Hey everyone!  Here it is - the long awaited FINALE FINALE of AoT!!!!  It's hard to believe we're here, and WOW, that ending....!!!!!  I honestly didn't know which way this was gonna go, but I had a feeling that things would go this way with Eren.  Wow was it tough to watch though!!!  Mikasa's undying devotion, Eren's confession, the moments he had with both Mikasa and Armin, etc.  So I guess I was right when I guessed that he was doing all this to try and bring together both sides of humanity.  And I gotta say, it's always gonna be messy, there will ALWAYS be conflict, Titans or no Titans - but to a degree, it worked!  I'm still reeling from this one, there's so much to think about and probably so many hidden details, symbols, etc. that I'll probably pick up more on a rewatch.  But this is it - the culmination of our journey :')  Thank you all for joining me!!!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Eren: I want her to think of me for at least 10 years! Armin: Why 10 years? Eren: Because it is a Decade. Armin: And why a Decade? Eren: Because Decade is the Destroyer of the World. (Decade's theme intensify.)

What moments that were memorable from attack on Titan for me two of them were from Irwin when he tells everyone to charge forward even with his arm bitten off and when in season 3 when he says his soldiers rage (I'm pretty sure you've known but the VA for Irwin was jotaro and the VA for Zeke was dio) and also some thoughts came mind what armin didn't survive and they gave the serum to Irwin how much would everything change and the conversation between Eren and armin would different kind of impact, I'm just saying as an example and I get what the author was saying with the ending that the cycle of war is never really over but I also would liked it if all of erens efforts did have that big of an impact where there wasn't war again at the end also do you think that by that time people had forgotten that titans existed? And there aware of them but think it was just a legend from back then

OMG! I just find out! The baby's voice in the final episode of Attack on Titan is the voice of Eren's (Yuki Kaji) voice actor's 0-year-old child. He just let his child make his debut in voice acting since the very start of his life.

“Without sacrifice, there can be no victory.” That quote isn’t directly from this series, but it definitely applies. I saw an interesting post from the story’s original mangaka, the other day - he literally was apologizing to MAPPA for making a drawn out climax scene that he felt was almost impossible to animate. (It’s MAPPA, I think we can trust them. But now it makes a lot more sense why the final chapters took as long as they did to come out, doesn’t it?) The first thing I thought of during the scene, when it was revealed they were fighting previous versions of the Nine Titans, was every person fighting right now is trying to confront their past. Zeke asked Armin what the point to everything was when they were in the paths together, and at its core, it really is a zero sum game. Birth. Life. Death. But the things that define a life aren’t it’s start and end point, it’s the experienced and memories that tie to it. No life is exactly the same is another, that’s why it’s something to be protected. Eren really was a slave to freedom, in the end - because he felt it was his responsibility to shoulder the freedom of everyone else’s, at the cost of his own - and then there’s the whole genocidal process he put everyone through. I think the scene of the rumbling advancing on the crowd during the attack, and while people are all falling to their deaths, they do whatever they can to save one infant, is a metaphor - no matter how horrible or awful things can get, there is always a natural hope that the next iteration can be better and no faction or belief system is put into play without thought for the benefit of that next generation. My understanding of what happened at the end is this: at some points in time, prior to all this happening, Eren came to both Armin and Mikasa and informed him what would happen, even as far back as when they were kids. Because as the Attack Titan he experienced all the events from childhood to now at the same time. He told this to them, and then used the Power of the Titans to erase their memories. Regarding Ymir and the reasons why, well probably the easiest answer is none of us choose who we love. Not every relationship is a completely happy one - and Ymir was probably always a slave to her feelings, and loathed herself for it (probably not unlike the way Armin berates his body for not being able to do more.) As for what Mikasa did to free her, well, they’re kindred spirits. They’re both in love with men doing terrible things. Seems like Eren really wanted to find a way out but it sounds like he did the Dr. Strange thing and every thing he tried always came back with “this is the only way to solve this.” But he managed to set up the Founding Titan to be destroyed and to deliver the Power of the Titans from existence, which is why all the Eldians reverted. And with the power of memory suppression gone, Armin and Mikasa finally remembered everything they had been told. She wasn’t going to let go of that scarf, who was she fooling? But it doesn’t matter what period you live in, humans will always have conflict, and fear, and reprisal out of fear for their own lives. “If we fight, we live, if we lose, we die,” was the mentality. Even thousands of years after, the concept remains the same. Also, I think you misunderstood the burial scene during the credits - the scarf shown at the top of the screen implies Mikasa is being buried next to Eren after living a long life. Speaking of Mikasa, I think she’s probably the real “hero” of the story. There was a list of things I saw that I think is worth sharing about her, and it sums it up better than I can: - The first AoT character created by Isayama - Character design is based on a real life girl - Enters AoT > becomes Isayama’s signature - Belongs to both Ackermann and Oriental clans, the two bloodlines that opposed the king’s philosophy - Her Ackermann clan is feared by the monarchy because the king can’t control the Ackermann family - Is referred as “the girl worth a hundred soldiers,” “model cadet,” and “a genius of historically unprecedented significance” by her superiors - Humanity’s strongest female soldier, saves most of the AoT cast - Is personification of strength, love, pride, family and home - Uses her strength to protect the weak instead of becoming power drunk to feed on the weak - Represents one of the main themes of AoT: “Beauty in the cruel world” - Is royalty, but refuses the offer of taking advantage of her rank to escape the war: instead, fights for the cause she believes in - Isn’t a damsel in distress, can protect herself and others - Doesn’t join the Jaegerists (biggest cult dedicated to Eren) and refuses to become their leader like the boss she is - Is the centerpiece of AoT and the key to break the curse - Be ones the epitome of selflessness by sacrificing her most important person - Makes irl Jaegerists cry for the rest of their lives (10 years at least!) *this is a joke - Lives a long and happy life as Eren wanted for her - Leaves You can have Armin, I think Mikasa truly earned the moniker of being a “best girl” and perhaps the most important character in the story. We covered a lot of ground on this series, didn’t we? But life is complicated, and so are ending them. The ending was bittersweet, but I think at the end of the day, the whole point was to get the audience to think and look in the mirror. Who are we? Who were we? Who do we want to be?” And on that level, I believe Isayama succeeded. This whole story deserves one last salute. Shinzo wo Sasgeyo. 🫡 (Title of the S2 opening.)

Omg yes I was aware about the VAs, isn't that awesome! Those were such profound moments!! And I agree, the cycle will never be over but Eren really did have a huge affect on the outcome. That's true, there wasn't a war immediately and by the time there was, Titans were probably something of a myth like you said. It's a good lesson on why we should never forget our history, at the risk of it repeating itself!!!

kamenriderhime

That definitely applies! And wow haha, it's not everyday an author makes an apology like that lol, but I can totally see how that would be tough to animate. WHOA, you're so right about confronting the past, dang. SO well said - like it's not the destination but the journey in every way. Slave to freedom is the best way to put it for sure, it's evident in Eren's extreme actions that hurt so many all in the name of protecting the people he could. The symbolism in that scene with the baby was overwhelming, I agree that it was all about hope. Yeah it's not like Eren didn't explore other options, but really did have to Dr. Strange it in the end like you said. That clears up what happened with the talks with Armin and Mikasa for sure, that's what I figured but it took me a bit to catch on! For sure, Ymir's love story wasn't a happy one but it was love, same could be said for Mikasa. Ohhhh so it was destroying the Titan power that made them remember, got it! Yeah there's no way Mikasa was giving up the scarf! Also I noticed that after about the scarf too, that it was Mikasa laying there, oops. Dang, that's some strong reasoning for Mikasa being the hero of this story! That's so interesting and it adds up for sure. I think you're absolutely right, this series was PACKED with so much but at the end of the day, if the intention was to be thought provoking, it succeeded. Shinzo wo Sasgeyo :'D

Ok I just found this on tik tok and it's giving a great example what history repeating looks like and if this was part of it id believe it https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8Ac7V5U/

AoT was what brought me to your channel. So it’s good to see the ending with you. And I’m glad you took my advice with the tissues lol Eren had to out Lelouch Lelouch. He had to make himself the villain and push his friends to be the heroes so that they could have a chance to be happy. He knew peace couldn’t be an option but he sacrificed everything for them to have a chance at happiness. Eren and Mikasa may not have got their happily ever after, but at least Armin and Annie seemed to. The ending about Mikasa I feel like he left it ambiguous. If you want to believe she stayed faithful to Eren the rest of her life? It fits. If you want to believe she found happiness with someone else. Fits too. Even if it was Jean but I honestly doubt it because 1: he wouldn’t be able to stay close to the tree due to his status, it would put Mikasa in danger and 2: I reject that out of Horse Cart ship forever, they had way to much chemistry. The bird wrapping the scarf around her is a throw back to Eren’s promise to her at the end of season 2 also. And also what got me. Eren had his eyes closed the whole time. But when Mikasa came in he opened them one last time. And I don’t think it’s been an accident this whole season they really down graded Mikasa’s feminine looks. Not saying she didn’t look good but just was more tomboyish. But the last moment. Her reflecting in his eyes, that looked to me was her most beautiful. And that was the last thing Eren ever saw. That got me. Also some heart breaking detail. I looked up the translation of Eren’s gravestone. “Here forever, Rest in Peace, My Most Beloved, My Dear” And one more fun fact: the manga ran for 139 chapters. The anime ran for 13 years and 9 story arcs. The man is a mad genius. Thank you for sharing. And honey you torture yourself too much. You need to add some sweet happy stuff to your playlist lol!

I'm so happy you joined me for my AoT reactions!!! I'm glad I took your advice on the tissues too lol, this was an emotional one!!! Yeah I can see now that Eren was setting them up to be the heroes the whole time, even though peace/happiness in the future would look a lot different than what everyone expected. I'm glad that at least Armin and Annie got a happily ever after! I think you're right about Mikasa - you can infer what you want, but there's evidence if you wanna dig for it a bit. Love that about the scarf!!! OMG!!! I saw someone saying that about how beautiful she looked in Eren's eyes. And the way he opened them at the end....!!!! Awwww the gravestone :((((( WHOA!!!!! That's some mad genius stuff for real, how on earth did that manage to work out with the numbers lol! Haha thank you, I do indulge in way too much brutality on this channel don't I lol!!!! I'm happy to have things like Spy x Family at least!!!!! ^_^

Dusty V

Just saw you were into that one. Good choice. Gotta catch myself both your reactions and season 2 in general. Life is being life lol

kamenriderhime

I hear you, life is like that sometimes lol! It's a great show and it's been really fun this season!
