What would super taste as a superpower do ? lol Also how do you feel about Nezuko as a character in this show? You talked about it , but like her cuteness and all is all there is to her right now, to me it felt like they downgraded her personality from first ep when she was still human to something of a pet right now and it really bugs me , cause theres no explation why she acts the way she acts that way , like idk if there was a line that demon like creatures have lesser ways of communitcate then i would be okay with that. But we saw time and time again how other demons converse and speak, and i just feel so far its such a lost opportunity to have Nezuko and Tanjiro dynamic be like it is right now . Also i dont want to dunk on Demon slayer or genre itself, but i think you noticed with MHA , Demon slayer and to lesser extent HxH and FMA brotherhood that its very hard to do intensity and just overall dramatic engagement non stop , its mainly because its still aimed at kids and young teens . Demon slayer pushes the gore factor and disturbing imagery more than most , but also they play up the comedy and light heartedness quite a lot , other shows too. Partially it relates because of our main characters , but mainly its because its target demographic and just generally how these kind of shows are done . I dont personally like it , but im a grown man its not really trying cater to me , lmao. As for ep itself , i liked the concept of it and as usual the visuals and music were fantastic . But i thought the three demons were comical and pose no threat, they just looked lame to me and exaggerated to a point they I could not sense any tension. I def agree with you on this ep. The only thing that was done really well was stalking that one girls before she went to sleep and snatching her, it reminded me of Nightmare on elm street, hahah .

2021-07-15 04:41:09 It'd be a very impractical power lol. By my estimation, the only way you'd get any sleuthing done is by licking a lot of stuff 😅 lol. And that's what that series was trying to explore!!! Definitely feel some of that re: Nezuko.. I feel like some of the initial glow of their relationship & the overall circumstances is still there for me - I enjoy watching her - but right now, it seems like they're making her impact out of a lack of screen-presence more than actual context 😅 And while I respect them wanting to keep the nature of her.. state-of-being.. a bit of a mystery, it does feel (at the moment) sorta like a.. half/not-quite issue anymore? The sleep/hypnotism angle is neat, but I guess I would've expected Nezuko to be a pretty solid driver of conflict, stakes, etc. But yeah, right now she does feel more like a pet with an illness than a truly volatile presence I'm worried for/by. It's cool to watch her kick ass & be the silent type, but it also feels like a bit of an oversight on the show's part (at least from here). Y'know, it's funny hopping onto this right after TPN, partly because even though TPN's still shounen, I feel like it cut down on the laggier stuff by being so compact, if that makes sense? Cuz yeah haha, especially given the demographic (which I gotta remind myself of periodically - especially with the heightened gore), it makes sense to wanna get fun & whimsical/mitigate the intensity on a relatively consistent basis. Thinking back, I feel like Fullmetal may have had the best grip on that for me so far - even when they jumped to a slower or less-intense episode, oftentimes, I feel like they still managed to use those episodes in interesting ways... then again, you also weren't as bound to Ed & Al solely.. I take it the more mature classifications of anime tend to be more tonally consistent? I did get a kick out of the demons' dialogue in this one - it's silly, but for whatever reason the whole "calm down, ME" dynamic tickled me a bit. But yeah, the bed scene was easily the eeriest. Definitely some Freddy vibes there haha, good call! Nice centerpiece for the episode. Here's hoping the next one hits more of the sweet-spot :)

I totally forgot about TPN. Actually that show handled tone and humor a lot better. Mainly cause it was a lot shorter so less wasted filler and it was not as typical shounen like MHA , Demons slayer. It was more of a mistery /horror /heist thing instead of action/battle type of shonen. Also I think the humor /levity vs tonal consistency is the most jarring in shonen cause they go for both sides of extremes and humor is usually always slapstick kinda approach . Romance . slice of life and those kinda shows has humor but its a lot more natural and it fits non hyper violent non hyper heightened atmosphere of these shows . Seinen like Berserk, Vinland Saga, Monster, Fate zero, Psyho Pass to name a few have it very minimal amount in comparison and those shows really dont do faces and hyper active comedy like shonen, it usually stays in character . But also outside of Berserk and Maybe Vinland saga its way less popular , since it does not need to have super wide reach. And Berserk as legendary manga as it is ., still lhas not gotten adaptation it deserves, it does not even got a solid one , lol. So Seinen has its own fair share of issues being less popular and not as approachable from marketing and popularity standpoint

I think with regards to Nezuko’s demon behavior at this point in the story, at least in my understanding, it may boil down to the fact she’s never drank blood? The other demons in the show have likely been demons for a lot longer, been drinking more human blood and therefore are more “advanced”. Because as we’ve been told humans-turned-demons at first become feral and eat or attack anything in sight. Since the true bond and love of family prevented Nezuko from doing that it’s probably partially why she’s still acting this way. That’s just how I’m looking at it this point in the story!

That's actually a good theory I wish the show explained that tho, lol
