On day three of STAR WARS CELEBRATION CHICAGO, RFR Patreon members gathered on Chicago’s South Side at Alulu Brewery for an exclusive live episode of Rebel Force Radio. Rancho Obi-Wan’s legendary Stephen J. Sansweet stops by to talk about the history of Star Wars Celebration and the challenges he faced as a member of the Lucasfilm planning committee in charge of the first-ever event back in 1999. It’s always a “celebration” of laugh and song when Steve joins us. Worlds collide! Puppet Lando shared the same space with the real Lando, Billy Dee Williams for a whirlwind photo-op. We provide a play-by-play recount of what was our most insane moment at Star Wars Celebration. Then, Puppet Lando himself joins us to read through the amazing Star Wars-inspired menu provided by Alulu Brewery. We review some hot new STAR WARS headlines including news that J.J. Abrams met with George Lucas while developing the script for THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. Plus, we react to the return of Emperor Palpatine in Episode IX and how it may affect the legacy of THE LAST JEDI. Bob Iger says that Star Wars films will be placed on a hiatus and we try to decipher what that really means. Star Wars artist/entrepreneur Kevin Liell joins us along with audience feedback about THE RISE OF SKYWALKER trailer. The blue milk was spiked by Greedo and flowing all night long at Alulu. Join us for the party!

More Star Wars Celebration Chicago coverage is coming from us soon including RFR LIVE in CHICAGO from REGGIE’S.

It was a great time. This was my first celebration and attending an RFR event made it all the more epic!

Bianca from Michigan

Still sad I couldn't have been there but I can't wait to listen.

Blake Weaver

You guys killed it that night. I laughed and had many good beers and conversations.

Eric from Phoenix

So much fun. My wife and I stayed up way past our bedtime. The story about the Billy Dee photo op is hilarious.

Brian Klein

Good times. I laughed so hard that night. Maybe it was the blue milk's fault, maybe not ☺

In 2019, we have a movie and multiple TV shows to look forward to. In 1992, I couldn't wait for Steve Sansweet on QVC. That man kept the SW flame going. Thanks for having him on again.

Nick Whenham

I've been laughing hard at the Billy Dee photo story! So funny! Great to hear Steve S on the show again too! Thanks for a great couple of hours.

Windows!

Sounded like an amazing time . Maybe I can go to an RFR event In Anaheim . I want to party with all of you !

Hyperspace Reptiles-Chad W.

Proud to have been a part of this one wearing my RFR shirt saying it loud and proud!

As someone who consumes LOTS of media while driving (though almost never visual media) I find Jason's vehicular viewing habits to be kinda boss. Just don't let any Aussie cops find ya. I hear they're crazy intense

Sean W. from Warsaw

This was a wonderful show. I got a special kick out of the Billy Dee story! And it's especially exciting to know that George Lucas himself is back! But as good as all of this is, I personally have to thank Jimmy Mac for his positive attitude towards TLJ. Jimmy, when you said you have found yourself pushing back simply because there's so much negativity to it, I was inspired. It's not a position I've heard anyone else take. I've had my problems with the film, but I've been been trying to see the really good stuff of late, really taking the time to stop, and then think deeply. It's certainly worthy of that exploration. And I've been rewarded for this by finding some surprisingly deep things that have helped me to truly appreciate the film not just as a Star Wars film, but as a story. I've even come to see it more in a literary level, which is pretty serious. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it is quite good. So, from one Star Wars fan to another, thank you Jimmy for staying positive in this most jaded age of Star Wars fandom. Sincerely.

Steven Jimenez

Lol Jimmy was lit towards the end 😂😂😂😂

Casey Wall

Loved this show, so wish I was there for some Blue Milk... :)

Robert Swift

The photo shoot was one of the funniest stories I've heard in a while! Thanks for letting us Patreons who couldn't make it listen to the recording of the event!

Great Celebration shows, gentlemen, thank-you. One thing about this convention over years past that was so glaringly apparent is just how much Disney has completely iced you guys out. Burrrr....talk about chilly. It really wasn't acknowledged, and I would wager that's probably b/c the hope is still there that someday RFR will get their seat back at the table. And that makes perfect sense, no judgments. So that's why I'm saying this out loud instead. Now, no one expects the current regime in charge to allow any screen talent to talk to you guys anymore, of course. But it's quite striking that not 1 person--not even the cartoon voice actors or ANY behind the scenes folks are apparently allowed to even acknowledge RFR's existence. RFR--The #1 Star Wars podcast on the planet, and deservedly so. All the while Lucasfilm employees are released to go on & do several other abjectly poorer podcasts and streaming shows. It's frustrating and quite sad, really. The lack of access to Filoni & Witwer cut the deepest, IMHO. Also, one last thing; Hopefully you boys can get A-Teamer Kyle Newman out of his self-imposed SW-chatting hiatus. The Force is quite strong w/that one. Welp, that's the end of my mini-rant. Thanks again, fellas and will continue to follow your podcasting careers with great interest.
