What. An. Episode. I'd completely forgotten how intense, cinematic, well-written and well-paced this ep is before I rewatched it today. It's fascinating how awesome animes like Death Note can fit plenty of great story beats and high-quality action set pieces in 20 mins. It's MAD! I've seen Death Note maybe 3-4 times already and my heart still pounded like crazy.

This felt like return to form for death note, after some meandering episodes . The tension and atmosphere was just so well done , And especially the characters, they looked really good, very pronounced and dark shading on them looked nice . I also think the switch how Light was once he got death note and once he lost memory is a bit jarring for me personally , i wish it was slightly more beleivable or at least a lot more subtle in his personality change , but I guess they wanted to make it super obvious .

I know, right?? When I first started the show, I was pretty blown away by how quickly it moves. They waste no time in developing things and putting those developments through the wringer. Such a good episode, though. Another one of those ones that feels like you're watching the craziest gritty crime movie.

I knooooow haha, I'm nervous!! It's way too early for a victory of this magnitude to last for long 😅😰can only imagine it's gonna get more twisted before we're done here.. Aaaand I'm glad you appreciate the headbanging lol. It is both a cheeky joke and a legitimate compulsion.

2021-07-15 04:57:51 Yeah, I feel ya. And I can only imagine this little victory is going to implode somehow in the near future 😅😰but yeah, this definitely felt like a stand-out episode. Really cinematic & good call with the details in the animation - such menace!! Can see where you're coming from re: Light. I'd be curious to return to the first ep. for a few glimpses of pre-note Light (what few of them there are), just to better note the contrast. I think the saving grace for me is that he's so amusingly un-Kira in this form. Which makes me wonder if he were to touch the note again, would KiraLight return to form, or would he be slightly different given the memory stuff? (Although in the back of my mind, I just keep waiting for the shoe to drop, because I'm sure Light had some kind of contingency plan for this. Needless to say, glad things feel like they're accelerating again. Was alright with the lull, because it felt like a natural aspect of a prolonged case like this, but it does feel like a mild detour to set up this next part. Psyched to continue as always. Another one shooting today!!
