The tone shifts and different focus between arcs/seasons is one of the more liked things about the show afaik. And you are right about Gon /Killua stuff in contrast to Kurapikas revenge tale . Tho I do feel in this ep the show started to tying back Gon's stuff to phantom troupe and Kurapika. It also was clearly a set up ep, then again i liked the small interactions between phantom troupe , it portrayed them more like characters that care for each other rather than stone cold one note bad guys. This ep was not as strong as last few , just due to nature of the show of peaks and valleys . As for show being more sturctured for binge , i agree, but a lot of older shows has hundreds of episodes that dont take seasonal breaks . With HxH its more obvious since it relies on more traditional serialised narrative structure and tighter pacing due to amount of episodes. Something like dragon ball Z or naruto has a lot of useless filler that ruins the pacing .
