Do you think Mello is more of a milk chocolate or dark chocolate guy?LOL I did like the whole riot thing, but even more with money falling from the sky. I think it shows the outlook on humanity as a whole from Near and Mellos perpective , that they have much more pessimistic view and thats why the plan worked, I dont think L would have done it like that, even tho hes a lot more briliant, I also think hes hopeful and think better of people and these two, And I think partially thats what got him Killed. The Aizava at home scene, it was really nice, tho me watching hundreds of anime, all I saw is a obviously telegraphed death flag, hahah. The Misa thing , some of the angles are a bit suspect . Show is doing that more and more i feel, I wonder if its even worse in manga, since usually everything thats shown in anime shows are more mellow compared to manga imagery. And lastly , the new guy intro, I liked his visual thing , its flashy dumb but it works., Im not sure I like it as a plot beat, it just felt Light took thins one outta nowhere and it felt a bit like lazy writing to me. If there was foreshadowing about this new guy early on, just few hints establishing anything , i would have felt better about it . But now idk , seems like a quick fix

2021-07-15 04:55:07 LOL I definitely have Mello pegged as a milk chocolate kinda guy 😂 Love that point re: the riot & the cash geyser. Should’a unpacked that more in the talk portion, but I thought it was pretty inspired; and yes, a rather cynical solution, but... damned if it didn’t work like a charm. Very curious to see what L might have done with a situation like that as I suspect you’re probably right. L seemed to have a certain amount of innate compassion & humanity where Near & Mello seem more shrewd in their own ways. It’s sad, but I could imagine that hopeful/compassionate quality being part of his undoing. Still hurting over that haha. To the Aizawa scene, I’m just gonna pretend you didn’t say that and go on hoping it was just a nice character beat lol (even though I’d imagine you’re proooobably right 😅😭). I could imagine the angular stuff being that much more intense in the manga. That last shot of Misa had me especially curious as to what’s going on with her. Does seem like there’s more to her role in this part than is being let on.. Aaaand I feel ya haha. It’s a cool visual & mood, but new guy’s also alone, so he’s performing for no one lol. As for the writing side, the surprise & explanation I thought were cool, although sitting with the episode for a couple days, I feel like it would’ve been more effective to see him periodically on news broadcasts or something. That way he could be a small detail that becomes hugely significant rather than a total surprise. Although, it seems within Light’s character to have contingency plans out the wazoo, so at the same time I guess I don’t feel like it’s altogether implausible. But then again, I’ve only just met him, so we’ll se where this goes... 😅
