Hey everyone! I'm back with season 2, episode 9 of Legend of Vox Machina!  Oh wow, it was great getting to know Grog better in this one!  Who knew that Pop Pop was the one who made him turn around from the life he was leading, whoa!  And little Pike was the one who healed him, squee!!!  So they've been together a LONG time....not just as friends, but practically as family!  I think Grog really needs to do this to resolve his past, but I have a feeling he'll end up getting some help from his friends - and maybe even end up putting the son/cousin in charge of things, which would be a huge advantage for Vox Machina!!!!  Great ep - enjoy!  ~ MH

Couple of character name notes for you to help out later - Kevdak is the uncle, Zanror is his son, and Kaylie is the person who Scanlan ran into with the troupe. There are two kinds of families: the first is the one you’re born into. The second is the one you get to choose. Obviously, they’re both different, and what happens in the first will actually affect how you choose the second. Some people will just choose to stay with what they know. Others will listen to their own heart and make the decision for themselves. Sometimes this is good. Sometimes this is bad. Whatever the case, it’s a series of choices that led Grog to where he is now. Or, as another show you recently wrapped up put it, “the things you do for others end up coming back to help you, in the end.” Meanwhile, Scanlan and Pike have run into someone who is also a musician and I have to wonder if this will cause some sort of friction between them… because that guy looks at every female who crosses his path. Meanwhile, Grog is coming home to clean house, without his natural strength… so yay? Blow on those dice a little more! PS: The kitty is not important. This show just saw what Jojo did to you earlier this week and decided to spend three more seconds adding to your triggers this week. But they aren’t dogs, so… I guess they’re adhering to your request? You really need to be more specific when asking your shows not to do stuff. 😅

That was a fantastic disgusting horrific beautiful episode all together. That opening had me hating the tribe, if that’s what they solely do. Seeing Grog in there shook me awake. It opened to eyes, and I will never see him in the same light fully again. I thought Pop pop was a beautiful man before but this put much more meaning into their family. I loved that dialogue about protecting the little guy from Grog. It does take a lot to have muscle, but to face something so hardcore and brutal is what should be valued as strength. Not everyone can do that. I mean look at all those muscle heads who were under Kevdak yet couldn’t because they didn’t have what Grog does. I can’t say anything more this really shook me it was so good. I’m terrified for the next, but let’s go!

2023-07-21 18:05:54 Thanks for clearing that up! You know how I am with names :/ So well said, and it could not be more true that what happens in the first affects all your choices later on with the second. Some stay in whatever atmosphere they were raised in, some do a 180. Omg, so true with the quote!!! :'D Hahaha you weren't kidding about the friction! OMG, I making Keiwa-level mistakes with what I wish for!!! Kitties!!!! >.< Lol!

So well said, it really was!!! Seriously, what an opening. Yeah seeing Grog's past puts a whole lot in perspective. I know, as if Pop Pop couldn't be any more wonderful! Seriously, that's the real meaning of strength - not brutality! It took a lot of guts for sure. Yeah no one else could stand up like Grog did!!! Awww I'm so happy you enjoyed it, it was a terrific ep!!!!!!!!! Can't believe we're so close to the end now!

So forgot to tell this last time but Pike’s grandpa is voiced by Billy Boyd from LOTR! Only fitting since we had Dominic last season. Was great to see Grog’s backstory, from watching the campaign people got to hear it a million times cause they’d have the characters’s telling their stories play during breaks when they were starting off, but it was nice actually getting to see it. Hyped for next episode, it was specifically what I’d been looking forward to this whole season, one of my favorite moments from the campaign!
