2023-05-02 15:44:22 Oh girl you had me crying when you broke when it came to church. And I’m so happy you got to see the whole locust thing. I was like how you where with Felix but for locust. I always liked him. I thought he was just doing this because its a job and he’s being told to. And so when he was done with it I was so happy to see that. And let’s give a quick moment of silence for the fallen Felix….well okay that’s done 😂 Felix to me is the worst of everyone. To act like you are a bad guy and be so awful he just gets under my skin. And I know others would say the same for locust but to me locust is better than Felix. He just irritates me haha. I can’t wait for you to start the next season. I’m excited for you to move on with it.

Zen Reacts

Imagine having the balls the cut the finale there

Zach Feifel

Epsilon died the way Alpha lived, calling himself "A hero". But in all seriousness, one of the most underrated things about Miles' writing in the Chorus Trilogy was how Felix's character actually worked in the show. Over the first 10 Seasons of RvB, we had 3 main villains. BGC we had O'Malley, a funny, over the top style villain which was great for the plot. In the Recollection trilogy, we had the Meta. A juggernaut in the strength category. And finally, the Director, the brilliant manipulator of everything that came before. Now Felix is nowhere near as manipulative as the Director, nowhere near as physically intimidating as the meta, and is not nearly as funny as O'Malley. But Felix does have all three of traits rolled into one, which is such better writing than having him be the best at something else.

I've always been a little torn on the ending of Season 13. On the one hand, they have this beautiful speech about self sacrifice and faith, and a version of Leonard Church willingly and knowingly sacrifices himself in battle to save his friends, just like the original wished he had been able to. On the other hand, I sure would have liked to see that fight. Tucker actually looks pretty cool wearing the Exo helmet, as odd as it is to see anyone but Maine wearing it. I feel like Locus was originally conceived to be the ultimate villain of this trilogy, but I like where he ended up much better. There is genuinely something wrong with him, and it's not completely his fault that he's been as brutal as he is. I think he has one of the best character arcs in the series, because Wash spends the entire time they're on Chorus breaking down Locus's sense of morality, but it's Locus who actually chooses to change. Nobody forces him, he has a genuine, come to Jesus moment where he says, "I was wrong. And I will change." Plus, that exit line was a killer. He's right, they're not going to be able to keep up with him well enough to hunt him down when he's unconstrained by Felix's ego and his own rigid interpretations of a politician's orders. I always enjoy the subtle call backs, and in this one it's all about O'Malley. He's got his signature rocket launcher back, and they take the time to remind us that he's already an expert at driving the alien Ghost, having owned the one he found in Blood Gulch for quite a while. I know quite a few fans wish this was the series finale, and it's not like you can tell them their emotional reaction is wrong. My theory is that RWBYs success brought a whole new audience to RvB, and to many of those fans Chorus is the default, and thus the later shifts Rvb takes are less good. I empathize with that, I felt similarly about Chorus for several of the years it was coming out. I've always viewed this finale as a solid bronze medal in the series, behind 8 and 10. But I think they're overlooking just how much fun season 14 is. Beyond making you laugh, season 14 made me genuinely smile a few times, and that's always been a rare thing, so I value that.

“So help me, everyone’s making it out of this all right.” You’re talking to Rooster Teeth, how well’s that gone so far? I’m getting ahead… first, Tucker unlocked all the alien weaponry at the end of the last batch so Kimball’s “rag-tag” forces suddenly were super powered. The 2v2 fight scene was pretty clever, especially with all the zero gravity and floating platform stuff - but as Felix commented at one point, “this is getting ridiculous.” 😂 The space pirates got so arrogant they couldn’t think ahead, they were so sure they’d take Armonia they had no fallback plan, which left the tractor beam wide open. I guess Price’s little jaunt to get away from everything got thwarted too. The whole “we dropped a spaceship on them, it (death) was implied!” is a play on the whole “no body no death” rule in anime (Miles is a big fan of the genre himself.) It’s kind of fun watching Felix just lose it, but think about what Santa said and then think about how Locus was treated by Felix throughout the e trilogy. He was being just as manipulated as everyone else. By the way, Caboose’s gun safety came back and, Tucker throwing the grenade at him to knock him off the platform? It’s a direct reference to when he revealed himself in Season 12 and asked Tucker to toss the grenade to him. Be careful what you wish for. Are you comparing Locus to someone with a parasol, by any chance? (Considering who the VA for Locus is… hmmm!) Hargrove seems a bit short-sighted, he put all the weapons that could be used against him on the same ship as him and then he deactivated an AI that hates him. Seems like for all his planning, he didn’t really think this through. On the bright side, Chorus is saved, so that’s a win, right? Was Doc saying “Fly, you fools” a reference to Gandalf? And now, the big thing - Epsilon aka Church. If you recall, Hargrove said that none of the original AI were equipped to run this armor. The only reason Church was able to make it work was because he deconstructed his memories into fragments, like his memories of the other AI, allowing it to function for a very short period of time. As far as what this means, he’s deleted. He’s really gone this time. This is his last appearance in the canon timeline chronologically. Take special note of how I worded the previous sentence. No, this isn’t a “tell her one thing for a reveal later aka another RT character.” If you put everything together from beginning to end, this is the last time you’ll ever see him. And he didn’t tell the others what he was about to do, because… he also hates goodbyes. But just peace out would be a “dick move.” Also when you’re talking about characters this would affect the most, you forgot his “best friend.” You shouldn’t feel too bad, though, he wasn’t going to last too much longer because of rampancy. It was previously stated that a regular AI has a shelf life of about seven years, and his time was very nearly up anyway. Even if he didn’t do this, he’d soon cease to function. I do think about his last speech often, because of how poignant it is. There are two characters in the other RT show that immediately came to mind that you can definitely apply this to. I don’t think I need to tell you which two. But it works for them as well. That puts a cap on one of RT’s best years for their original content. This ending was obviously a harder one for RvB fans because of how it ended, but a lot of them took solace in knowing that they had RWBY to look forward to a couple months later and hoped that would make them feel better. However, this is also the year Volume 3 aired. 👀 😬 So yeah… you know. I’ll comment more on what S14 is next week, this one deserves the space to let it breathe by itself, but it was a pretty good vehicle for Miles to show off his writing and acting chops. A lot of people hate his stuff, and I just don’t understand why, I think he’s pretty good at what he does, and his work speaks for itself. The whole trilogy was quite a ride, but now it’s time to say goodbye and move on to the next part of the story.

No! I’m freaking crying right now I can’t believe it! Say it isn’t so!!! Church! This was actually meant to be a finale!?! I couldn’t take that. I’m thinking about how this all started. With the guys we met in the box canyon in volume 1. Imagine starting over and seeing this, knowing what’s going to happen and how things change. My heart wouldn’t be able to take this. I see how it could fit as a season finale. It would leave the imagination open. Did our guys make it out? All out? Did we not see another day? Same time all those things would be keeping me up at night and sad as he🏒🏒. Nooo! Church 😭 I’m really sad right now. Just now my eyes and nose are running while my hands are shaking typing this. This would leave questions like “how’s Caboose going to take this?” If they manage to make it out because of Church’s sacrifice. I’m just so devastated right now. I don’t care if it’s immature I’m not going to school tomorrow I’m so upset. Darn it I hate this. Why did everyone recommend this show again?! To play with my heart? Cause you all have succeeded 😭

kamenriderhime

Awww I'm glad you were moved :'D It was great to see how Locus' arc went! Hahahaha yeah Felix deserves maybe .25 seconds of silence :P He really was the worst! It's not that Locus has been a "good" guy, but next to Felix he's way more likable lol. I'm so excited to see more!!! Thanks for watching with me :D

kamenriderhime

Awww so true :'D I couldn't agree more about Felix! He stands out for sure and I've never even thought about that, that he's a combo of those traits!

kamenriderhime

OMG I know!!!! Seriously, they didn't just leave us on a cliffhanger....it was like being dropped off the cliff!!! Lol I know what you mean, I'm sure it hits differently on a second viewing! Awwwww I know how you feel!!!! I'm gonna miss him! I know, Caboose is gonna be crushed! At least he's had some time to grow and make other friends, but still. OMG I don't blame you!!! This was highly upsetting! Hahaha I wonder that about shows sometimes too!!! Why do we keep voluntarily getting our hearts destroyed this way lol?!?!!? D':

2023-05-03 23:18:21 Yes exactly he was way more likable. And he never really hid who he was. Like he didn’t do what Felix did and act like he was nice and do anything for you and then turn out to be a huge scum bag. With locus you Atleast knew who he was the kind of person or the motive for why he did what he did. And in the end you saw that. You could see some kind of human in him you could relate to. Him you can understand where he’s coming from. Felix was just awful and he didn’t care. And the way he went out was chefs kiss. Had me laughing so hard.

Right!! That's so true, at least you knew what you were getting with Locus! So true that he had more relatable humanity as well. Felix was the worst and his ending was so fitting haha!!!!

kamenriderhime

I know, I hear you!!! I would have loved to have seen the fight too! But I respect what they were trying to do as well. I agree about Locus, I think the actual direction was much more interesting. His exit was pretty awesome! Yes, the rocket launcher! That's interesting that for many fans, Chorus was the jumping on point and sort of the standard. Wow, it sounds like there's still a lot to look forward to, too!!! Can't wait!

kamenriderhime

Haha I should know better by now right! Lol it was pretty ridiculous but in the best way! LOL I can totally tell that Miles was going by anime rules here! Ohhhh that's a great point about the grenade reference! OHHHH I keep forgetting who Locus' VA is, I suppose that is rather fitting! Hargrove was probably so overconfident that he didn't completely think it through, for sure. Hahahah it was most likely a Gandalf reference, amazing! Ohhh that is a good point about what was mentioned earlier with the AI and the suit. It's gonna crush Caboose for sure! At least he's branched out and made some more friends though. At this point, I feel like he and Carolina were the tightest. Chronologically hmmm...I might see where you're going with that! Oh that's interesting, I don't think I'd fully realized that about the lifespan of an AI. OMG, I can't believe that after this, RT fans had RWBY Vol. 3 :O Suffice it to say that RT fans were NOT okay that year! Miles definitely showed off his skills here, wow!!! I can't wait for Season 14!! Time to say goodbye :/ to this part anyway!!!

I love how the names of episodes 18 and 19 "The Great Destroyers" and "The End is Near" are a reference to Gary's line(s) at the end of Season 3 "The Great Destroyer has arrived. The end is near." (He said it repeatedly)

2023-07-14 15:18:11 I think the last 3 selves episodes are some of the best and some of my favorite episodes of season 13 and my 2nd favorite ending of an arc in this show after season 10. Of course the purge temple would be located in the most evil looking place on the planet. It’s awesome seeing Washington & Carolina there ready to stop Felix and Locus. He probably didn’t think Felix would care but I like that Wash tried to appeal to Locus about doing this horrific act. And you can see some manipulation from Felix talking to Locus about orders being orders with a hand on his shoulder. Also the way Felix says partner makes my skin crawl. It’s such an incredible moment seeing the Army of Chorus showing up with advanced alien weapons/tech and absolutely demolishing the mercenaries. You love to see Caboose using a tank for good LOL. I genuinely love the scene of the Counselor taking control of the Tartarus & saying fuck it I’m saving myself. Showing that he can be ruthless with his pragmatism and he’s done following others. I love the strategy at play during the battle between Washington/Carolina & Locus/Felix while the fight is also very chaotic/fast-paced. The gunplay is great especially the move Wash does throwing a grenade because he knows Locus will immediately go after it being such a good shot just to give himself the chance to get a hit on Locus. Launching Locus up to the floating platform to try to get in the back of the temple was a smart plan. I love how the teams get separated and then come back together it’s dynamic. And I adore the hand-to-hand combat between Carolina & Locus especially as they also use their weapons in really cool ways like they are in RWBY. And yes Carolina still has the advantage over Locus but I think the animation does a great job showing how their skill level is much closer together. Both Wash and Felix being held up by Carolina is ridiculous and scary. I like the use of how they can magnetize to surfaces. The back and forth in this fight is incredible. Also it’s interesting how as the fight goes on they started to become more evenly matched thanks to the amazing teamwork on both sides as well as exhaustion. The way Washington finds a way around Locus’s camouflage is so clever. I like that they end up right back where the battle started. I love Wash’s mocking tone when he asks if Felix is tired. The reveal of their actual plan to use the tractor beam to use the Tartarus to completely destroy the purge temple. I love how the mercenaries were completely out played. Also the Counselor gets to say the iconic son of a bitch line which fits with him being close to Church and the Director. You’re right Felix really is a cockroach LMAO. I love episode 19 for many reasons. You have to love Doc living his best life with an alien vehicle. I like that even with all the advantages the armies have gotten recently the mercenaries are still dangerous with their own resources in this case a Mantis. Felix just does not give up no matter how exhausted or injured he may be. Felix doesn’t feel the need to make sure Locus is okay because he just expects Locus to follow him into any fight. Even Locus doesn’t see a point in continuing to fight when it’s clear they are going to lose. However it’s become personal for Felix because he can’t stand that these people who he sees as losers have been able to best him time & again. “I'm doing this for myself” as if everything you do isn’t for yourself Felix. I love this moment of realization for Locus with Santa’s help. It’s great writing for Santa to ask all these questions that help him realize how much he doesn’t understand about himself and doesn’t know. The reveal of what Felix is afraid of is so good because it makes perfect sense with everything we have learned about him/seen in this trilogy. It’s so fucked up that Felix was keeping him psychologically unwell and unable to deal with his trauma because of how much Felix relies on him. But now Locus has all this information and is alone with enough time to think about what all this means for himself. I love Wash’s faith in the guys it’s actually sweet. It’s awesome to see the Reds & Blues working together and winning against Felix who is all alone. Even Freckles gets in on the action which is as cool as it is hilarious. After all the character development he has gone through it’s amazing to see Locus choose to do something for himself as he betrays Felix. I love that once this happens Felix tries his whole manipulative, charming shtick but you can see how desperate and pathetic he is in this moment just from his voice and small movements which says a lot about him as a person. I think it makes sense that he would go down fighting but it’s also fitting that at the end he would try to bargain/beg for his life. A man like this is only deserving of a pathetic/anti-climactic death like this. I think it’s interesting that Locus wants to make up for all the bad he has done as a free man most likely trying to do as much good as he can. What a character. Church’s message summarized everything in the best way to expose Malcolm Hargrove and I love the moment of Malcolm seeing every news station and media outlet reporting on what he has done. Unfortunately with nothing left to lose Malcolm is more than willing to take everything down with him. What you thought Felix might be afraid of is interesting & would still have worked somewhat. I love that once they get on Hargrove’s ship Filliss immediately wants to help them because she hates him just as much as we do. Church starts to get angrier because the Chairman has Tex’s helmet like some sort of trophy. I love the scene of them all determined not to die & getting ready to fight through all of Malcolm’s soldiers it’s so badass especially the line up of them with Tucker in the blue Meta suit it’s iconic. Some people theorized that Church might die but even those that thought that never expected it to be like this. This final monologue is heartbreaking and tragic. I love the part about how he became his own person thanks to his friends. The belief he has in them shows his caring & love he has for his friends and comrades. It sucks that he has to completely destroy himself to help them survive. Also there is something sad about him leaving multiple personalized messages to everyone. I'm pretty sure Miles wrote this whole monologue and this was such a smart way to deconstruct the heroic sacrifice and make it sad & melancholic. The faith line connects to the belief everyone has in the guys as well as Doyle believing in those he left behind. Ending it right there works perfectly with the deconstruction of the hero not knowing what happens. Also of course a slow instrumental version of the sad Contact song. The memories idea is like the philosophical ship of Theseus idea. What a perfect goodbye. I think Church is still the best character in the show even now. I felt your sigh when you took your headphones off in my soul. Sorry this got you really sad it’s a pretty devastating development. I loved hearing your thoughts they were very poignant. Awesome reaction & keep up the great work. :-) <3

These eps are great! I do love that Wash tries to appeal to Locus. Ick, Felix saying partner was gross for sure!! And the army showing up! How can you not love Caboose in a tank! Yeah the Counselor was looking out for himself alright. The battle was awesome, I agree about it being really well done and good note about how cleverly they use weapons like in RWBY. It's definitely close between Carolina and Locus and they do a good job of highlighting that. The camo reveal was interesting for sure. LOL Felix is totally a cockroach! And that was a great line from the Counselor! Felix is so selfish for sure, and you can tell he just really doesn't have any regard for Locus' will. He just assumes he'll follow his orders. I agree about how well done the writing for Santa was here in helping Locus come to this realization. He was really trapped in a toxic partnership with Felix for sure. I love Wash's faith in them too! They all get a cool moment here, even Freckles! Felix's end was so fitting! I agree, I think Locus will try to make up for his past. I'm glad you liked my theory about Felix! Yeah Hargrove just wants to take them down with him now. That suit is iconic for sure! I never saw it coming with Church! It was so beautiful and bittersweet. Dang, Miles kills it again with the writing - that speech was so moving. Oh good point about how that line about faith connects to Doyle too! It was a great goodbye. Church is the best!!!! Awww glad you could relate to my sigh, and I'm so happy you enjoyed hearing my thoughts on it all! Thanks for always being so awesome and supportive to me!! Sorry I take a long time to write, but I always enjoy reading your comments!!!! ^_^
