Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to RvB season 17, eps 5 - 8!  OMG!!!  We are really picking up speed with this plot and the cleverness/intricacies are in full swing!!!  I also absolutely LOVE that we get resolution to the tension between Wash and Carolina here, as well as an awesome character moment for Donut!!  Good for him!!!!  And as if that wasn't enough, HUGGINS!!!!  So black holes make time loops huh?  And this "blockage" caused by our crew needs to be cleared up in order for that to keep moving.  So happy we've got the whole gang together putting their minds to this!  And who knew Caboose would have it all figured out??  I did, because he's my best boy that's why!!!  Man, we are firing on all cylinders here!  I can't wait to see how it all turns out!  Great eps!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Hey melissa! Great batch as usual! I want you to look at a small detail: there's a web link on the monitor that you can see when Sarge repeatedly deletes the blues in the last episode of this batch. If you enter that link, you'll find an easter egg video!

Washington makes an interesting point that Project Freelancer was like High School - which you don’t really put together until you do - and he was the nerd. So if Carolina’s the popular kid in class and he ends up with her… okay wait, this sounds too much like an anime plot. Not saying Car Wash isn’t something I’d be down for though… 🤣 Anyway you’ve almost got the concept… except that they are able to jump between points on their timeline that they remember, they’re not really “dreams” - and every time they change something, a crack appears on Chrovos’ prison, because it’s another alternate reality. When Caboose got mad, Genkins bolted from Church, so when Caboose was beating him up he was actually beating actual Church. Light is information and cannot be destroyed… and it sounds like their parents expected the entire universe to go down the drain… but the paradoxes blocked it. Everything is broken forward from when Washington got shot. Keep that in mind. Genkins took pizza, tried to kill Huggins and is testing everyone’s sanity. The guy’s asking for it but you can’t deny he loves his job. Donut’s finally owning his identity and standing up for himself… kind of a long time waiting on that one. And of course, Sarge would have trouble saying an apology. Before Huggins gave their idea to the crew about scouting ahead, Lopez already zapped backwards to relive his existence one day at a time just the way he has. Maybe that’s why he’s always depressed? So recall when Huggins was talking to Caboose about the nature of time…? “Time is made out of circles, I am familiar with the concept.” Recall a conversation way back in the Blood Gulch Chronicles? Here’s a refresh: Church: I didn’t want to mess with the timeline! Caboose: Time… line? Time is not made out of lines. It is made out of circles. That is why clocks are round! Gotcha! 😁

Yeah it’s definitely a lot but I think I got it pretty lockdown for the most part; the writing is just that good. Washington is such a cool stand up guy now that I forget how he was perceived by the rest back in his freelancer days. Reliving and remembering that was such a aw moment. Definitely felt Donuts pain. It was so awesome getting to see Church in this one. Hearing his voice made me a little emotional. I remember when Church was trying to stop Wyoming from setting off a bomb, and kept failing; he mentioned “I tried to explain it to everyone and surprisingly Caboose is the only one who seems to understand”. Caboose’s mind is just on another level. He’s probably been waiting for the rest to catch up for ages. It’s too perfect he’d be the one to understand the complexities of time travel with ease. Seeing Donut give it to them was like a bandaid I’ve been aching to take off for the longest time. He really gave it to them. I wanted to give the group some aloe Vera for those burns. That was a well earned moment for him. It was awesome 👏 😎 And Huggins is back! Yay! Glad Grif got to see his buddy again. ✨ I so badly want to know how this next episode plays out. Tucker is in front of two enemies, that he knows are working together. I just can’t fathom that. Man this is kinda cool going back to some fantastic and pivotal moments. You’re watching stuff that has some sort of time travel concepts in them but how many can do it like this?! I love getting to see Sarge also reliving his best life. It’s the simple pleasures. Also poor Lopez. Again awful but hehe 🤭

kamenriderhime

Thank you so much!!! Ohhhh that's awesome, I need to go check it out! Thanks for the heads up!!!

kamenriderhime

I mean, he's not wrong with that comparison! Hahahaha ohhhhh are we doing the nerd/popular girl trope?! :O What in the slice of life?!?! CAR WASH!!! Still the best name ever for a ship! Gotcha, okay - I knew it was jumping through their memories, but wasn't quite clear on what that meant. Thanks for clarifying! Ohhhhh poor Caboose, he actually ended up beating up his bestie :P Right, thanks for the reminder about when time "broke". Genkins has a great attitude about his work but for hurting Caboose, taking away pizza and almost killing Huggins, I simply cannot forgive him! Lol not shocked that Sarge couldn't say sorry so easily, but yeah, it's nice to see Donut standing up for himself! OHHHHH I missed that that Lopez zapped back to relive each day before Huggins could suggest otherwise....yeah that makes sense as to why he's depressed! OHHHHHHHHHHHH you're right about that line from Caboose!!! Wow!!! I guess you could say....it all came FULL CIRCLE???? Eh? Ehhhh??? Ok I'm done :P

kamenriderhime

That's the thing, it's been so clever! Wash is amazing, it was nice to see him recognizing how things were for him back in the day and having empathy for Donut. I loved seeing/hearing Church!!! Oh yeah, that's right, Caboose was the only one who got it! It all makes sense! That's the thing, Caboose may seem like he doesn't understand much but I think his mind is just so far ahead on some levels that it's unreal lol. Oh I know, Donut standing up for himself was a long time coming!! LOL they got burned for sure! So awesome! YAY Huggins!!! I'm so happy for their friendship! I know, I can't wait to see how this all plays out!!!! It's so intense! The way they're doing time travel here is really on a whole other level! Hahahaha Sarge reliving his best moments, it really is the little things :P Awwww poor Lopez!!!! I know, like we shouldn't laugh but....how can you not help it lol!

I'm wondering if you've noticed the pattern for who Genkins takes over when he makes these alternate timelines...

TheSmartIdiot

Almost seems like Genkins dislikes Church, lmao. He exclusively goes for Church to possess and either puts Church in harms way, uses Church to create alternate realities, or uses other people to insult Church. He used Tex to insult Church in particular.

kamenriderhime

I just commented before I saw the second comment here but I was also gonna say Church!!! I figured it's because Church isn't around anymore so he's an easy target, but I guess maybe he really has it in for Church too??

You know what I realized watching this set of episodes? Everything I dislike about Shizno Paradox was in Season 16. Every little thing I can think of. Season 16 walked so Season 17 could RUN. It's not back to the heights of some of the old seasons but it is high quality amongst its peers. It's short, it's well written and (not to spoil anything) I like how it ends. I wasn't expecting that at the end of Season 16. I thought, "They went back to Blood Gulch AGAIN?" And assumed the next Season would be even worse. I didn't even watch 17 til it was a week away from ending.

kamenriderhime

You know what, that's actually a great way to put it! That's exactly what I was thinking too, that this season shines SO much but we literally couldn't have it without what Season 16 built. It's been amazing and I can't wait to see the ending!

I love this set of episodes and your reactions to them. It’s not surprising that Wash is freaking out being back here since it’s such a messed up part of his life. Something really cool is that a lot of people realized 479er was the one Washington was talking to in this miniseries when she was introduced in season 9 so it’s cool to get confirmation here when he calls her Ash by mistake. Also Ash is a cool name. It’s hilarious that Wyoming is left in a state of befuddlement by everything Washington is saying. Also the oh shit from Wash is the most genuine I have ever heard that phrase LOL. It’s so interesting to see the montage of him trying to figure out where Carolina went while she was in hiding especially with him realizing how much worse things were in the freelancer days with how people acted around each other as well as Carolina’s meanness. It is sad to see him failing to find out the information he needs but it’s done in such a funny way especially Washington asking in the middle of a fight. I love how Wash is shown to have similarities & relates to Donut in this situation with people not taking him seriously it’s great writing as a way to have Washington understand him better & especially because of how it brings back Wash being 1 of the weaker members of the project from season 9/10. I think it’s cool that the show brought in the triplets for this part to point out something obvious to Washington. Also someone pointing out something obvious that could have helped if only I realized I think we have all been there Wash LOL. Him screaming inside his helmet when he realizes they were right is 1 of the most hilarious things this season it’s still real. I like how Washington getting answers from Carolina allows him to see from her perspective & probably gives him the moment he needs to cool off from his anger. Great job on his part to come up with something plausible past Carolina would believe by appealing to her want for vengeance as well as make it relatable by emphasizing his own hatred with some great acting since he has long since mostly gotten over/come to terms with that hatred. It is really hard to watch her reaction to what happened to York once she sees Delta. I love how she quickly sees how different Wash is & without knowing why trusts him immediately. Also I think some people believe the fake name McAllister was her mother’s maiden name which would be cool. I love episode 6 with all the great character moments and writing. I can at least somewhat respect a character who loves/revels in being evil like Genkins does. What are the odds that Donut would get crushed by the ship Washington was using it’s so funny. I love that Sarge has a fully prepared speech for his victory although the best part are the noises Grif & Simmons are making. I love how once everyone starts seeing people they should not know the ball gets rolling & doesn’t stop. All the stuff Sarge is saying in the background are comedic gems in my opinion with the confusion and timing LOL. I love that Donut gets to step up with an awesome speech to bring everyone to their senses although unfortunately an innuendo still manages to slip in but he’s trying his best. It’s really satisfying to see Genkins losing control of the situation & panicking as well as get beat up later on. Carolina’s regrets, worries, emotions about Wash all coming out at once once she remembers what’s going on is great dialogue as well as amazing voice acting. I am really impressed by Jen Brown’s range acting as Carolina going from what she was like in the past with all the anger/bitterness to what she’s like in the present with the more positive emotions. I love that we get a proper reconciliation moment now that Wash has had time to cool off and think as well as see things from other viewpoints it’s sad but heartwarming. I love hearing about how Caboose goes through grief since everyone deals with grief differently and I like that being talked about. I love his really strong moment of punching the hell out of Genkins but poor Church from this time period coming back extremely confused about why he’s getting punched LOL. I think episode 7 is great. I think many of us really loved or at least liked Huggins so learning she was alive made me happy. I’m sure there is some real theory out there that the universe loops but I really like how this show did/handled this concept it’s really interesting. I love how Caboose understands the assignment & might be a genius trying to fix the timeline immediately. It’s unfortunate that she runs into him 1st since it’s a little confusing with him not being the best at communication. I feel bad that Huggins is so exasperated but at least she can get caught up to speed this way. All of the ways Kai comes up with to fuck with Tucker are absolutely unhinged but I think that’s why it’s hilarious & I like how the unresolved issues are pointed out by the closest thing they have to a doctor in Doc. Also at least Doc tried to get him treated with respect. I know it was written in advance but the stuff she was saying/doing with Tucker really felt like improv which I love. I can’t believe she actually convinced him that he had to repent or whatever. Also what he was apologizing to Doc for is wild I almost couldn’t believe it. It’s sad to see how down Donut is after the whole being called a traitor thing but at least he brought Tucker to his senses I guess? Donut owning the pink & standing up for himself is such a powerful moment. I love how he dresses everyone down & telling them exactly how messed up they have been treating him. It’s sad to hear some of how he’s feeling but I’m glad he’s talking about it. Also I love him shouting pink as a mic drop moment at the end of the speech. I love Wash acting like the dad of the group being very stern in wanting them to apologize. It makes me really happy to see you loving the unlikely friends of Wash & Donut because it’s 1 of my favorite things done in this season. I think episode 10 is great as set up for what they have to do & how to do it. I love that Donut does not immediately accept the apologies because it really shows how much stronger he is now and makes sense. It’s hilarious that they just tell Church to just go to bed because of how confusing everything is. I love that no matter how angry Huggins is at Grif the friendship is still there & him being so happy while she’s so mad is amazing. I love her utility in the story being able to tell them where Genkins is to fix or stop what parts of time he’s messing with. It does save time which Grif is very happy about LOL but also makes it easier to fight the villains. I love the moment of Huggins showing Sarge her strength by going to the moon and back in a sec it feels like a very speedster superhero thing to do. I think it’s awesome that Caboose was able to make everything easily understandable for everyone with a kind of weird analogy. It’s cool to see these moments from past seasons again with some differences. Sarge being so happy to relive deleting the Blues is an amazing moment. I love Grif getting revenge for his balls it’s ridiculous but amazing LMAO. Also the whole Dr. Leonard Church was basically trying to make a body pillow with Tex is extreme but not really wrong LOL it’s wild. And what a place to end with Tucker having to go through a bad moment. I agree with you that the show having all the character development but still having same core jokes/character traits but also a lot of subversion & still being the same characters and just as funny is fantastic writing & so awesome. There are many peaks of this show but I agree this is 1 of them. Awesome reaction & thoughts. Keep up the great work. :-) <3

Hey!!! I'm gonna jump in and write back to your comment but I just wanted to say thanks for your patience!! I'm a bit swamped at the moment and I'm so sorry I've gotten behind on all the feedback you've been leaving on my RvB videos!!! I'm excited to jump in and write you back soon though ^_^ Thanks for being so awesome!!!

kamenriderhime

Yes, I really enjoyed how this season continued in these eps. There were definitely some great moments with Wash here! Everyone had something to do here and it was great to see the characters shine! And yes, the moon speedrun was definitely very speedster superheroish!
