RFR brings you a CLONE WARS reunion this week as Master and Padawan are brought together for an exclusive podcast conversation. Matt Lanter (Anakin Skywalker) gives us updates on all the amazing projects he’s been involved with lately, including NBC’s “Timeless”, recently renewed for a second season. Then, James Arnold Taylor (Obi-Wan Kenobi) joins us to share stories with Matt from STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS and we get info about JAT’s new YouTube series “Clone Wars Conversations”.  Plus, more debate about the new DARTH VADER comic series from Marvel, bleeding Kyber crystals, and a heartbreaking theft at Rancho Obi-Wan.

Great show guys, Matt and JAT back on was fantastic. As much as I love Rebels, The Clone Wars will be 'long remembered' for the journey it was and Matt and James were brilliant. I have to side with Jimmy on the comic discussion. Star Wars comics have always and always will have adaptive story telling that tell an essence of what we see on screen when the comics and movies overlap. My very first exposure was Marvels adaptation of Star Wars (the black and white novel version) which as you know as written and drawn without ever seeing the movie. Even as a kid I never read that and then when I did see it in the cinema sau 'thats not how it was in the comic'. I knew even at that young age comics are a story told differently than movies .

I love listening to you talk about Star Wars canon. Its especially funny for me as a theologian and biblical historian/scholar to notice the parallels between biblical canonization and Star Wars canonization AND how people then understand that process (what it means) and interpret the material. Its also humorous because I know many Star Wars fans that would roll their eyes at debate surrounding the bible that act exactly like various religious groups when it comes to Star Wars canon. I think having some experts (maybe even Pablo and Leland) on to discuss what Star Wars canon really means would be fascinating. You both seem to have an understanding that is "rock solid" but it seems like a misunderstanding of what canon is to me personally. Great show guys!

I just read the darth Vader comic, don't know why they ended the other series to start another with The same title. It just doesn't make sense to me. I don't know I think Marvel is going through some weirdness but I am very happy that they have restored the digital copies. Regarding the "No" when you read the comic it is quite dramatic. But I agree with Jason regarding the silliness of the red bleeding Khyber crystals and palpatine being slammed. But then Morrison said it best it's just rock 'n' roll comic books and bubblegum!

great show as always!!! It was great to hear JAT and Matt back together again. I loved hearing their banter and I could imagine in my mind OB1 and Anakin back on another adventure in TCW. As far as the Vader comic goes, while I don't think it's that big of a deal right now, as for me the comics have always taken a more expanded view on the movies. Plus I don't always like reading a comic or a novel that is word for word, scene for scene adaptation of the movie we see on screen. I like when there's some slight deviation to add more meat to the story presented in the comics and novels. However - I do see the POV from Jason that he is talking about. I would be totally against Lucasfilm, the story group, Disney or whoever changing the SAGA story and adding things that are out of character or didn't happen in the movies (ex. OB1 not dying in ANH). Artistic license - yes, completely changing the story - no (pun intended lol) I don't think Vader slamming Sidious against the wall would happen and I think is out of character for Anakin/Vader at this point in time in the SAGA. I have more of a problem with this than the "No" thing. Because from what I understand the small "No" happens after the big "Nooooo" in the comic, so I don't really see an issue.

The Clone Wars (Genndy series and the GL/Filoni creation, for different reasons) will always be the standard for animated Star Wars. It was EPIC on so many levels. SW Rebels has had great moments, but yet IMO has still to match The Clone Wars as a series whole.

I am late to this because I am still catching up after fieldwork earlier this summer (all of the new Patreon content makes it take a lot longer to catch up, but I love all of it. I am writing because I want to express my disappointment and disgust with Jason's attitude toward people making Star Wars content like comics and novels. The disdain in his voice is dripping, and he is extremely insulting to people who pour a lot of their heart and soul into creating things for us to enjoy in the Star Wars universe. Jason and others who feel the same way are entitled to ignore whatever content they like, but I don't think it is appropriate to be so insulting and churlish toward people who have great imagination and tell good stories. Many of us enjoy them, and for many years such things were all we had to keep Star Wars going in our hearts. Please be more respectful to the creative process when you disagree. Creating comic panels and writing novels takes a tremendous amount of work and talent, and you know, Jason, that you would never be so condescending to those creators if you were actually speaking to them (ironically, you frequently chastise Twitter folk for doing this). There have even been times when Jason showed this type of mean spirit to the animated series and Filoni (re: Kenobi and Maul and the Chosen One). Hearing Jason take this attitude really turns me off and makes me feel embarrassed for listening to the show. I love you, Jason, but please take some time to reflect on your attitude.
