An absolutely brilliant show. It's also a fascinating time period too. The Japanese invasion that's mentioned in the show took place in 1592, and it completely devastated Korea. In fact, it set off a decade of famine in Korea even though Korea won the war. So it's not completely out of the left field that there's that shocking stuff going on that sets up the story.
