the second I heard Jack’s voice, I knew I recognized Lizzo but I wasn’t sure it was her till the credits, and I definitely recognized Christopher Lloyd’s voice but I’m not used to seeing him so it took a bit lol. I was so happy when the Battle Droids sounded like the ones from TCW, I wasn’t sure they’d do it in live action!

Nick

It looks like there will be plenty of Star Wars content to keep you pretty busy …

kamenriderhime

I know right!!!! What a fun surprise!!! Yeah the battle droids were right out of Clone Wars!!! I forget if they had the same voices in Phantom Menace or not? But these were for sure the ones we were used to from CW!!! So fun!

Cody

They didn’t sound like that in PM, in the prequels they sounded a lot more traditionally robotic and monotone. CW is what gave them a lot of personality.

I didn't find out until recently that Ewan had divorced his wife whom I knew was a French producer whom I think he met on Moulin Rouge; for this Mary who will be playing Hera. Pretty wild. Personally I would have loved Vanessa Marshall reprising the role, like she did in the game Star Wars Squadrons as she does have a lot of Hera's features, however she is a lot older than the character is supposed to be - but when has that ever stopped actors in Star Wars playing people outside their ages - Ian McDiarmid first played 86 year old Palpatine in Return Of The Jedi whilst in his 30's, Mark Hamill was playing 19 year old Luke in A New Hope when he was 27 (though he got away with that because he still had his boyish looks back then), and even here in Mando - and in this very episode - with Katee Sackhoff at 42 at time of filming, playing Bo-Katan who is at least in her mid-50's. Anyway we'll see how it goes, as a lot wanted Mary for the role, just like they wanted Rosario Dawson for Ahsoka and Lars Mikkelsen we'll be getting for Thrawn in the series. Despite Kenobi getting a mixed reaction, I think almost everyone would still welcome another chance to see Ewan reprise the role in another series, perhaps with Hayden also and perhaps Temuera Morrison playing Rex and Rosario doing Ahsoka, for another series set in the past, if it could be done. Lets see if something can be announced in the next two years when the next Celebration is running. Plenty of good stuff to come as well though, with films on the way back also as we are getting one with Rey rebuilding the Jedi Order a dozen years after the sequels - much to the annoyance of the men-children who want the sequels retconned and who are still bitter about it not being Luke doing that. And another film which will go right back to the Prime Jedi, the first ever Jedi and the establishment of the Order 25,000 years in the past, which is pretty bold and I hope the film is equally as bold in the choices it takes with the story. Then we have Dave Filoni finally getting backed to doing a big budget film, which will see a culmination of a lot of stories seen here in the tv series; though that might not be for another 6 years or so yet until these shows have had a chance to build things up more. Then we have Skeleton Crew, The Acolyte, Andor season 2, another Tales Of The Jedi as you mentioned Nick (please finish Ventress's story!!), Visions has been confirmed for season 3 as well next year and of course the final season of Bad Batch next year too; so plenty of great stuff to come :)

Yes Matthew Wood plays the battle droids in TCW. He is one of the chief sound designers in the films and animation, and is also a dab hand with voicework too. He played Grievous in the film and TCW as well. Talented fella.

kamenriderhime

Oh wow, no kidding! I would have loved to see Vanessa Marshall as well, her voice as Hera is just unmistakable! But I can see why it might not work, similar to the decision not to cast Ashley Eckstein as Ahsoka. That's a good point about Ian McDiarmid and even Mark Hamill though! Such a good point about Bo Katan too - I'd love to know her skincare regiment! :P Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn should be really interesting too. I'm sure they'll make it all work1 I couldn't agree more about appearances from Hatden and Temuera Morrison! OMG if Rex shows up, everyone cover their ears :P I can't wait for the new movies!! The bitterness is too bad, but I think much like the prequels, time will help with the sequels as well. The ancient Jedi film should be interesting! I can't wait to see Dave Filoni let loose with a big budget to spare lol. It's nice that we have shows in between. I think my younger self, who didn't get any new Star Wars content for so long, would be so proud lol! I really, REALLY hope Ventress shows up! We have lots to look forward to!!!!

Haha, such a silly episode! The fume online from this one is hilarious!! This to me is very much like one of the sillier, campy Clone Wars episodes, and I'm all for it. Lizzo and Jack Black are a cute couple, and seeing her cheat in her parlour games as Grogu uses the force to get food, is a hoot. Bo and Din play good cop/bad cop, and I was a bit shocked at Din kicking the B2, and thought of him doing that to C-3P0, however as good as Din is, he'd then have R2-D2 to deal with, and we all know who the victor of that encounter would be! :D The droid bar was fun too, and it reminded me of the droid spa from Clone Wars. These droids work hard, they need their downtime. When Bo takes Din to one side to reason with him, he sounds like an impertinent and stubborn child, and mum is telling him to calm down! This is almost like a skit from the lethal weapon series with Danny Glover being the reasonable one, and Din being like Mel Gibson as the loose cannon! :) The great Christopher Lloyd spouting about Dooku being a visionary who was 'cut down in his prime' at 83 is bonkers. I can see this part of the episode being a cult classic in a few years. And at the end Bo gets back the Darksabre, where it belongs. So all is well, for now.

kamenriderhime

It's so fun right! Omg why is there fume?! I thought it was good! I love them as a couple here, and Grogu using the Force to get food, it's just a good time! Hahaha oh man, I love Din but against R2, yeah, we all know that outcome! Oh I can definitely see how the bar was sort of like the spa (I love that episode lol). Hehe, the mum-ish chastising was fun! OMG, they're totally Lethal Weaponing here hahaha!! Love those movies as well btw! I mean, who ever thought we'd get to hear Christopher Lloyd in his 80s talking about Dooku in a Star Wars show?! Life is wonderful sometimes! I think this is definitely gonna be a favorite, despite whatever pushback there was for it initially. Love that Bo got the Darksabre!!! What an ep!

Saltire

I think a lot of it stemmed from being episode 6 in an 8 part season and many were thinking things were really going to take off this ep instead of Din and Bo doing a kind of side mission. Some also have issues with Lizzo and Jack Black; but hey you can't please everyone. I found it a lot of fun, and trust the creators to deliver, and if not then there will always be another episode and season soon. Everyone wants things now, instead of enjoying the ride. I return to some of these droid and youngling Clone Wars episodes occasionally, and episodes like Stealth Strike in Rebels, as they are charming and cheer us up. Not everything has to be Andor! Mando for me is good old school fun Star Wars; some need to lighten up imho. It was great seeing Christopher Lloyd too though; he's always been an actor I've enjoyed watching, all the way back to his Taxi days in the late 70's, with Danny Devito and co; let alone legendary films like Back To The Future and The Addams Family. I liked that they brought up too that he was an old Separatist still carrying a grudge after all these years. I can see this one becoming a fave of mine over the coming years, that I'll also return to.

kamenriderhime

Oh ok, gotcha. I thought they were fun too! The whole ep felt very Clone Wars-ish! That's a good point about having some patience! I couldn't agree more!!! While I love content like Andor, it wouldn't be special if everything was like that. Sometimes it's nice to have a good classic adventure! It's great that you've been following Christopher Lloyd's career, he has quite a resume for sure! I agree, it's a fun one to have as a fave!!!
