All aboard the Bounty, I wonder if Cloud is dead. If so I suppose that's a sidearm available for Alex to use. KRAK!

Participating in a daring boarding action would not be very Diplomatic Immunity-like of you, Alex. Probably won't look great on the ambassadorial resume. Oh well...

I assume the helm controls are pretty cybernetic, but there could be work around. The Umiak presumably have plans to for the mission “Capture Loroi ships without the occupants stealthing up, bursting out and hijacking the capturing ship.” If I were the Umiak, I think it might be something like “Neutron irradiate everything that looks like a life form until it stops moving, then send in hardline networked hardtroops with neural links to detect and correct if any node gets its neurobiology interfered with.” Backup wireless and IR links in case of cable cutting. Now Loroi would have to cut cables, smoke bomb and EM jam more or less simultaneously with psionic attacks. This shuttle has a priority payload living and dead (if Jardin’s corpse vision was real, I’m assuming it was) of critical strategic value. I’m also assuming captured humans and their psi nulling from the other scout ships are at the core of the Umiak’s Farsighted Nulling tech. Which they badly want to deny the Loroi? But if so, why not use Vaporize On Sight orders on the shuttle, rather than tolerate even the slightest risk of a breakout hijacking? Guesses: -Umiak commander thinks they hold an extreme advantage and is willing to gamble to get even more human specimens, and feels they MUST know how much the Loroi know about the first humans they have ever found. Vaporizing doesn’t allow that. -Breakout hijackings have a historically abysmal success rate. -The Admiral’s yacht has vastly superior smuggling and counterscanning tech built into its hull than the Umiak are used to, so thought the yacht was emptier than it was. -The Loroi counteroffensive is doing well enough, especially if they send a dedicated VIP recovery strike force, that the Umiak can’t afford to send the best Marines and salvage recovery team to grab this yacht. They had to send whatever good-enough salvagers they had in the area. -Maybe they thought it was just an average crappy shuttle they were salvaging just not to be wasteful, and although they radio’d in the discovery of humans to Command, they weren’t told anything other than “this is secret from here on out, we’re sending higher tier units to take over” -it’s only a matter of time until the Loroi meet more humans, so the cat will be out of the bag eventually. And if this major offensive works, it might not matter anyway. -Umiak Commander is undoubtedly very busy with the invasion, it can’t send out perfect recovery parties to follow up on every rumor of every derelict shuttle that might match the description. If I were Admiral Stillstorm, I’d dispatch every spare shuttle matching the description as decoys. Maybe rig a few with timed explosives. The more red herrings they waste their effort on, the better.

Another great page Arioch! Things are getting even more interesting. It's time for alex to pick up a blaster and make like a hero!

"you are serious" translates into "you are nuts"

Time for Alex to shine. They are commandeering a warship and he is the closest thing to a Torrai they have.

“You cannot imagine what they are capable of” Yeah I’m picturing the crews of the other Bellarmine class scout ships capture and having their limbs amputated and wired into Umiak ships as unwilling psionic blocker cyborgs.

"Rah! The humanity is sleeping! Even while we're in the middle of a risky attack saving his pink ass! " ... "zzz...huh?! I'm awake! I'm awake!"
