What a great show. In my 14 years of theaters doing les mis, to cats, to wizard of oz, to rocky horror, to kill a mocking bird, hell even doing lights for tuna does vegas which was a HOOT not being a part of THIS show still kills me to this day. I love this show and movie and walkin with travolta is amazing. LADYS CHOICE!

Ah yes my fave on screen couple John Travolta and Christopher Walken (for real though loved them together on screen lol) this movie is pure joy for me it never fails to make me smile or sing along (much to the dismay of those around me 🤣) so looks like I'm gonna drive the hubby nuts for however long these songs stay in my head because they always refuse to leave my head quietly 🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️❤️

Yes! Was so happy to see this reaction come out, that you decided to watch this move cause it's one of my favourite musicals. We did this musical in highschool so I really got to know the music well, and in my opinion every song is so well done. I always love watching people's reaction to it cause no one knows that this is more then just a musical, that it deals with some serious messages and I feel like they do it well.

The 1988 Hairspray was actually one of my favourite films growing up. It's not really a musical (just has a lot of dancing to 60's songs, no singing) but is directed by John Waters and is a big cult movie now. It has the same characters and pretty much the same plot but it leans much more heavily into the satire and dark sense of humour. The cast is insane though - Ricki Lake plays Tracey, Ruth Brown is Motormouth Mabel, Debbie Harry plays Velma and Divine is Edna Turnblad. The original will always have my heart but I like this version too. Loved your reaction and please watch more musicals with this combo so we can enjoy more of your dancing.

The John Travolta role is always played by a man. The original film is quite a lot darker and more gritty. The musical is just happy and uplifting. There was a nice cameo in this movie too - one of the scouts in the audience was Ricky Lake, who originally played Tracey.
