Hey everyone!  Here it is - my reaction to episode 16 of Kamen Rider Gotchard!  WOW you guys, lots going on in this one, with our crew getting petrified, giant snake beasties, and a new Rider?!?!?!
Like I'm pretty sure that wasn't Spanner?!?!!?  Also, speaking of Spanner, we get to meet his mentor.  I've gotta say, they don't seem shady now that I'm seeing them in action!  But Glion on the other hand, seems pretty evil!  We finally get to put a face to the name, and is it just me or does he look like he's wearing an alchemist's outfit?!  So many questions!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Introducing Rengoku Kyōjurō, staring as the new mysterious rider: Kamen Rider Gotchard Daybreak! I mean... it's not a VA thing, but look at his look! It's definitely the pillar of flame! Anyway, there're no Gotchard next week, so you might want to take this oppotunity to fill up any movie you have never seen. Like Saber x Zenkaiger maybe? Or Revice x Saber: Beyond Generation? Oh! How could I forget? Kamen Rider Geats: 4 Aces and the black fox!

Hi Hime :) A bit of a spoiler which isn't one since it's implied in this episode, Rinne can transform into Kamen Rider and is considered the secondary rider of this season (the first female secondary rider yeah). She uses Unicorn and Sun to transform and these are precisely the two cards that we see with her in this episode, she should appear in the series shortly. I seem to have heard that she will appear in the opening of the next episode. It's still funny that she is the secondary rider thanks to the film, where she appears for the first time, whereas if we just follow the series, we have Dread and the other Gotchard (called Daybreak), who appears before her. Gotchard Daybreak is not Spanner, he was petrified with Rinne during the Hotaro fight. Spanner will actually have his rider form later as they work on his belt, and without spoiling too much, he will of course use Madwheel for his hensin, so his look won't be too different from his current form. The name Geryon comes from a Greek mythological giant, it is said that he had three heads or that he was in fact three brothers. Which works with the idea of the abyssal sisters who are also three. But I would see either Geryon being an amalgam of three souls, or being the brother of another character. The fact that we have a scene with Geryon, Minato and Gotchard Daybreak one after the other at the end would let me try the idea of three brothers here too. Even if we don't yet know much about Daybreak, some think of the famous alchemist whose story Rinne's father told her about. This alchemist being known as "the alchemist of the dawn" and this new Gotchard being Daybreak, you see the connection. So, Fuga Kudo in Kamen Rider Daybreak, Minato sensei and Master Geryon as brothers ? Maybe. So yes, once again my brain is working to try to guess what the storyline of this season of Kamen Rider has in store for us lol.

SLIGHT correction for you: this episode aired on Christmas Eve, so this is, for all intensive purposes, the Christmas episode. :) Looks like everyone is busy working for the holidays, doing something - I guess you can’t be a Kamen Rider to pay the bills, unfortunately. Kyoka seems to be the one who’s been giving Spanner “instructions,” and she’s working on a new driver for him at the request of the Alchemy Association (should we just call it AA?), but to what end? Also, I’m not sure what her goal is but she dies kinda feel looks she might be the tech person for this series if she’s doing all this - Revice had a similar kind of role, but my mind is blanking on his name at this time - you know who I mean. Rinne is a pretty strong individual, but she is no match for Hotaro’s puppy dog face. 😂 Also, I think his mom is pretty okay with where this relationship is developing. I see you being sneaky over there. Since it’s the Christmas episode, I guess they decided to go ahead and petrify 95% of the cast, but we kept bells on the snake’s neck so you’d know what holiday it is! Ho Ho Ho! Apparently Lachesis was transformed into a Malgam against her own will, and then - power boosted by her master to make this happen? He also said it was an experiment. The subtitles have referred to him as Glion previously, this time it said Geryon - but I still heard Glion. Either way, I think it’s safe to assume both names refer to the same individual, and no, we haven’t seen him before. Okay, I have to turn your brain around for just a minute: the Flame version of Git hard, that is absolutely, 100, ten billion percent, not Spanner. Maybe Buffy’s guest appearance distracted you somewhat, but Spanner and Rinne were both petrified before Flame Gotchard showed up. I have two theories: one, it’s Hotaro from the future with all of the Chemies and upgraded Drivers - this seems like it might be a bit of a stretch, but well, Zi-O exists, so time traveling to yourself is a thing. The more plausible theory I have, given what we have for information, is that the identity of the Flame Gotchard is quite possibly Hotaro’s father. It makes too much sense between him knowing Hopper when he was a kid, the mystery, and why they keep hiding his face in the portrait. I mean, it seems a bit too in the face to be anything else. That’s my theorycrafting for this week - also the schedule had said straight through to episode 50, but if they’re taking a week off, maybe it’s a good time to search out that movie? I believe the Geats x Gotchard crossover is out as well, but it’s probably not available yet. PS: Speaking of movies, we still gotta find a place for the Slime one prior to April, as well as the Ova Set. Too much to keep track of, isn’t there? 😂

IDK what it is about flames but they make everything cooler. 🔥 A snake going around petrifying people? Is that supposed to be a Harry Potter reference or something? I also thought that thing was way too big to be a malgam. Was Lachesis being mind-controlled and running that thing the reason it was so big or am I reading too much into that? I mean some legendary Pokemon are huge so it could just be big naturally. Wait does that apply here? 🤔

Spanner will use the device shown at the end to become a rider version of valvarad. The flame gotchard is someone we don't know yet. And rinne during the geats x gotchard movie became a rider with the sun and unicorn cards. It seems here sun unicorn form shall continue to appear in the show. The flame gotchard could be rinne's father. It's strongly hinted that he is alive somewhere?

Hi Spadeas! :) Ohhhh wow, no kidding! That's awesome! I'd heard there was some stuff from the film that would show up. Ok cool, thanks for clearing that up, I must have missed and/or forgotten that he was petrified, sorry! I can't wait to see Spanner's Rider! Interesting about the background of Geryon and the possible theory! I can definitely see a connection with Daybreak, I'm curious as to where they take it all. Brothers??? Hmmmm a possibility! I love reading your theories, keep them coming lol!!!

Christmas Eve ep then, sorry! :P Yeah, Kamen Riders have to have side jobs I guess haha. AA is nice and short even though the acronym is already kinda taken lol. Omg Kyoka could totally be our George! LOL no one can resist the puppy dog face! It was nice of them to put the festive bells on the snakes for the Christmas ep LOL. Oh sorry, I guess I missed and/or forgot that Spanner was petrified :P Future Hotaro would be a cool possibility! Hotaro's dad or Rinne's dad seem like the leading theories. I'd love to check out one of the movies but I'll probably have to stick to something episode-length if I do anything to replace this week's ep! I haven't forgotten about the Slime OVA! Maybe in March or early April :)
