tbf guys we’ve seen what happens when someone goes back in time to prevent a loved one from being hit by a car, the doctor doesn’t wanna reopen that bag of worms lol.

So the reason they can't just go back in time is because the show has stated multiple times they you can't cross your own timeline. Last time somone did in a way to save somone was Rose, and she summoned time reapers and almost killed people.

"'Do you think I care for you so little that betraying me would make a difference" is in my opinion one of the most beautiful moments in the entire show. And reveal of the Cybermen by the closing doors with cybermeny holes has always been my favorite Doctor Who twist :D

Always funny when a question is asked on why can't they do this or that when it's literally been explained minutes before on why they won't be doing that on this particular occasion. Yeah, often because it's more convenient for the plot to not break their own rules in those instances. Also I found it's not uncommon for people to misrepresent Danny. He's mostly very supportive and understanding and often gives good reflective advice despite being lied to constantly by the one who's meant to care for him. Plus disregarded because he served his country in the military, but became affected by what he had seen. Often I've seen that this has translated into bored / annoyed by. Uninterested in or indifferent to. The reckless thrill seekers who often step on the feelings of their partners get more love. I'm not one of those haters of Rose, Amy or Clara. But on more than a few occasions I've thought that Mickey, Rory and Danny could do better. 🤣

This episodes is what solidified Clara as my favorite companion. The depth and darkness of her in this episode made her so much more compelling. I will never understand peoples dislike of Clara, most of the time it’s film bros who think she’s “too important” which imo is ridiculous.

I love this episode, the Missy/Master reveal was brilliant, plus Clara's actions in this one made her probably unreachable by any others as my Favorite Companion, and The Doctor's "Do you think I care so little for you that betraying me would make a difference?" is one of the best and truly heartwarming lines in history

I guess the purists think that the companion should be an ordinary person along for the ride like Donna –– good chemistry with the doctor without distracting from the weekly adventures. I can kinda understand where they're coming from, but personally it bothers me when there's such a huge imbalance between the Doctor, immortal protagonist with centuries of accumulated knowledge, and the companion, walking exposition prompt/comic relief/audience surrogate. I welcome companions becoming a little extraordinary through timey-wimey circumstance (say, Bad Wolf, River, even Doctor Donna for the five seconds she stuck around) or having a more complicated relationship with the doctor than just buddy-cop chemistry. but oh well ymmv i guess

Do get some rest the next couple of months, no worries. I like this ep mostly for the volcano scene and the immediate aftermath tbh. But I enjoyed the cybermen reveal. And Missy is my favorite iteration of the Master. Love the unhinged Mary Poppins vibes.
