The RFR Early Bird, wearing a red cape with a big 'S' on it, is flying in with this week's ad-free show, only for RFR Patreon supporters!

The hot trend of STAR WARS casting rumors and leaks continue with recent reports of “Superman” actor Henry Cavill having a meeting with Lucasfilm. We discuss and also break down more reports about Natalie Portman’s potential return to STAR WARS. We look at new info about Rotta the Hutt in THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU, and the latest screenwriter assigned to work on Daisy Ridley’s “New Jedi Order” film. A recent tease from Marvel Comics for the upcoming “Legacy of Vader” revealing the death of Watto at the hands of Darth Vader has the internet buzzing, and us too. And, we analyze disappointing viewership numbers for STAR WARS streaming shows on Disney+ and offer solutions to get the franchise back on track. Plus, listener feedback and more!

My favorite notification of the week is when the new episode drops! RFR #1

Listening to this episode around the 40 minute mark. Hearing "George liked blank" always reminds me if the Mods from Boba Fett. "George was really into Mod culture" 🤣

GaryK from England

Really looking forward to this week’s RFR full show. It always feels like the weekend is truly beginning when these episodes drop! As a big fan of BondCast too, will the Tomorrow Never Dies episode be dropping soon? Thanks for all you do Jimmy and Jason!

I really enjoyed this episode! I completely agree with Jimmy about Gladiator II. I saw it initially in the theater going into it with some trepidation as to how they were going to continue the story. It was a worthy successor. I wasn't impressed with the baboons either. To get it back to Star Wars I really hope we get to see that Natalie Portman cut scene sometime

This message is for Swank: If you want to revisit classic Marvel stories in physical form, check out the Star Wars Marvel Epic Collections. These volumes gather iconic tales from both the original Marvel run and the Dark Horse years, making them an excellent way to experience hard-to-find stories. Whether you’re after timeless classics or hidden gems, the Star Wars Marvel Epic Collections are the perfect way to dive back in. You can find them on Amazon, eBay, or at your local comic book store. https://www.goodreads.com/series/218216-star-wars-legends-epic-collection?page=4&per_page=15

Such a fun listen this week ( it always is ). I really appreciated the callers thoughts on Mando. While I loved season 2 the story getting SO BIG looking back may have not been the best thing. Season 3 of Mando I’m still recovering from lol. As far as the Rey movie goes can Lucasfilm not read the room? It’s not working STOP. No one wants that movie. Finally I’d love Henry Cavill in SW. He’s a legend among us geeks cause he’s one of us. But I’m pretty sure he’s making a Warhammer show with Amazon which he’s a devout fan of. I don’t see it happening with that in the way.

What a great listen! I enjoyed the almost “Star Wars etc.” conversation in this episode. ie-Superman, Gladiator 2. It made me miss the old show when Jason and Jimmy would talk while Jason was driving home. RFR #1

I’m always impressed by Jason’s Watto voice. Great episode this week guys!

Looking forward to listening/watching over the weekend. Thank you, RFR! 🧡💙🤍

Jason hit the nail on the head at the top of this episode. This show has always been at its best when digging deeper into the good stuff. So, I'm pulling the stoic in me out and say I'm not ever fixing Lucasfilm. And it's been VERY easy to drift into that head space over and over again in our community. Guilty as charged. But I'm going to try to keep the stuff I enjoy front and center in 2025. I also backed that G.I. Joe comic book compendium Kickstarter and love It! The world needs the positive vibes.

One show a year with 15 episodes should be standard. Regardless of era. Even if they follow GOT mantra. It took 10 years to create the entire series. So, production should at least 1-2 years.

Buff Baboons.😅😅😅

Marco

Maybe we could get a Qui-Gon and Watto sketch show from Jimmy and Jason?

Erik Berry

I agree 100% with Mac, lack of focus is a problem. I’m always left disappointed: boba fett, kenobi, acolyte, skeleton crew. “Like a bantha”. High Ground.

Trevor Hallam

Bluey had 55.6 billion min streamed. And it’s a 7 min show.

Great episode guys! Reading a digital version of Crimson Empire over the weekend made me nostalgic for classic SW Marvel comics—and Jason is reading my mind!Jaxxon forever

Barry Harmon

Just started listening to this episode, thanks for the SEGAbits shout out!

RobO from ChicagO

I’m a little behind on Ridley Scott movies, I just watched Napoleon on a flight, not bad, but kinda forgettable. Glad to hear Gladiator II is solid.

Great discussion on what Star Wars is. You guys nailed it! If Star Wars had been made specifically for the 70’s it never would’ve lasted. Buff Hutts who can fight? That makes no sense… Swank busting a gut is so therapeutic. Love it! GI Joe Kickstarter comic is awesome. I loved that line as a kid and kept the comics. Roughly 1-59. I know the Star Wars Omnibus is available that does exactly what Swank wants with the Marvel run. Pricey on Amazon but guessing you can find these at your local used book store for much less.
