The original STAR WARS trilogy was famously recreated as audio dramas for public radio networks in the 80s and 90s. “The Winds That Shook The Stars” is the complete, unauthorized oral history of the STAR WARS radio dramas and it will hit bookshelves this summer. We get a preview of the book from authors John and Mary Jo Tenuto, who share behind-the-scenes stories, trivia, and new info never before presented anywhere else. Plus, we spotlight some of the more famous voices heard in the radio dramas and more. Plus, we listen closely to Bail Organa’s voice in the latest episode of THE BAD BATCH, we discuss Wookiee Jedi, and we review MANDALORIAN jokes from Pedro Pascal’s Saturday Night Live monologue.

Absolutely one of my favorite episodes you guys have ever done! Loved the QA episodes on the radio dramas too. Really wish we can one day hear smugglers run or even a behind the scenes on that. Always listened to star wars, hitchhikers guide and the Sherlock radio dramas growing up as a kid.

I realize this is an audio podcast about a radio drama... but I'm excited to see the full-show video anyway. Is it usually posted around the same time as the podcast?

Great show! I love the radio dramas and that was such a good interview. I’ve pre-ordered the book on Amazon

Fantastic interview! Can't wait to read this book once it comes out. The SW radio dramas have been a yearly listen for me going back to when they came out on CD. Brian Daley's work on them, especially that awesome ending to ROJ, is phenomenal! That version of the ending, when the ghosts appear on Endor, gives whole new meaning to "Return of the Jedi" (as a plural term)!

Found the original radio drama on youtube, first time listening and it’s great!

Wow. What a great interview. I’m really looking forward to this book. Wish we had it when we did our Q&A on the dramas. A+++

Excellent show! Glad you brought up the change in Bail Organa’s voice - I thought I was imagining it; but clearly I wasn’t.

I’m a bit behind and just caught up… this was an amazing episode. There are a lot of things I love about RFR, but the amazing people you bring into the Cantina is at the top. It’s awesome to see how people live out there fandom in such different ways. The book sounds amazingly. I’ve got to admit, I’ve listened to the radio shows but usually in the background. I’m definitely putting these on during the summer vacation road-trip. Thanks guys.

The interview in this episode was an instant classic for me! So good and full of so much quality content. I was so hoping for prequel radio dramas, too! Why were they never made? I don't think I've ever heard a definitive answer.

I was part of a team that was pitching it to Lucasfilm back in the early 2010s. We had a crew and cast ready to go and talks seemed favorable, but then the sale to Disney happened and all discussions became frozen in time.

What an amazing episode of rfr! Sure to be a classic. I've already preordered their book.

Jared Cantor

I'd listen to a revisit of the topic once you've both read this amazing book!

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I remember you saying that in the interview. What I meant was, why wasn't a prequel radio drama ever made more or less as those movies were in development? Lucas had total control by that point, so I'm even more confused given how this interview revealed how much he was interested in helping out radio and such.
