as summer approaches, the warmer weather has inspired me to make art that reflects my love for the season's energy and light. I tapped into one of my longstanding favorites, Hatsune Miku herself, to channel those fun and lively characteristics. paired with graphic design and art styles I grew up with, I created a set of artworks that capture a bright mood that sings with color.

above: if you grew up in the mid-aughts, you are well familiar with the graphic design styles now known as frutiger metro and superflat. plastered across promotional items, technology, and toys, these styles are strongly associated with my adolescence and bring up memories of music, playfulness, and a certain kind of tech-optimism. I thought it'd fit well with Miku, herself a piece of technology that has transcended function and expanded to explore a variety of concepts and creations. I had a lot of fun experimenting with a style that is graphic design heavy, which features rarely in my illustrative inclinations.

and this month's sticker! I love the art style of Pop'n Music and thought it'd fit perfectly with this bubbly theme. I think this lil' chibi Miku captures her cheery idol personality to a T. (≧▽≦)/
