I watched these episodes back to back with the CL ZIP and I was hurting from the amount of laughter from it all also its so funny to see their different dynamics, hard to imagine CL ever being razzed but then it’s like oh ofc GD could be the one lol

Some good news if you haven’t already heard PD! G-Dragon is hosting a show in 2025 with the concept of making music with different individuals in entertainment, with Infinite Challenge PD Kim Taeho, the show is called Good Day and I’m so excited to see more of GDs process!

Upshot

I always love these 2nd gen reminiscing episodes (mainly here and on Jaejoong‘s show). But these two episodes are especially outstanding. It is so touching to see them together!

Even though I didn’t start to follow Bigbang since the very beginning, I watched almost all of their interviews, performances and variety shows. You can tell GD changed a lot the way he behaved multiples times all these years. He was different after 2011, he was different after 2017 and he’s different now. Seeing all those criticisms he faced, especially last year is just heartbreaking. I just hope he can stay happy and healthy. I feel he’s happier nowadays based on all the photos we saw. Hope he can realize that there are still a lot of people that love him and cherish him.

The thing you are describing regarding the vibe of this episode is mainly based on two things. 1) TaeYang and G-Dragon being friends from their early school days. Like… you have idols, who had known each other for a long time, but these two literally grew up together their whole life and in the sense of not just being bros, who see each other often, but they spent their life together to the level of how twins are together most of their lives. That is why their stage presence is so unique. Ah… those high fives on this year’s MAMA stage just hit different… 2) DaeSung’s personality! This interesting factor goes back to the documentary of how they were formed. DaeSung joined the team late compared to other members and actually he originally wanted to debut under M Boat (YG’s subsidiary focused on vocalists like Gummy and Wheesung). When Yang Hyun Suk asked others (JinuSean, Se7en, Big Mama, probably 1TYM members were at the meetings too) about their opinion on each member, DaeSung got praised by them a lot, because of his personality and the chemistry he brings to the group (plus his vocal skills, obviously…). So because of the combination of these two factors + the biggest factor of them being BIGBANG members and them having this kind of a reunion on camera after a long time, these two episodes are 100% of what any VIP AND any casual BIGBANG listener, who liked Kpop back then, could ask for! But because of DaeSung’s personality and the fact that he invites there mainly older idols/Kpop related people, pretty much every Zip DaeSung episode is on this vibe too. I bet you would enjoy episodes with Wonder Girls, Gummy and Se7en, Dara or CL (that one was super hilarious) to kind of the same level! I have been thinking about DaeSung a lot since his concert I attended this March and many people in Zip DaeSung pointed it out too. He is so… this is weird to phrase it this way, but somehow: “As if he did not know he is fucking famous and comes from THE GROUP OF THE NAME BIGBANG” Like… sure, other BIGBANG members (G-Dragon, TaeYang, T.O.P) are also humble and we could have a conversation about the whole idea behind TaeYang’s Down to Earth mini album and how it defines his personality, but all 3 of them are at the same time aware of the “Power” (Power, Power… 😅) they have. But DaeSung is just… I don’t know… he enjoys playing drums, so he is at his home playing drums and that is enough for him, but at the same time he does not want to end up alone in life (and because of that this talk show is called the way it is called (it is a reference to a wordplay regarding him being at home, which I forgot how to explain, since it is a Korean pun-related thing 😅). For example Gummy asked him, because he mentioned he wants to get married before turning 40: “So… when was the last time you went on a date?” And he replied something like 2018 and Gummy said: “What?? That was even before the pandemic started!!” And I was like: “Yeah… dude… come on… don’t act like the world does not know you at all and nobody is interested in you! Look at your popularity in Japan, as BIGBANG members used to say: “Among Japanese fans, 6 out of 10 fans have DaeSung as their bias”!!” Anyway… since DaeSung might not ever release both the Korean and Japanese album he announced, because… who the heck knows the reason 😅😅 I simply appreciated any DaeSung related content/bonus drop, because I assume this Zip DaeSung reaction was rather one time thing because of it being BIGBANG related episode, so I just wanted to provide a deep dive into him and his personality. I was also thinking to say more about others, but I keep that for the Digging Deeper podcast. Therefore, thank you for this surprise reaction, it really made my day, because I am not into Christmas that much (because of bad family relationships…), so this truly changed my mood!
