Have you guys watched LOVE STORY? That's probably my favorite depiction of love in cinema. Carrie Fisher in When Harry Met Sally... Cameron Diaz in There's Something About Mary Reality vs Fantasy in 500 Days of Summer All of Jennifer Lawrence in Silver Lining Playbook The egg joke in Annie Hall

Teanna H.

Richard Linklater’s Before films are easily some of my favorite romantic movies.

You're welcome guys. There are a lot of romantic scenes in movies I love, but I'll focus on one. In Dragonslayer, there's a scene with Valerian and Galen. Valerian has just given Galen the shield she made for him of dragon scales to keep him safe. She tells him she's convinced he's going to die, the dragon attacks will continue, and she'll be sacrificed and killed because it's discovered she's a woman and not a man. Valerian admits to Galen that Princess Ellsbeth is very beautiful and that she understands why Galen is in love with her. Galen responds that he is in love, but not with the princess. Then Galen kisses Valerian. The camera pulls back showing them alone together on the mountain. That's one of my favorites. Will have to rent American Graffiti. Haven't seen it before.

Oooh, not yet! We'll add it to our list, though. I keep hoping that, at some point, I can sit down and come up with a sort of curriculum or whatever of different movies I/we ought'a catch up on and this question's got me thinking that a romance unit might be a good idea haha. You always got good picks, though, man. We'll have to add a movie night or somethin' like that the next time you're in town!

Yessss! I love those movies so much. Definitely due for a revisit haha. Glad I'm not the only one!!

Oh damn.. I don't think either of us has seen Dragonslayer (which we'll have to remedy at some point), but just reading your description here, I can definitely tell why it's one of your favorites. Sounds like a pretty beautiful moment! And definitely recommend going back to check out American Graffiti. '70s classic and definitely one of the better George Lucas joints out there haha.

I like to use Letterboxd. This is my page. You can just go to all films, highest rated, and then hide everything you've seen and it creates a pretty great to-watch list. https://letterboxd.com/jdolan74/

Will do guys. Dragonslayer came out in 1981. Good mix of practical effects and special effects.
