I suspected there might be something wrong with the translation in that conversation with his son after the rescue, but I checked and it seems similar in the dub. It’s an odd line, but I guess the gist is he’s afraid his son will never speak to him again. And from the clip they showed, looks like Bakugo wants to tell Best Jeanist his hero name before anyone else. Although it might not have looked like it at the time, perhaps Jeanist did get through to him after all. Bakugo shows very little sign of improvement on the outside, but on the inside there’s a lot going on.

The line from Endeavor, the dub gets it a bit better, but he’s saying he thought Natsu wouldn’t be able to stand up to him again if he saved him. Natsu might be too ashamed to say anything against the guy who saved him, and might feel obligated/forced to forgive him.
