I would more so say that the rejecting of his cooking was reflective of how he didn't like his treatment of Shoto. From what we've seen of this character, he really doesn't care that much for himself. On the subject of Shoto though, I must say that I don't think forgiveness is as black and white

I was wondering if you guys were aware of the anime switch around the order of arcs? That there was a different arc in the Manga before this endeavor one.

The other reason for last week’s episode is that it tied into the third movie that released in Japan on the 6th. Both the episode and the post-credits scene are lead-ins to the “World Tour” movie.

I love the way this episode shows the little things that also build up resentment. The brother thought Endeavour was in some way objecting to his cooking specifically, whereas Endeavour had no idea that more than one person was doing the cooking. But I agree it’s great that the anime isn’t just taking the easy way out and pretending it was just a family argument that got out of hand, or just one act by Endeavour, and that all he needs to do is apologise and they will forgive him. He was a severely abusive husband and father. Sometimes, you don’t get to be forgiven just because you want to be. I don’t know if Endeavour will get his family back in the end, but I think it would be very good for Shoto if he is able to forgive his father, even if he is not prepared to let him back into his life.
