The STAR WARS franchise has been inextricably connected to Australia since ATTACK OF THE CLONES started production there in the early 2000s. RFR V.I.P. Keir Newton was raised in Australia and he gets us up to speed with some of the actors that appeared in both AoTC and REVENGE OF THE SITH who were very familiar to Aussies, but not to the American audience. We also discuss memories of growing up with Star Wars as members of The Original Trilogy generation, a little bit about baseball and more!

Awesome, can't wait to listen! I might save this for the flight to Midway and then on to Bristol.

Always great to hear a VIP debut Q&A. Good call on the radio drama dialog connection to the Kenobi plot. I enjoyed hearing your Aussie/Kiwi perspective on SW and knowledge of the actors from that region that landed roles in the films. My favorite Australian shows that I can think of are ‘In the Wild with Harry Butler’ from the late 70s early 80s. I used to watch that all the time on PBS when I was young. And in more modern times ‘Wentworth’. Jimmy, I would extend that OT generation range to 4-13 in ‘77. My brain was fully aware and functioning when I saw the original movie at 5 years old the summer of ‘77. It was burned into my consciousness at that time, where it has remained to this day.

Welcome Keir! Loved this episode. A great first Q&A. The very talented Paul Winfield was the actor who played Terrell in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Dathon in ST:TNG. He was also in The Terminator and many other movies.

I decided to listen before my flight (couldn’t wait) and have just gotten to the part where they discuss the Star Wars generation. Totally agree with you Cris as I was not quite 6 and I was blown away by seeing Star Wars in 1978.

Keir Newton

Thanks Ben and Winfield sure was the man, not to mention ST 2 as one of the best films! And incidentally it’s ST6 and then Deep Space Nine that also features Brock Peters I believe

Keir Newton

Thanks TW and Eric! My fave show from Oz at least within sci fi would have to be Farscape - an acquired taste perhaps!

Ben P. Stein

Yes. ST2 is one of my favorite films of all time! Yes, Brock Peters was in both ST6 and DS9. I listened to the Star Wars radio series when they came out and I thought he was excellent as Darth Vader. If we couldn’t get James Earl Jones, I remember thinking, he was the next best choice!

Kyle Burress

Great first Q&A! I really enjoyed the conversation and look forward to hearing more from you in the future! One thing I'd like to bring up about the Luke/Biggs connection was when Luke mentioned Biggs and Tank leaving when right before he got up from the dinner table with Owen and Beru. That was the first thing in the original cut that gave us a clue as to Luke having previously known him.

Gareth Williams

Shortland Street chat brought back some memories. Was shown in the UK late 90s early 00s. Tem was in it for some time as Dr Hone Ropata. Remember they had a Once Were Warriors poster up in the hospital staff room as an in-joke.

CAMIEEE! Though I knew it’d come to you. Cheers to a new VIP!

Good to know there’s a fellow VIP in San Diego! Great interview, Keir. GO PADRES!!

Great Q&A Kier! Nice to hear from a fellow Aussie - a place that often feels like a galaxy far far away!

Scott St. Louis

Kier, this was a fantastic debut on Q&A! Love the background on Kleigg Lars actor. I never knew he was Australian, but I did know that he was brilliant! Looking forward to seeing your name come up on the roster in future episodes!

Eric from Phoenix

Kier, welcome to the Q and A crew. I had tons of fun listening (forgot to make comments)! I remember my mom telling me that their could be another Star Wars because Darth Vader escaped. I was so excited and hoped it would happen. Field of Dreams is a great place to visit. I was there in the early 90's and guessing it looks different now. The Waterworld stunt show is awesome and something you need to do if attending the park.

Jimmy, you should give Farscape another chance! It's weird but not in a bad way. It has great worldbuilding and complex, nuanced characters.
