BTW netflix only has the first 58 episodes of 148

I'm pretty sure the butler was legit playing the coin game fairly up until the last time. He was trying to teach a Gon a lesson i'm sure Edgaras or someone will explain it.

The point of the game was to test Gon and the gang. It was not rigged until the very last moment. The way I interpreted , was that the butler just wanted to see if Gon qualifies to be a friend for killua. In his own little way thats what he did, I am sure the threats were real too. IDK if you noticed but Killua is very sheltered kid , in a very roundabout way, Everyone cares for him a lot , in their own peculiar ways . Well maybe except the fat brother.lol A lot of time the main cast always stay together no matter what, I thought it was refreshing to see that Kurapika and Leorio live their own lives and need to do stuff outside of main protaginist . Hisoka told Kurapika about the Phantom Troupe that they gonna be in Yorknew City on septmeber 1st . And reason for it was the biggest auction of the year. So Kurapika needs to get employed to get to the auction n stuff. Overall I thought the first season was really solid ,lots of set ups and character focus . And I would also agree that Gons and Killuas dynamic is probably my favorite part of the show. Like the show its not gonna blow your mind with insane production values or fantastic action set pieces. But the character writing is second to none and more tactical approach to fights is also welcome . If you are invested in the main characters already , then its gonna be much easier to enjoy this show without waiting for something to click . As for the next arc. Greg was joking about notes ... Lets just say you might actually need that ..

Ooh, appreciate the heads-up! When we get to that bridge, we'll figure something out. I think the rest is on Crunchyroll (which we don't have atm), so unless Netflix gets more episodes, perhaps we'll go there or somethin'.

Haha Edgaras always holdin' down the fort and keeping us up to speed. That was the impression we both got while the actual challenge was unfolding. I think we got confused in the explanation afterwards 😅

2021-07-15 04:56:49 Ahhh okay, good haha, because that was the general sense we were getting (...up until we got confused, of course 😅). I think we're going to start judging the quality of our friendships this way as well 😝 Good to know about the notes, though.. Now that we're onto season 2, perhaps we'll start taking a few just to keep everything in order. I hadn't exactly thought of Killua as being sheltered (I think it's easy to overlook that, given his deadly power), but the more I think back on the interactions with his various family members & everything, I can start to see it. Kinda funny how even a family of lethal, cutthroat assassins could be that way (except, of course, the fat brother as you pointed out). But yeah, overall I think we both really appreciated the arc of this season and the sensibility of the show once we really got used to it. And it's nice that it's not focused on the same types of crazy action set-pieces and things like that, because we already get a decent helping of that with our other anime series. And it's cool, too, to be able to have a sorta cyclical cast of characters, people checking in and out of the main plot kinda like they might in life. Excited to see where it all heads during season 2, but again - really appreciate you watching along & keeping us up on the details haha. See ya tomorrow for the next one!!!

I'm just glad you guys are enjoying it. Since a lot of people drop the show after first 10 episodes or so. And it's easy to see why it would not hook you immediately, especially if you're used to more modern approach to anime.

Toasted Toad

Interesting. I don't watch much anime but I was hooked from the start because the characters were so engaging.
