Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to RvB Zero, eps 1 - 3!  Oh wow, this was even better than I thought it would be!  Not only do we have some familiar faces (!!!!), but we also get to meet a whole new crop of main characters and villains, all with some decent backstories and possible mysteries/twists ahead???  The look, style, music, etc. is also really working!  I can't wait to get to know everyone better and figure out what's really going on here!!!  Great eps!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Looking back, I am not much of a fan of how Zero was, but I'll admit that the fight choreography was very well done. I am glad to hear you're enjoying it though.

I'll go more into my full thoughts at the end of the season, but I did enjoy these episodes. Torian Crawford is the Showrunner, Director, and Lead Animator of this Season and kinda intended for this Season as like a restart for the series and to get new people interested in RvB. Omega Sparx does all the music for this Season, and honestly I wouldn't mind a reaction to all the lyrical songs if you want. Most of the voice actors are new, besides Shannon and Jen lol Although the VA for the main villain, Christian Young, also voiced Rhodes in RWBY Volume 8 Chapter 6: Midnight, and Daman Mills, who voiced the big tough blue villain who fought East, Diesel, voiced Lionheart in RWBY Volume 5. On that note, the Good Guys a part of Shatter Squad and the bad guys are called Viper. Phase is the pink one with teleporting knife, Diesel is the big blue tough guy, Zero the leader. It's kinda hard to get the hang of their names because we just have so little time in this season unfortunately. 8 episodes, 15-ish minutes each. The entire series was animated in the Unreal Engine, so no machinamation at all. Quite a few of the animations were free and recycled animations from the Unreal Store due to its rushed production and short runtime. Looking forward to your thoughts in the next batch.

The initial batch is promising to this season, but I have a few problems with choices they made later down the line. I’ll save that for later, however. Roster Names: Shatter Squad (Good Guys) One - Blue Armor West - Orange Armor / Commander East - Pink Armor Raymond - Different Orange Armor / Tech Guy Axel - Red Armor Viper (Bad Guys) Zero - Red Armor / Commander Phase - Purple Armor Diesel - Blue Armor As far as crossovers, it was stated above, but the VA for Zero was Rhodes, Cinder’s teacher in V8, and Diesel’s VA was Leonardo Lionheart in V5. This season came out several years after S17 ended. The director said what he wanted to go for was a vibe similar to the film franchise of “The Fast and the Furious.” Given the action style it kind of adds up. You mentioned you liked the cutaways with the fights. Well, it isn’t just for style choices, that’s all I’ll say for now. Viper Squad’s objective has nothing to do with the Chorus artifacts or towers - this is something completely different, but it’s using the same kind of mechanics. Starlight Laboratories, which Viper is currently assaulting, is the company West took East to for her “treatment.” I don’t know how Carolina could possibly relate to a emotional teenage girl with father issues. 👀 I see you noticed the closed captions stopped after the first episode - but I would also recommend, if you can, raising the OBS on the reaction a little - the captioning cuts off the way it’s currently formatted if there’s more than one line in the dialogue box. As for the rest of this season, we’ll, I’ll save that for as we get to it. Wait… did Axel just call his gardening tool the MOWllenium Falcon? Washington’s neck just beeped so I think my dinner’s ready. See you later. I’m gonna go watch Carolina at work - I think those two just tried to call her grandma again. 😋

Okay I’m always so lost when people complain about these later seasons/ or in the case, new series becomes they turn out to be the most fantastic things I’ve ever seen! I mean this was pretty phenomenal! I really like it. The way people were talking it seemed like this was going to be serious gameplay mode through and through. I thought it had the same feel as some of the freelancer seasons, action wise. The humor is there which I loved. Definitely nice we got some Carolina and Wash in there. I think that’s what did it for me. It’s its own show, with its own story but jumping from OG to new blood definitely would have been an adjustment for the viewer. It’s unfair to the new cast when viewers see them as trying to compete with whatever was first. I get that but same time it’s what we knew for so long so having those two in there really was a great way to have some of our guys there and make it feel like they’re still around without taking away from these new guys. And I’m really loving these guys as a group already! It still feels like the same show but with different guys, with the same feel, only with more . . . . competence (does that make sense?). It’s like the took the best bits from previous seasons and created something really marvelous. The best action, funny humor components, dangerous villains and awesome suits; the just took a bit of everything and made this brand new concept. It works really well. People are crazy, I’m lovin it! PS I call that end part of the charger an adapter.

Sounds good, can't wait to hear what you think! I can see how this is sort of a reboot. Ooooh I'd be down with doing a soundtrack reaction! The music is really good so far! I'm so glad that Wash and Carolina are still in this! Ohhhh I knew some of the voices sounded familiar! Thanks for the name info! You know how I am with names anyway, and it sounds like we won't get much practice learning them this time around. Wow, so it's all animation! Awesome! Can't wait to hear what you think of my next reactions too, thanks!

Yeah this was pretty amazing right!!!! I can see how it's a big switch for some people, but there's still a lot to love here! Yeah I thought it was gonna be an even heavier tone too, it's definitely more lighthearted than I would have expected! LOVE that Carolina and Wash are still here! It helps with the adjustment for sure. I totally get that, it's always gonna be hard with the comparisons, but it's best to give these new folks a fair shot too - after all, even our reds and blues were new to us once! They're a fun crew right! Hahaha definitely a bit more competent, but still a fun vibe! That's a great way to put it actually, they took elements of what came previously and did something new and fun with it. It all looks and feels great so far, couldn't agree more. Hahahaha omg Manny that's exactly the right term for it, I legit couldn't think of it haha!!!! Adapter :P

Man, I forgot that’s how episode 3 ended. Why did I stop watching it here?! XD now I actually get that line one of the random soldiers said at the beginning about Wash being out of commission, I might have missed that line the first time or just forgot about it cause I didn’t know the context lol
