STAR WARS, Seattle, and Sickness

Turtle Wars

Great to have you back on the Q&A Jeff! And very glad to hear you made it through the cancer man! I hope it stays that way for you! The After Show chat would never be the same without you! I had to have heart surgery at 35 to survive, I had 5 more years to live at best. Then at 40 I found out I had bladder cancer. I had that tumor removed a week or two after it was found. I had that follow up check every year for 10 years after the removal to make sure the tumor wasn’t growing back. That involves a cystoscopy, which is not very fun (unless you’re into that kind of thing) and involves running a camera up your urethra to get a good view of the bladder. So, when I was 51 I decided on my own to do the DNA colon cancer test and it came back positive. So I thought to myself, oh great, here we go again, time for another medical adventure. But then I had a proper colonoscopy done and luckily it turned out to be a false positive. I never expected to live past my teens, but here I am about to turn 53. I never would have guessed that i would live this long in a million years with my reckless irresponsible lifestyle. I never really have anyone around to push me to get things checked out, so if I can do it, the rest of you can do it. Lots of good advice Jeff! Everyone do what you can to stick around to keep enjoying Star Wars and everything else you enjoy in life. Grievous probably still had his brain intact too. I always thought Yoda died of the sickness we call old age, where the internal organs reach their end and just break down and cease to function. Loved the museum photos! The last time I saw Metallica live was in 1992. I think you inspire me to go see them again Jeff. Metallica, Slayer, and Pink Floyd are who I listened to constantly in the 80s. I hear the Hot Jeff is a lot more appetizing than the Hot Carl! Your friend George takes some great shark photos! Kerry King is a python breeder, so he hangs out at some of the big reptile expos from time to time. I know someone that is good friends with him, which is how I’ve gotten backstage passes in the past. Thanks for sharing Jeff!

Jeff Holland

WOW - TW! Thank you so much for sharing your story. You have been through so much. So happy to know you're still here with us. I look forward one day to eventually meeting you in person and having a drink with you. If RFR has a May the 4th event this year, I fortunately will miss it because I'll be seeing Metallica play at my alma mater on May 7th! No way my wife lets me go do that AND to an RFR event the same week. Ha! We all need to do what we can with what we have to enjoy this life as long as we can. We only get one crack at this thing. I actually know what a Hot Carl is. hahaha!

Rebel Force Radio

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear we will be able to do a May 4th event this year. We are still working on a live event for sometime in 2025.

Jeff Holland

Well, that's a bummer. Although, I must admit I'm kind of happy that I won't miss the RFR event (when/where-ever it may be). Thanks for the update JMac!

Eric from Phoenix

Millions (or 100s) of voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced….I hope a live event happens even if not over 5/4 weekend.

Turtle Wars

Thanks Jeff, would be great to meet up and have a drink someday. I forget, what state do you live in? Bummer about May the 4th RFR event! But hopefully another event will come about this year. At least we have one more after show tomorrow. And then around 12 more starting again in April for Andor.

Jeff Holland

Dang. You were about 20-25 min from where I live. If you're ever in this neck of the woods again let me know.

Turtle Wars

Oh wow, more precisely I was in Newport News. So, I may have been really close. I drove out to I-95 from there on my trip back to SC. We’ll get another hangout happening at some point. The nonstop flight from Charleston to Norfolk is actually only $39!

Jeff Holland

Newport News is a little bit further, but not much. Yes, we'll definitely meet up one of these days.

Greg Koenig

Jeff, May the Force Be With You! Thanks for sharing your story

Just got the chance to listen to this one this week. Very positive ans inspiring discussion. Have loved all your Q/A’s and would’ve never known all you’ve been through. Plenty of fun Star Wars talk as well. Proud to be part of this community.
