Hey everyone!  I'm back with Jujutsu Kaisen season 2, episode 4!  Oh dang.....so that's the story of what went down between Gojo and Fushiguro's dad....!!!  Also, I guess he really didn't forget he had a son after all....just the name?  It was amazing watching Gojo really level up to the amount of power we know he has current day.  His realization of it was almost scary but also really majestic!  I feel so bad about what happened with Riko but at least Gojo got her body back.  Dang, to think that Geto is still holding firm to his ideals right now is pretty crazy.  What an ep!!!  Can't wait for more!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Hello Melissa, this episode of Jjk was so good. Probably one of my favorite episodes of jujutsu kaisen yet. It really felt like a fever dream. Mappa is constantly putting out banger after banger. Gojo is so OP being able to survive that. seems like the only way to kill him is to cut off his head I guess? Or completely crush him lmao. Surprised Megumi's Dad ended up dying! I definitely thought he was going to return as an antagonist in the present. Damn. I liked him as a villian. Animation and action scenes 10/10 as usual. Gojo and Geto's personalities are so interesting. But I have to admit that Gojo scared me in a few scenes with his crazy smile and his killer look. I'm so excited to see how the season continues.

Let’s start by summing up what we already knew: this show can be pretty brutal when it wants to be. I’d call the whole Riko scene kind of Joss Whedon-like in terms of style. One minute you’re here and then you’re not. I think the biggest difference between the fights is the way they were approached. Hero was emotional and aggressive, and because of this, Toji already had a leg up on him - and he ended up winning. Meanwhile, Gojo was completely the opposite - he lacked any emotion and was thinking rationally, despite looking like he had just overdosed on something. Toji wanted to prove himself and it backfired on him on two fronts: one, it led to his death, and two, Gojo got powered up to an understanding of his abilities that he wouldn’t have otherwise. Also, they specifically mentioned the Star Religious Group remains non-sorcerers and I’m guessing part of that reason is because jujutsu sorcerers are not allowed to attack them… even though it’s hard to blame Gojo - if everyone was applauding the fact you let a friend die, I imagine that’s gonna bother anyone with a shred of sanity. Interesting how Geto was sticking up for the “audience members” at first - so he still hasn’t done the role reversal? I admit it was a bit hard to tell which one of them was saying which lines in the after credits scene so I might possibly be confused. Premature death… we’ve already had that, what next? Also the banter on the chalky preview talk at the end is safe at this point I’m pretty sure, you don’t need to worry about cutting it off unless they start changing the format again. Ohhh… now I get it… Toji’s curse holding all his tools is why it was called Hidden Inventory! D’oh!

Hi Hime :) It makes me laugh that Toji says "don't be impatient" at the start of a fight and it cuts into the opening. The animators pointed this straight at us. This is the second time a happy and lively guy has been called "monster" by someone powerful on your channel lol. It's always something when the "happy go lucky" character switches to another mode. The phrase Gojo says "Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the honored one" is attributed to Buddah when awaken. Gojo is therefore a Buddhist figure here and makes the same statement, which basically symbolizes that everyone is equal. Geto and Gojo both faced Toji, someone without cursed energy and got a different experience. Gojo recognizes that the cursed energy is not everything and therefore everyone is equal. Geto continues to differentiate jujtsu sorcerer and mere human, "monkey" as Toji says. It's this binary thinking that's gonna be Geto's downfall Even if we can take this scene as Geto wanting to protect humans and Gojo not caring about them, I personally take it as Geto having a narrow thought of "us" and "them" while Gojo thinks of "everyone". Maybe it's because I'm queer, that I've seen a lot of anti-queer or even racist messages, that I see this version of things. I personally take everyone as equal, but I know that racists and other "phobes" only see the world in binarity. Geto is therefore on the way to his radicalization unfortunately...

Wow Toji is definitely one of those not fit to be a parent types to me. Idk if he’d do anything with Megumi being sold, had he still lived but with those last words he’s at least thinking of the kid. Makes you wonder 🤷‍♂️ Yeah you said it perfectly where not meant to know everything just yet but they have mentioned names and characters like Tengen. Idk what he even looks like or would look like but I’m aching to find out to put my mind to rest. I’m at least glad they retrieved her body but that was so horrible just passing her along like that. Like some possession that was morbid on so many levels. Poor soul 😢 Man I’m getting sadder and sadder with Geto. Each episode, especially this one, he’s getting closer to what we now know. He’s still being human about it all but barely holding on. It’s weird knowing the circumstances he was sustaining.

Manny

Definitely interesting about the different experiences. I remember season 1 Gojo inputted they should move Maki up already after seeing her fight Miwa. I don’t think Gojo S2E1 would have thought that way prior this.

Spadeas

There is definitely a connection for me. In the movie Zero, Geto calls Maki "monkey", the same way Toji refers to himself (presumably an insult he heard from another member of the Zenin clan about him). While Gojo wants to protect Maki who has also been rejected by the Zenin clan. In a way, taking Maki and Megumi under his wing is a way of correcting what happened with Toji so that it doesn't happen again.

Hey Bellana! It was awesome right! They're really doing great this season! He's way OP!! Yeah I don't think much could take him out at this point!! I know, I wasn't sure how far they were planning to take Toji's story or if they'd mentioned anything about him dying in season 1, but that was a pretty brief story with him! He's a pretty memorable villain for sure. The animation was superb! And Gojo definitely got a little scary in this one! I love seeing how they're developing Gojo and Geto's characters too. Same!! Can't wait to see more!

Seriously, like when they go hard they REALLY go hard! So true about the reversal of the trope during the fight. Right, they did mention that the Star Religious Group are non-sorcerers....but I really can't blame Gojo for feeling that way either, who wouldn't in that situation. Yeah I think that's what they were implying about Geto, although I'm sure this will go a long way in his downfall in the long run. Yeah with a name like Premature Death, who knows!! Thanks about the ending banter, I think you're right! OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I never once put that together about Hidden Inventory!! WOW!!!

kamenriderhime

Yeah I can see that for sure! But I guess he did somewhat care, so yeah, it does make you wonder! I know, we know next to nothing about Tengen aside from the bare minimum of how his immortality works, so I think they're definitely going to unveil more info over time! I know, I'm glad they were able to get her body but it's still so utterly morbid and sad. Poor Riko :(((( I know, you can really see it starting to weigh on Geto, even if he hasn't quite "turned to the dark side" or anything yet.

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) Ohhh that's so true about Toji breaking the fourth wall with the cut to credits like that! And so true, I seem to remember another instance of the happy-go-lucky kid being called a monster....!! Yeah so true, when a character like that switches modes, it's really something. Wow, that is absolutely fascinating, thank you for taking the time to explain that perspective on Gojo and Geto and how they see the world! I'm ashamed to say I didn't pick up on that at first but I can absolutely see how the very binary thinking could actually be really problematic and lead to the kind of thinking we know that Geto has now. You're right that this way of thinking can be seen in a lot of other discriminatory ways of thinking. Thank you for explaining that to me! Also a great point about how Gojo sees Maki and Megumi after this experience!!!
