I hope you get to watch some of the games during the Summer Olympics. They are so fun to watch and some of the matches get super intense! Men's and Women's volleyball are one of my favorite sports to watch during the Olympics.

No it’s very much appropriate to call it a battle or a fight bc of the emotional stakes and the characters even have referred to matches as such as in line with the poetic nature of haikyuu

i started watching volleyball during the Olympics after getting into Haikyu and I found myself enjoying it a lot more than I thought

Interesting note about promotional material and public perspective bc I think of the olympic games I've paid attention to (Beijing and Rio), US men's volleyball actually did quite well and women's volleyball won gold in 2020. After Haikyuu though, I now watch random clips of the Japan's men's volleyball national team LMAO.

I think definitely compared to US or western volleyball styles, Haikyuu definitely captures the japanese men's team play style REALLY closely.
