Hey everyone!  Here I am with Red vs. Blue, season 13, eps 11 - 14!  Wow guys, lots going on here with the slow-mo moment finally happening (because life finds a way), Carolina having some issues that turn out to be linked to her recent trip to the gateway, and Locus having some similar issues and questioning things a bit further. I think we really, really need to unite the two groups on Chorus fast....which is easier said than done, I know!  But fortunately, we have Doc to help us!  Oh yeah, and Felix and the counselor seem to be at a bit of a standoff when it comes to the info they both have on one another...!!!!  Can't wait to see what happens next!  Great eps!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

I really like that they explained how Maine actually died. He did fall off a cliff into a lake, but he was wearing powered armor that can survive falls from orbit, and the helmet he had is specifically designed for the vacuum of space. And since Tucker stabbed him all the way through and back out again with his energy sword, this incredible suit of armor was no longer airtight, and Maine drowned. I had never once thought of this particular plot hole til they brought it up here, but it all slots right into place.

AAAAHAHHHHAA! IT’S OVER!!! My speech is over! I got an A! I I was stuttering and shaking when I started but it went away when I got into it. I went a bit fast but I did take pauses and emphasized, I made a lot of eye contact (my professor took notice of that!), I followed a formula we were given to a T! The audience participated when I asked to close their eyes (that’s a part in my speech I hoped they would participate in)- it just went smoothly. Overall an A. I’m so happy I’m still shaken. Everyone was nervous but I’m that person that shakes uncontrollably idk why but I just kept practicing and practicing I’m just so happy right now!!! Thank you so much!!! I’m celebrating by binging the reacts tonight rn I’m just so relieved and tired from being nervous woahhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Something that I noticed about Carolina that I absolutely *love* is that throughout the entire show, she has never said "The Meta" once. She always refers to him as Maine.

I’m going to drop by this reaction first because you know, the other one usually ends up with me writing a thesis and I’m trying to catch a movie tonight. XD Anyway, note that this entire time everyone was trying to find Doyle, Carolina wasn’t. Sharkface was using the counselor’s information to completely distract her from the actual mission. Regarding what’s going on with Church, the best way to describe what he’s telling Carolina is that he’s an older model. Think of it like… if you were trying to record your reactions and implement all the different functions on a computer that was state of the art twenty years ago. Technology can only push you so far. Speaking of technology, isn’t it interesting that the AIs were forcing the Meta into the desire to become the one thing computers can’t calculate: humanity. Now I know we’ve had shows on this channel where that’s not the case but in real life, it’s yet to be actually replicated. We’re complicated creatures, particularly with emotions. Carolina is afraid that she’ll have to lose another group of people, and I think what is happening is she’s putting on a “tough girl” act, but underneath it, she’s genuinely concerned for her friends. It’s fun watching Washington toy with Locus a little, because of the two, Wash is the one who’s become comfortable with who he is while Locus is trying to make sense of everything around him. Dr. Grey is having a field day, and don’t run in the hallway, it only makes her want to catch you more. Meanwhile Doc’s counseling session actually got Doyle and Kimball on the same page just in time for the pirates to attack…? That speaking ball is pretty large should we use that as a weapon? And also… what do you think Felix is really afraid of? Everybody has something they’re not sharing… 🤭 Boy, the RT shows are both really focusing on identity crisis right now, aren’t they? 👀

kamenriderhime

YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!! Way to go!!!!!!!!! You did it! It sounds like you did great! Awesome about the audience participation too! It's such a nerve wracking experience but you got through you and covered everything you needed to! YAY!!! Hope you enjoyed binging reactions lol!!!! I'm so honored that's how you're treating yourself after a big accomplishment!!!!!!! Great job!!!!! XD

kamenriderhime

Right, I was trying to remember if they had actually ever covered that in detail. So that was the precise cause of death. It's cool that they covered that and filled in the plot hole!

kamenriderhime

Lol best to get this one out of the way first! Ohhhh good call, Carolina was being distracted. Oof, I did try to do reactions on a computer that couldn't handle it when I first started, so I get that lol. That's such a good point, all that time they were trying to replicate humanity. It's true that lots of my shows have different takes on this, but it's interesting to think about! I get it, Carolina doesn't want to lose her new family and friends group. Wash was awesome!!!! It was really fun seeing him have the upper hand over Locus a bit. LOL Dr. Grey likes the ones who play hard to get :P Hahaha it would not surprise me if we used the speaking ball as a weapon, ironic as that is :P And yeah, it actually worked! Oof, I can't imagine what Felix could be afraid of!!!! I'm curious. OMG seriously, we're encountering some common themes here!!!

Manny

Thank you I’m still binging. I’m still so happy 😁

Pinkandahalf

I get it, public speaking can be tough. Hang in there, it gets easier. I had to give an impromptu speech about what my job is to the Board tonight because my boss wants them to get to know her core employees. Luckily none of them had any questions about what I said and I was out of there and back to work in ten minutes. Point is, I never really worked up any nervousness about it and that never would have happened when I was in school.

2023-04-20 10:30:47 Aw I don’t disagree with Doyle. I’d have done the same. War is what Kimball said it is “sacrificing for the greater good,” but I’m not made for war. And those two weren’t but stuck around. It’s like with Tucker, it seems like every move you make sucks but you have to keep trying. I’m glad some communication was displayed.

I know right!! I'm not either....and neither were a lot of these individuals who ended up rising in the ranks by accident too, I'll bet! Just like you said! So true about what Tucker said!! I know, at least we're kinda getting somewhere??? Communication is always good!

kamenriderhime

Aww that's such a great inspiration! Wow, that sounds nerve racking but it's cool that you've gotten to the point that it doesn't bother you as much!!! Way to go :D

2023-07-11 10:24:09 This is such a great batch of episodes. I love how episode 10 starts off with showing that Carolina still has her skills and gives us a taste of how resilient/tough Sharkface is. I love Wash reading/playing Locus with his plan to actually get a hit on him as a last distraction. Nice to see Simmons smokescreen plan work. I love the payoff for the slow motion joke it’s hilarious I guess life finds a way to be awesome LOL. It’s really interesting and cool in an insane way that after all these surgeries some of which he probably had done with the sole purpose of making himself tougher has made Sharkface into a juggernaut of sorts. I think this fight on top of the ice is good especially showing how great Carolina still is but also how much stronger Sharkface is even at a disadvantage against Carolina with her skills because of how much determination his vengeance has given him to force himself to be strong enough to kill her. However once the fight enters the ice caverns I love it. It has to be some sort of irony that he used a grappling hook to drag her down when it was a signature of Carolina’s. I think it’s great that so frenetic & chaotic it is once they get into the caves makes things more dynamic. We see that this is a tough enough enemy that she needs as many enhancements as possible. Using grenades and his flamethrower to launch himself is a crazy awesome move from Sharkface. Unfortunately Carolina using so many enhancements and pushing herself to win is too much for Church to handle all at once & they lose/fall. The next episode is great for showing the aftermath of what just happened. Doyle was smart to try to make it so the mercenaries couldn’t get the sword. Felix was able to get in his head but Doyle almost succeeded. It’s become personal for Felix you can hear the barely restrained rage in his voice which is more great acting. The rules of the sword really saved them here Doyle got very lucky. Kimball’s anger is understandable because of the position it has put them in but it’s not fair to Doyle because it was a decision that had to be made quickly with little in the way of options. In her anger you can understand Kimball’s resolve/determination to do whatever it takes to help her people even if it might kill her. Basically if the armies don’t get it together soon they are doomed. I love that you call the crazy stuff Sarge says Sarge-isms LOL. Difference in outlooks and opinions are something that easily causes conflict which is what’s going on with Doyle & Kimball. Also I almost forgot to mention it but Dr. Grey just calmly observing and asking about Doc as he beats up Tucker is hilarious. Episode 13 is really great for diving into Carolina & the things it talks about. Dr. Grey psychoanalyzing Doc while still being her crazy and excited self is amazing. It’s interesting to see how the Reds and Blues try to bridge the divide between the armies and unsurprisingly they are not very good at it. I guess they need some sort of terrible in between color maybe a Tyrian (it’s a shade of purple LOL). I’m glad Church and Carolina decided to talk. Church often uses humor to deflect from his issues/emotions which is a defense mechanism many people have. I think the writing was great to go into Carolina’s dangerous competitiveness but the drive that could push her down a bad path is for a much different reason. And now we finally learn what she saw in the gateway. A traumatizing experience of having to see her original family of the freelancers die again and then having to see our crew dying. I love the belief and confidence Church has in her. And she has the skills to back it up but the experience comes just shaken her really badly. I love Doyle noticing how scared she is as well as bringing up how bravery & fear are connected. It’s interesting to see someone without a lot of courage talking about this. It’s really enjoyable to see how annoyed and enraged Felix is but also scary it is with the violence you can just sense under the surface. And then the episode ends with a great cliffhanger of Locus having a very interesting thing to ask the Counselor. I love the last episode of this set. It’s sad that all Doc wanted was to be included but at least it’s happening now with his idea of counseling sessions. Also it’s crazy how O’Malley completely destroys Grif during the role-play. The conversation Locus has with the Counselor is fantastically written I love it so much. I think it’s interesting to hear the Counselor talk about Maine/Meta with the perspective as 1 of the higher ups of project freelancer. I think it’s great that the Counselor recognizes that teamwork and trust are what gave the Reds & Blues the chance to kill the Meta. It’s crazy to think that after everything Maine survived drowning is what killed him. Although I guess you could say something like he was drowning in his search for power. I love the description of Maine as a strong, silent brute who nevertheless cared about his teammates and always did what he thought was right. I love that this is another thing that makes Locus question his view of what a soldier and what he is. The slave line is particularly hard hitting. The distinction between wanting to become a perfect weapon versus becoming human when it comes to the Meta is really interesting. The Counselor gives us some intrigue when he starts to look into Locus’s head with his own questions especially about what Felix is scared of. And it looks like Felix really didn’t like the counselor doing that when it could negatively affect himself. Using Sharkface with his relationship with project freelancer as a threat was very smart & the sinister voice acting really sells it. And then we get deep into why Kimball dislikes and is so antagonistic towards Doyle coming down to his incompetence & lack of courage. I love how it turns around from Doyle’s anger about what she’s like to genuinely talking about how amazing her bravery and conviction is. Unfortunately because of her anger and how long this has been going on she continues to clash with him which he doesn’t want & needs to stop. And worse it looks like they are out of time when the mercenaries decide to go for an assault just dropping into the city not needing to worry about blowing up the reactor this way which is another great cliffhanger. Also yes all the talk about Maine is said but they are also really interesting and cool callbacks. Awesome reaction & thoughts. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

Yes, this was a great batch for sure! Carolina and Sharkface, Wash and Locus, Simmons' plan working, etc. And the slow motion payoff haha!! I agree about the fight between Carolina and Sharkface, Carolina is definitely more skilled but Sharkface has the brute strength and enhancements going for him. The grappling hook was a nice touch too. Carolina pushing the limits really shows what a strong contender he was during that fight. And Doyle did pretty great, even if Felix did get in his head! I know, Miles does some great voice acting here! And I agree, the two armies being at odds like this just wouldn't work. LOL I'm glad you like "Sarge-isms" hahaha!! Dr. Grey's reactions to Doc are so fun to watch!!! Hahahhahaha wow I never realized Tyrian was a shade of purple but that just works on so many levels!! I agree, it's nice to see Church and Carolina getting things out in the open, especially considering how they can each be when it comes to communicating. I know, it's crazy to have the reveal of what she saw in the gateway! Also a good and perceptive note from Doyle on the fear but also bravery. The cliffhanger!!!! And poor Doc, at least now he's being somewhat included! Grif getting destroyed in the roleplay was really something! The conversation with Locus and the Counselor is so good as well, and it is crazy to think that drowning is what ultimately killed Maine, after everything. That's actually a great metaphor with the drowning though, wow! Yeah it's interesting to see the intrigue about what Felix is afraid of deepen in that conversation. Getting deep into Kimball's feelings was interesting too. It is a shame considering they really really don't have time to be at odds right now! I'm so happy you enjoyed my reaction and discussion!!! Thanks for being so awesome, kind and supportive as always!!!!! ^_^
