Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to season 1, episode 8 of Ahsoka!!!  WOW what a finale!!!!  As much as I would have loved to have seen everything all wrapped up here, this only opens things up for another season down the road.  The New Republic will have their hands full now that Thrawn's loose, but at least they got Ezra back!  Meanwhile, Ahsoka and Sabine basically swapped places with him lol.  I love Ahsoka's attitude about it though.  I loved what they did with capping off the character development for Sabine/Ahsoka!  And I love the little things, like the mentions of Kanan, and Anakin watching over her....!!!!!  What a great series and season!  Can't wait till we hopefully get more!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

I loved this series. Loved how Sabine primarily used her armor to block most of the shots and her using her lightsaber with her mostly deflecting shots at the ground because of her unfamiliararity with it and her fighting style in general lol Everyone seems to have their own style in this series which I really like. The ending is kinda bittersweet, Thrawn got what he wanted and escaped, but so did Ezra. This is the first time we're seeing Dathomir in live action! So cool! It's kinda funny how worried Thrawn was about Anakin's Apprentice, and now he has to deal with Luke and Leia, Anakin's kids lol I wouldn't be surprised if Luke listens to Hera since they did talk before in a Comic in between Empire Strikes Back and Return of The Jedi. Also Leia and Hera seem to get along. So, the wording they use when Morgan Elsbeth becomes a full Nightsister is the same for when Ventress became a full Nightsister in Clone Wars Season 4 Episode 19, "My loyalty. My life." I think the Blade of Talzin might be the same blade Mother Talzin used against Mace Windu in Clone Wars Season 6 Episode 9. The Statues are The Father, The Son, and The Daughter. And the Daughter's Statue has her head missing. And we also have Morai here, which is kinda like The Daughter's reincarnation. Interesting. So, we see The Father's Statue pointing a mountain area. In Legends we also had The Mother, Abeloth. She was kinda like this Force monster that was out of control and very powerful and they had to imprison her in a mountain. I wonder if Peridea is where they were originally from and Mortis was just where the Father decided to imprison his children. And maybe Baylan thinks that freeing Abeloth could remake time and forge a new beginning for him. Really hoping they can recast him and continue his story respectfully instead of writing him out completely because of Ray Stevenson's passing. Shin seems to have decided to become the leader of the Raiders on Peridea. The different path that Baylan mentioned. I love that Anakin was watching over Ahsoka and Sabine. And maybe they have their own journey to go on here as well, similarly to when Obi-Wan saw Qui Gon at the end of the Kenobi series. I could see a Season 2 happening. We also know that there's gonna be a Movie directed by Dave Filoni which might incorporate all the Live Action Shows in the New Republic Era. Maybe we could see it after a second Season of Ahsoka and Mando, Bo Katan and the Mandalorians on Mandalore and Navarro, Ahsoka, the Ghost Crew, and maybe even Luke, could all team up against Thrawn. After this I think we have Acolyte, maybe next year or the year after that, which takes place at the end of the High Republic Era, just a hundred years or so before Phantom Menace and I think it'll delve more into the secret Sith that Plaguis and Palpatine came from and their Rule of 2. And after that the Animated Series like Bad Batch I think. Although it might take a while depending on how the strikes go.

Claudia Black is a beautiful woman, but she is absolutely terrifying in the Nightsister Mother makeup, they did a very good job making them seem otherworldly and downright scary. The Blade Of Talzin they gift to Morgan, was used by Mother Talzin to fight Mace Windu in that weird Jar-Jar team up with him in season 6 of Clone Wars. Nice that they bring it back here for Morgan to duel Ahsoka with. When Ezra is building his lightsabre, he mentions to Huyang that the blade emitter is too narrow, a nice little wink to the thin lightsabres in Rebels (which I adore and wish they continued to use in live action after A New Hope!). I always prefer a green lightsabre blade, but as this lightsabre is a homage to Kanan, then heck yes I'm glad thats what Ezra did to honour him as he comes back to the galaxy as a Jedi Knight. Kanan was the best... I'm glad that Ahsoka mentions to Sabine about there being more to a Jedi than having a lightsabre. The blade was a symbol of the Jedi Order yes, and it allowed Jedi to act as they saw fit in certain situations; but there is much more to being a peacekeeper than that. Of course Sabine brings up that its very much needed at these times, and thats true, most of what we see of the Jedi is them fighting literally to save those they can; but for most of their history a lightsabre was seen as a last resort and that Jedi Knights were able to solve disputes in other more peaceful ways. Obi-Wan was called the Negotiator for example, even though he was the finest swordsman in the order. That, he learnt from Qui-Gon, who in turn learnt to be that from the better side of Dooku. Anakin was much more hands-on, but we see in episode 5 of the series, that he was able to become more than a mere (dark) warrior as he finally found balance within himself, even if that was post-mortem. Ahsoka is all from that lineage, as Sabine could be too. Yes, she can be able to fight even better than she has been if she taps into her potential, but she can also find a balance between being a Mandalorian and Jedi too, as well as being able to move on from all that has happened to her and her family over the years. We see that with Ezra here, who idolised Kanan, but through his teachings, Ezra has become his very own definition of a Jedi Knight. Thrawn planning a ground assault after taking down Ahsoka's ship is smart. A lesser imperial office would say thats job done, but he knows who he is dealing with and that he has merely stalled them for the time being, so is going on the offensive to ensure he completes his own mission rather than wait for them to come to him. I also like the little thing where Morgan tells Thrawn the Night Troopers are willing to stay behind to sacrifice themselves for him, and he corrects her by saying its for the Empire. It seems he doesn't want to become an Emperor himself, just someone who believes in the stability and supposed order that the Empire can bring to the galaxy. He doesn't want power for power's sake. Lars Mikkelsen showing the fury behind the calm demeanour as our crew manage to escape his "hellfire" and get access to the temple underneath his destroyer. Nice touch that, we only ever saw him lose his temper once in Rebels, but he was close to here as his plans are still very much up in the air at this point. He has to send in the Night Troopers and Morgan to slow them down to allow him to depart this galaxy. I love that they are actually zombie stormtroopers too, that is awesome! The actress who playes Morgan Elsbeth, is from a line of martial artists and has family links to the great Bruce Lee, so she knows her stuff, and also choreographed the fight between her and Ahsoka, and it looked boss! She takes out Ahsoka's shoto lightsabre, as she did in Mando, though this time she destroys it, so Ahsoka does one better, disarms the Blade of Talzin from Morgan, and cuts through her with both blades. Nice! Sabine and Ezra running into trouble with those purge troopers upstairs (who wear lightsabre resistant armour as they used to run with Inquisitors to help take out Jedi stragglers), and Sabine is able to call on the force to grab her lightsabre to show she's allowed it to finally speak to her. She was able to call on it to an extent when wielding the darksabre, though unknowingly, and its as the saying goes "the force will be with you, always". She's able to then give Ezra a bit of a force boost to get on board the Chimaera to bring him home. She has to be there now for Ahsoka and abandons the hopes of returning with Ezra momentarily. Ezra mimicking the stormtrooper then dressing up as them, is so like watching Rebels. Eman Esfandi has truly shone as that pesky Loth-rat! Its great that its Chopper who recognises him too when he gets back, and besides Chopper isn't scared of any stormtroopers either, even when the whole hangar has guns pointed at Ezra! Thrawn saying his hello and goodbye to Ahsoka as he departs, bringing up Anakin, and hinting he knew who he became. A few weeks back his conversation may have had a different outcome, but Ahsoka has now moved on from her past, its like water off a duck's back to her now. I do like that he mentions her being a ronin though, as thats what I thought of her when she showed back up in Mando; a masterless peripatetic samurai, righting wrongs wherever they wander. She has become more than that once again though, she is also a teacher, one who carries on the message of the Jedi to others. So Ahsoka and Sabine are left stranded there on Peridea for the time being, but that will be good for Sabine as she can get all the training she needs to now from Ahsoka so that when they do return, they'll be once more a force to be reckoned with. So we see Baylan standing on one of two momuments, with him on the arm of The Father. We see the Son there too and the Daughter has crumbled a long time ago. Though the spirit of the Daughter is still there, in Morai and Ahsoka. Who are those statues reaching out too? The Mother, Abeloth, the most powerful force user in all the EU - so it looks like she could be the one Ahsoka will have to try to deal with in season 2. She has Anakin by her side though, so I'm sure will overcome that monstrosity. In tears at the end music though. The theme Kevin Kiner uses, is from an unaired piece in Rebels at the end of season 2 as Ezra and Kanan come back home wounded in different ways and Ahsoka is gone - like here. The piece they used there was called Its Over Now, here it is : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8z09ezfIQ_o And this the unaired alternate version which gets used in this finale, called Where The Sun Sails And The Moon Walks : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Y5hnRQN0vw We can hear that rehashed here in the outro. Its my favourite piece from Rebels, and I often wondered if we might one day hear it if Ahsoka dies someday. So glad we heard it here though, utterly wonderful end to a very enjoyable first season to this, where everything is up in the air; Thrawn has returned to cause further devastation across the galaxy with his army of nightsisters and zombie stormtroopers; Ahsoka and Sabine will have to deal with Abeloth, and I'm sure we'll also delve more into the beginnings of the First Order also. Plenty to look forward to Mel, loved your reactions as always! :D

Forgot to put this in my original post, but if this original video link post is bad, it might be better deleting it for future confusion. :)

That was so perfect. I loved this series. So amazing seeing how far Sabines come as a person and padawan. The expression on Hera’s face when she saw Ezra again was so perfect. And of course Chopper would know something was up with that stormtrooper. I’m so happy we saw such a huge gathering of the rebels here. Even Kanan! Ahsoka was right everyone is meant to be where they’re at. Hera knew that to be true. And it’s so wonderful seeing they’re being watched over by them. It’s so amazing! Ezra is back! Fully back and I can’t sit for next season! I really can’t. Even though Thrawn escaped I’m so ecstatic that they’ll kick his butt next time around. >:)

Oh thank you for the suggestion! I didn't wanna get rid of everyone's comments so I left it, otherwise I'd totally do that for the sake of organization and whatnot!

Me too!!! Omg Hera's face was perfect! And I loved Sabine's arc too. Chopper hahaha, of course he knew! I know, the reference to Kanan was so good!!! Ahsoka's got the right idea alright, and true that I think Hera felt it too. OMG the fact that they're being watched over :'D EZRA!!! I cannot wait for another season, I hope we get one! Seriously, like technically we didn't end on a victory per se, but this still felt like a happy ending. They've got this for sure!!!
