The actresses name is Nisha Nayar, I’d say her most notable role is Elaine the pain in Tracy beaker, but she’s been in a lot of bbc productions so I don’t know which one you’ll know her from. John Barrowman is Scottish, he’s from Glasgow. If I remember correctly he lived in America for a while as a child/teen so picked up the accent which is why a lot of people think he’s American but if you watch interviews with him or just shows where he is himself he speaks with a thick Scottish accent 👌🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

That link is a video where he explains why he does the American accent and you get to hear the Scottish accent 👌

I was going to answer your questions re John, but I see Ryan got there before me! Loved your reaction to Rose's 'death'. They completely had you going. No, the Doctor would not have been able to just go back and rescue her. He can't cross his own timeline. He was there when she died and he saw it. It he goes back and saves her that's a paradox (and you saw what happened with Rose's paradox when she saved her father). He can't change his personal experience. I love this episode. Some of your questions will be answered in the next episode, so I won't go into them. I doubt rights to the Weakest Link were a problem, as they are both BBC Products, but your guess was right - Anne Robinson did do the voice for the Anne-Droid. Looking forward to the finale!

John Barrowman is Scottish but moved to America when he was 8. He purposely learned an American accent after a couple years because he got bullied for his Scottish accent. He can slip back into it if he chooses it and only speaks in a Scottish accent with his family, but 90% of the time has an American accent. He acted and lived in Britain for a large chuck of his career. He and his husband of like 10(?) years have homes in California, England, and Wales (where DW and Torchwood film) Barrowman’s actual a Broadway and West End star before acting in TV and has an amazing voice and is an author as well. ...he’s also pretty much the same person as his character Jack 😂😂😂 Basically a fucking legend, unstoppable flirt, and dashing king of the nerds. He also is friends with Misha Collins and SPN cast and said he would guest star at the drop of a hat. They wouldn’t even have to pay him if they got him a shirtless scene with Jensen and or Jared 😝

Yes please to that last sentence.

The Big Brother in this used the same music and presenter (Davina Mcall) as the actual British version of the show at the time. Not a BBC show though so i'm surprised they were able to use the copyright. She uses specific phrases used when meeting eliminated housemates like, "We're coming to GET you!". The Fashion show Jack was stuck in was also based on a British show called "What Not To Wear", with the voices of Trinny and Suzannah for their respected robots. John Barrowman (Captain Jack) is actually Scottish but mostly grew up in America, adopting the accent to avoid bullying and has now become his natural accent. He's gone on record as saying he owes a lot of his career to Doctor Who as it helped him get more roles on The West End (London's version of Broadway) as well as television roles in America like Desperate Housewives, Zero Dark Thirty and join the Arrowverse shows.

2021-07-15 04:45:56 ive actually been back to work these past few weeks so ive had much less time to leave comments, but i will still try! this is such a fun, penultimate episode! im glad you guys continue to like jack so much, hes such a fun character, like "do i look like an out of bounds sorta guy" is so funny lol. i remember when i first watched this ep as like a middle schooler, the doctors response to the daleks threat just being "no." ?? just blew my mind haha. just his absolute refusal to play by their rules is so awesome. (and i dont think theyd be able to go back in time and "save" rose, thatd be going back on their own timeline, theyd run into themselves, itd be a disaster a la the fathers day episode lol. plus from a story point of view, it might be a bit too easy for the characters to solve all their problems that way? idk)

Your definitely correct with the Father’s Day comparison, it definitely serves as a good in universe explanation for why the doctor can’t just easy fix things with time travel, otherwise there wouldn’t be any consequences. And I agree with the Doctor just flat out refusing being a “wait what the fuck is happening right now” moment for younger me watching this the first time 😂
