I stayed up late to listen and I’m howling at “it’s a living!” Mattie I think you’re conflating Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do with it” which IS “but a secondhand emotion…” where as Smokey does sing “second that emotion” 🎶 As for LDLU, Chris?’s family dinner was so riveting and what I love about this show vs 90Day with the fraudacity, in storyline, the family dynamic is enough. Thanks for your discussion about Joey. I have been in recovery from meth and other substances for 6 years and 7 months, and this is a very emotional segment for me. I understand the loneliness and despair and where it takes too many queer people. I worry that he is putting this guy over his recovery, and where that might take him. We need to keep talking about this because this illness is causing too much pain out there.

I have to admit that I wasn’t as in love with Emil (Joey’s dad) as everyone else was in episode 1. I admit my mistake and am TOTALLY on board with this lovely man. Also, the entire show makes me think that we are all (mostly) so delusional about ourselves and our motivations, aren’t we? Present queens excepted, naturellement! For anyone that wants to explore recovery but isn’t into the God focus in AA there is a huge community of secular AA online, and a program called lifering that is a peer support recovery program that is non religious! The secular recovery community is growing!

I don’t think Shonta living in Kansas was the reason they haven’t seen each other. She now lives in Independence, MO which is in the KC metro area. To me it sounded like she just lived on the Kansas side of KC and had to move 20 minutes away to the Missouri side for his parol when he gets out.

As a recovering meth addict, being bored is the gateway to using. Especially if you are struggling with your recovery. My husband, bless his heart and his recovery, has struggled so long because of being bored. Or if life is lifing a little too hard. It can be VERY triggering. I pray for Joey.
