I have been hunting for waterbears for ages and can't find them. Wondering if i'm looking in the wrong place. Been picking moss off of trees in my local forest. Anything I should look for in particular?

This may have been asked before, but what is the bare minimum equipment a complete novice would need to dip their toe into this? I have a little photo slide viewer that magnifies 8x, and even that has opened a whole world of discovery. What degree of magnification qualifies as "microscopic", revealing the world of microbes to a novice? (The other side of this question: are there ethical or other environmental concerns we should be aware of before we go collecting samples?) Thank you!

I ADORE Journey to the Microcosmos. I get so much inspiration for my artwork from the episodes. Who decides the topic for each episode and who does the science research? I have tried collecting specimens from water from a nearby pond where algae accumulates but have found solely water and bits of algae, but no protozoans or other recognizable organisms . Do I just need to keep looking and practice patiene?

!!! Daniel is #1 !!!

Why is Daniel is #1 your most attractive patron? Jkjk are there any plans to collect microbes from geysers in Yellowstone?
