Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to Red vs. Blue season 14, episodes 21 - 24!!! Oh wow, that Freelancer two-parter was soooo fun and did not go how I expected hahaha!!  Who knew that Freelancer was such a high school drama behind the scenes?!  It was so weird seeing Connie, Wash and even Georgia in those roles!
And dang, did that story go off the rails lol!  OMG, the Warthog "experiment" cracked me up so hard!!!  I have no idea if they did actual science there, but what a treat it was to see Miles in a Halo suit hahaha!  SPEAKING OF seeing folks, we get to meet the real live action crew....meeting our fictional crew.....!!!  I never, EVER knew I needed that breaking of the fourth wall so badly!!!  It was hilarious and really cleverly done!  What an awesome batch and a terrific season, I'm really gonna miss it!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Checking in briefly after an “adventurous” travel day - have you ever had a tire blowout on vacation? Highly don’t recommend it. Speaking from experience. Anyway, made it to my first stop, so had a chance to check in on this. The first batch, is basically the groundwork for the entire series when you think about it. Do you ever wonder why we’re here? More importantly, do you ever wonder how Project Freelancer got the idea for the simulated scenarios in the first place? Well, it was because this group of soldiers gave them the idea here. By the way, Elizabeth Maxwell, who did Ohio, is an extremely well known dub VA for anime, and she is also the voice of Winter Schnee in RWBY. The whole scienc-y immersion thing is kinda clever, I believe this isn’t the only time RT tried stuff like this, but this was bigger budget. Also, the big explosion at the end was directly referencing the big explosion near the end of Speed, that’s the joke. There are fourth wall breaks, and then there are fifth wall breaks. It’s kind of hilarious just how similar the VAs are to their characters… except Burnie, the joke here is that Lopez speaks Spanish and Burnie actually doesn’t. Gus (Simmons’ VA) writes them out for him and he has no clue what he’s actually saying when he reads for Lopez. But now he really is stuck in a canyon with a bunch of idiots. All to stop Miles from introducing three dozen new characters, lol. Also if you wanted to know what would happen if Tucker ever tried to hit on Yang… yeah that’s pretty much what I pictured. (That was Barb socking him in case that was unclear.) Don’t know much about the song, it was probably from the Death Battle. We now move into what’s for all intensive purposes, the final arc of RvB - and things are gonna go… sideways. But it’s RvB. When do they not? 🙃

^^^^ Well, you got to meet one of my favorite characters! I love Agent Ohio. Wanting to be herself while also having a purpose is very relatable. And her need for a purpose leads to such a fun and unexpected twist! LOL.

Fact! I like Iowa! That end one was clever. The lengths they go to to entertain is appreciated. Plus it’s cool to see how things sort of workish 🤔

Here's hoping the rest of your vacation is eventful only in a good way! Safe travels! I mean, I hadn't thought about it, but that really is groundwork for everything else isn't it? Whoa! Ohhhhh gotcha, thanks for clearing that up, I knew the name and voice were familiar! Ohhhhhh I'm not sure if I've ever actually seen Speed, which would be why that went over my head, but that's a nice nod with the context! Really fun that they did all that! LOL fifth wall break is a better summation actually! I'd heard that about Burnie not speaking Spanish but didn't think of it here, that's amazing! LOL the joke about Miles making all the new characters was such a nice in-joke burn haha! Oh yeah, I knew it was Barb, that's what I enjoyed it so much!!! Hahaha omg this is actually a great question: Naruto, Kamen Rider W, Squid Game, Death Note (read the manga so can't really react now), and pretty much any Star Wars movie, cause they would have been awesome to go into totally blank and react to!!! >.<

This finale makes me miss Joel Heyman. Not only was it fun to listen to him rant, (his coworkers would wind him up to see it), but he truly was the voice of Caboose. They tried recasting him last year for a Death Battle, I think, and it sounded completely wrong.

I love this set of episodes. I think episodes 21/22 are a great little story. I am fond of this trio of characters because of their shenanigans and how entertaining they are but I especially like Ohio because of her personality & how relatable her desire to be acknowledged is. I like how silly they are with the games. I really like the banter between them because we can tell they are true friends. It’s funny & sad to learn how much like high school the project was. The montage of how different training for the trio is compared to other freelancers is hilarious. The mongoose stuff with Iowa always makes me giggle it’s a great gag. Yeah getting a ominous feeling when the counselor starts to talk to them alone is not surprising with what we know of the director’s love of tests. Ohio’s excitement at finally getting a mission is adorable. Ending the episode on the group is amazing honestly. I think the way Ohio comes to the realization that this was just a way to get rid of them was really well done. I really feel bad for all the characters that were abandoned on this planet with the knowledge that it’s because they were seen as such a detriment to their groups. The scene where they are honest with each other and use their real names is sweet. I love the interactions between these groups it’s a fun dynamic. Sherry being able to read people really well is cool. Unfortunately just when it looked like they were all going to learn a lesson & the leaders could possibly have a relationship everything went crazy and Vera ran in the opposite direction of the lesson which was funny but kind of sad LOL. Also nice representation with the LGBT women. I thought the voice acting was great. I’m sure someone told you but Ohio’s voice actress Elizabeth Maxwell also plays Winter from RWBY. Immersion is a long running series RT does where they do science experiments based on video games and possibly other things but I have not watched the series but I really should 1 of these days because it’s fun. I love the comedy between Burnie and Miles as well as the physical comedy. You have to respect the work RT does for the Immersion series when it comes to the science and engineering stuff. It’s so fun to see something from a video game come to life. The authentic X button is just the cherry on the top. I like that they added a short story of live-action Red vs Blue even if it’s not that deep especially the unnecessary explosion. The final episode is great because of the meta commentary and how awesome/interesting the concept of the episode is. The jokes at the start are great with the weird analogy and savage burns. I like the commentary on the younger generation becoming more dominant in workplaces based in part on real life. I love seeing the IRL people from RT exaggerating their own personalities because I find it funny & interesting especially once you add the characters from the show into the mix. I like how the writers used a simple premise to create so many amazing interactions between the characters and their actors. I like a lot of this but 1 of my favorite parts of the episode is all the motion capture. My other favorite thing is how it’s like the saying you talked about both art imitates life and life imitates art with all the ridiculous stuff LOL. Also the stuff with Lopez all of it is pure gold. Barbara getting to punch Tucker is amazing. I love the Vic speech because of the lesson/meaning it gives to stories & the creativity of everyone. I agree it is touching. I love the song used for the Death Battle. I love the combination of hard work and the more etheral/foreboding female vocals it works really well for Carolina & the Meta. With the lyrics I think the song is more about Carolina and fits her character more. I love how a lot of the instruments cut out to let the vocals stand out at the end of the song. I’m really glad you enjoyed/loved this season so much & I agree what they decided to do for the finale was perfect. I can see what you were saying with the comparison to Animaniacs. Not much else to say except awesome reaction & thoughts. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

I know, it was very high schoolish right! I couldn't agree more about the group dynamic and how good the ending was. I LOVE Elizabeth Maxwell!!! Sherry was so fun and the representation was also great. Things go a little off the rails there at the end hahaha but still. That is awesome about Immersion!!! The creativity in this team never ceases to amaze me! The live action stuff was such a great touch! And the subtle commentary is always a nice touch too. Oh the motion capture was fantastic! Hahahah pure gold there with Lopez, Barbara punching Tucker, etc.!!! The speech was touching right!! The song for Death Battle was so fitting, I agree!!! This one was so fun!!! I'm so happy you enjoyed my reaction!!! Thanks again for your patience with me!!! It's nice to relive these episodes via chatting about them!!!!
