It's official- we're going to open a handful of commission tiers here in Patreon.

On March 27th between 6-9pm EST, I'll post three new Tiers for backers:

$85:  (3 available)  Pinup Pose Sketch.

$100 (2 available) Lineart Character Drawing.

$300 (1 available) Full color illustration.

Below are the details, limitations, and reference instructions for art in these tiers.

Details:

Pinup Pose Sketch:

We'll sketch one Dreamkeepers canon character in a pinup-style line drawing.  You choose which character, and we'll formulate the posing and such.  Upon completion we'll mail you the original pencil art.  There's a possibility we'll eventually compile these illustrations into a book-format art collection.

Lineart Character:

We'll draw or design a character of your choice.  Could be fanart for an existing franchise, or an original character.  No backgrounds, it's pencil lineart of just a single character, and we'll mail you the original pencil art.  Backers who have this Tier for a second month may choose a second line drawing, or have us color their drawing from last month.

Full Color Illustration:  At this level, it's a full-on color commission with multiple characters, crazy backgrounds, and whatever else the backer would like.  Original pencils mailed to the backer.

Limitations:

We begin work after the funds clear every month.

We may disable these tiers periodically to ensure our workload is sustainable.  The tiers are listed here at their starting cost, and may fluctuate as dictated by supply and demand.

There are limits on what we wish to draw- some are laid out below.  If you're uncertain feel free to ask, and if for some reason we decline to draw a certain idea, we'll give that backer an immediate full refund of what they paid for it, no hard feelings.

Rating Level:

We depict Dreamkeepers characters within the general rating level and spirit of the series.  "What if" scenarios with canon characters are possible, we're not enforcing story continuity here. But we might decline something if it depicts the cast members in a manner that negatively impacts the series. (This is vague, because no matter how exhaustive the list, the internet can always find an exception.) Some illustrations may be mildly suggestive or titillating (see: pinup poses) but no explicit sex acts, and no full frontal nudity.

Regarding rating level for non-Dreamkeepers characters, we're open to some adult content.  If you're uncertain of a particular idea, feel free to message and ask in advance.

Reference Instructions:

We determine details on the Pinup Pose drawings.

Lineart character, the backer sends up to two reference images, and / or a one page description.

Full Commission, limit five reference images, and a three page description.

We'll adhere to the references and descriptions as best we can, but we don't rework illustrations for details or variances that were not included in the references and description.

And we want to share the art with all the backers, and eventually everyone- so let us know if something is supposed to remain secret, because otherwise it'll be shared!

Drop any questions in the comments and I'll try my best to address them.

Mmm if I had the cash I'd go for either full color ill of Mace and Lilith doing something cute and romantic like sharing a kiss somewhere beautiful or a full color titillating pool or hot springs scene with several of the female cast in rather skimpy bikinis or skinny dipping, without full frontal nudity of course. Curious to see what the people will ask for.

For the pin ups could we request a little emphasis on something like hips and do you think there's the possibility you could put a cutesy thank you note on them as a finishing touch? It'd be very interesting if you did compile them into a themed artbook, you know us fans all too well!

Shaun Albert

By mail do you mean email?

Tim

Does the full illustration have to be DK related, or could it be about anything?

Garrett Simpson

Whatever you want the Davester to draw! Though naturally he draws our anthros the best his humans aren't too bad and he enjoys a challenge

Tyler Crandall

And the race for full color illustration is on!

Tango

How will this impact any older commission projects you're working on?

Dreamkeepers

Backers at that level can make suggestions and such, but I don't want to promise anything. There might be a situation where I have some pinups drawn in advance, so I'm not certain I can accommodate input for the Pinup Pose every time.

Dreamkeepers

Post office mail. You could snag the image on Patreon, and then we'd mail the physical paper and pencil drawing to that backer.

Dreamkeepers

The full illustration doesn't have to be DK related- it could be a life-based portrait, art based on popular media characters, original characters, pretty much anything.

We have what I call the "Big Commission Queue" from 2011. I'm still working through those at the same rate- roughly one per month, so wait time will not change for people in the BCQ. I'm also in touch with them via e-mail, so they can now switch their BCQ slot for an immediate Patreon drawing of equal value, or if they're tired of waiting, we also offer refunds. So far 99.9% of people on the list have opted to keep their slot! They're a stalwart bunch.

Garrett Simpson

By having some done in advance do you mean doing a few of the staple characters you highly suspect people will choose before we pick?

Tyler Crandall

You would have to make sure to snag that slot tomorrow by upgrading your pledge.

Tyler Crandall

Read the top part of the post, there will be 3 new pledges specifically for art commissions. It's not up right now, but it'll be up at 6 PM EST TImezone.

WDG

Would the pinup tier include Wayward Astronomer characters?

Shocken

I may consider it this time around. I have one OC in the corresponding art style for the universe he's in. So I'd love to see the same for this one!

(This is a question I've sent to you via Twitter DM) Hey Dave, why is the ref limit for the $300 full-color commission slot set to just five? I have this comm idea of the main cast being on a road trip with cars that match their characters, but a big part for it to make it work is by having a ton of references of the cars and setting. Is there any possibility of you making a compromise to increase the ref limit, or is it already set-in-stone?
