JC

"bro what is this song 🥹" during defying gravity is so real 😂 Great reaction, this was my fifth time seeing this movie lol, loved it Out of curiosity, are you guys reacting to the upcoming season of Harley Quinn?

Hades

OMG IM SO EXITED TO WATCH THIS WJTH YOU GUYS!!!!

Cody Price

I thought script was very clever in the dialogue foreshadowing things to come without giving it away to people who have not seen the play, but a nice Easter egg that have already seen it. Can’t say more without given away spoilers for Part 2, which I am not going to do.

Anthony Velasquez

While you guys are on this musical kick anyway you guys will check out In the Heights at some point? Jon Chu actually directed In the Heights movie as well

PrincessHeroLuvr

Exactly what I was going to say. They loved Crazy Rich Asians too (another Jon Chu movie)

Jules R

Yes! Thank you so much for posting, been waiting to buy the digital till this reaction! Loved this movie so much, definitely in my top 5 musicals of all time personally! Have seen it 3 times so far in the theatre, such a spectacular movie. I might actually go see it again today after watching it with you guys, your emotional responses to this are the same I feel every time I watch it!

Arcannabist

Fun facts! 1- Jonathan Bailey was recording 3 movies/shows at once! Bridgerton, Wicked, and Fellow travelers. 2- they practically built a whooooole bunch of the sets. Jon Chu wanted the world to feel lived in (pics of the sets are gorgeous!) 3- The shoes were silver in the original story. MGM made them ruby in the movie to make them pop since it was in color. Since MGM has a copyright on ruby slippers, this movie paid homage by presenting them in a ruby crested case (and by the red pair Galinda had in Popular)

Thank you for this! The catharsis was needed, and I can attest that this movie was just as amazing on the third watch. Still cried like a baby. Stay safe and well. Fellow SoCal resident here (not close to any of the fires), hoping you’re getting by okay and asking for help when you need it. 🫶🏼

Hey folks! Might be urgent (depending on whether you think it is) but you can access this one for free by copying the link in the post. I tried it and it worked (but then I paid because 1. I wanted to tell you and 2. Stealing. 😉 ) You may want to nudge that link down a bit in the post so it stays hidden!!

Arlene Dorrough

I just loved this! Thank you for posting and giving me my musical fix!

Andrew James

Im confused. I understand YouTube, but Why is the video censored on here?

Carlos Salazar

It doesn't matter how many times I watch the Ozdust scene, it always makes me cry.

thereelrejects

If you mean why isn't the video showing it's because we still can't put a whole movie on here. We've seen creators get shut down for it.... It's why we stress syncing up with your own copy! - PLD

I heard Defying Gravity many times on Glee but it hits different in this. My favorite song/dance is Dancing Through Life. I have now watched this 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Ariana was hilarious in this, I hope she does more acting besides SNL. Bit of a nitpick, I don't like her as a blonde. I think the main problem is the eyebrows are too close to her skin tone, it makes her eyes look darker almost black. I felt the same about Chris Hemsworth in Thor, he looked a little weird but they fixed it for The Avengers.

Greg, I'm also a vegetarian and I'm not the type to push it on to others. I was getting a little too angry the first time I watched this. I enjoyed it more the second, third time. Now I love the movie and I'm excited for part 2.

thereelrejects

You should look up the Kerry Ellis (who played Elphaba in the West End production) and Brian May (guitarist from Queen)'s version! It rocks! - PLD

Kristen

I resubscribed to watch this full reaction, yall never disappoint 🥹🥹

Thurein Minhtet

If the Wicked Witch's weakness is water then how does she even shower???

James T Williams

pure water can melt her, so I would assume that lake water having impurities or whatever is safe enough. (just talking out my ass, who knows)

James T Williams

I have been a Wicked fan since 2007, I have seen the play on broadway 3 times and have actually read the book. I was SO concerned with the casting since I was never big on Ariana and just thought she was cast for one of the "big names" because I forgot she ever started as an actress. I got to watch this in IMAX and for me, I find it an easy 10/10 and my favorite movie in all of 2024. I loved the respect they had for the fact that it was a huge broadway play and had the set portray that. I am so excited for Wicked: For Good in November. Idina and Kristen being included was amazing as they each interact with their own counterpart and it feels like a passing of the torch.

Hannah Saadallah

Yall's reaction is definitely the best I've seen so far! I'm not sure if someone has said this before, but they sang live on set! In the end, when Cynthia is being flung around on wires for her flying scene, she is singing defying gravity live! Also, in the Emerald City scene, the woman that says "he must be a wizard" wrote the musical and co-wrote the movie and the man that says "the wizard will see you now" wrote the music!

Hannah Saadallah

Also I've gotta shout out another youtuber who has made great vids on the history of this show and Wizard of Oz! Kaz Rowe made a very comprehensive video on the absolutely wild and dangerous time filming the original 30's wizard of oz (people almost died many times) and she also made a video on the queer history of thew franchise way before and after wicked! Many people (including me and the author of the wicked book) think Glinda and Elphaba are an amazing enemies to lovers couple. To me (a queer person lol) I'm glad yall picked up a bit on their love. There is actually a deleted scene where Galinda confronts Elphie about rescuing the lion with fiyero. She doesn't seem upset at all that they flirted, what she says is "You could've brought me with you, bring me with you next time".

toni 💗

I’m not sure if anyone has commented and you all probably already know now but Cynthia is classically trained! She’s been in tons of productions but people probably know her because she was in the revival of The Color Purple. She played Celie and she even won a Tony for the role (go check out her performance on I’m Here it’s magical!). Also more on Ariana’s backstory with wicked. It’s one of her favorite musicals and she has wanted to play Glinda all of her life. Covered the songs a bunch before and Kristin Chenoweth (original Glinda on Broadway) has been her mentor since she was young. Ari also did theatre at a very young age so she has a theatre background as well. Sorry for the long comment but thought it would nice for y’all to know a little more backstory! Enjoyed this reaction so much 🫶🏾
