What’s up, dudes.

Do you guys remember in March that I will take a break from comics in April? Well, that was kind of a lie.

Well, not a lie-lie, it’s more like this idea pop up in my head and I couldn’t keep it in my mind for too long, and I need it to take it out from my system so I can move on to the next project. So, I came up with this 4-page comic parody of El Chavo del 8 from Chespirito. For those who don’t know what it is, El Chavo is an old comedian Mexican show about an orphan kid called El Chavo who lives in a small neighborhood in Mexico City, go and google it or search it in Wikipedia.

To be honest, I was hesitating to upload this comic due to some scandal between two actors of the show. That’s why I put this comic open only for pixiv users. So, please, don’t take this comic too seriously. This is just a funny adult parody about the characters from the show. (Mexico, please don’t hate me)

Anyway, I took this opportunity of making this very short adult parody comic to try out one of my art apps on my iPad called Medibang. I didn’t want to work too much in this comic because I was doing other things like the Adventure April challenge and working with the Publishing company from home due to the Coronavirus thing. At first, I was excited to test this new app and see how it works and compare it with the program I used to make comics Clip Studio Paint. But, by the time I begin to work on page 3, I started to hate it.

There are some things that I wasn’t happy with Medibang. One of the things is that when I wanted to modify the panels of the comic I had a hard time selecting the nods to modify the panel instead of the whole panel. Like, when I thought that I selected a nod, it selected the whole panel and move it with my Apple Pencil. It was frustrating.

Another thing that I didn’t like Medibang is that I need to connect the internet to use the Text tool, even that I wanted to edit the text in one of the bubble speech, I had to use the WIFI of my iPad to do so. I wonder if this is something common on the iPad. I am still new about this tablet.

The third thing, also related to the previews one, is that they have this thing of Comic section where, instead of making one comic/manga page, you can create a whole story of your manga with pages and the cover and stuff, just like Clip Studio Paint for the PC. That’s something very useful. But, then again, I have to connect to the internet to do so. And the process of making a full comic in that way was very confusing.

And last but not least, the Ads. Every time I open the program, or when I close the art or comic page I was doing, and Ad appears on my iPad, even must annoying are the ones that are videos.

To conclude, don’t take this text too seriously, I’m just describing my own experience with Medibang. Maybe you’re using this program and it looks great for you. But, for me, I didn’t like it at all.

There is another App also created by Medibang called Jump Paint. According to the reviews, it says that this is the app that some mangakas from Jump Magazine use to make mangas. Maybe for my next short comic (not the SH4 parody comic by the way) I will give it a try and see how it works.

Anyway, it was very long. So, thanks for reading. And as always, let’s make something awesome!
